This poll information was already posted here but I would like to see 100's of votes from this forum so what the heck. The Observer is Oak Ridge's weekly paper which is growing by leaps and bounds and is owned and published by a former Marine. Due to the fact that the Oak Ridger is as liberal as most other rags in the state such as the Tennessean or the Memphis Comunist Appeal, it is struggling to survive and may soon sink beneath the waves of local sentiment, necessity and modernity.

This is about the percentage of representation in the gallery at the meeting last Monday night when the Council met. VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!

89.9 to 10.1 in our favor. That's a hit.

Am I missing something?

Should City Council have opted out of the state law allowing permit holders to carry concealed handguns in Oak Ridge parks?
A "yes" vote says they should have opted out, i.e., banned carry. It seems to me that we're losing, not winning, at the moment?

No 67 90.5%

Yes 7 9.5%

Like I've said before, most polls work best when they are wrapped around a brick and thrown through a window.

Read the question again carefully. It asks "Should City Council have opted out of the state law allowing permit holders to carry concealed handguns in Oak Ridge parks?"

The answer is NO, they should not have opted out of the law. We, the handgun carry permit holders and supporters of carry in the local parks are winning as of this posting, 91%- 9%. i.e. 91% of the respondants to this poll say that the city should not have opted outof the state law. I'd like to see this end up at 98% NO.
