Humane Society asks Obama Administration to appoint Animal Protection Liaison

Interesting fact: There are 18 different organizations that oversee and promote animal welfare and rescue in the US. Even more surprising is that the White House has never appointed an official animal welfare position.

The Humane Society of the United States, together with the Humane Society Legislative Fund, is asking the Obama Administration to appoint an Animal Protection Liaison that would work with various animal advocacy agencies and Congress. The appointed official would serve as the connection between influential animal rights groups around the country and the movers and shakers in our nation's Capital. The HSUS hopes that this liaison "will advance animal protection policies in an ongoing and sustained way."

Isn't the guy that got the appointment to write the regulations for federal agencies the guy that thinks animals should be able to sue humans and is against all hunting?

For those that may not know, HSUS has nothing to do with local humane societies. They are a lobbyist organization. They are not as extreme as PETA, but they are an animal rights organization and not an animal welfare organization(like the ASPCA, the American Humane Association, or your typical local humane society). There have also been numerous accusations that members of the HSUS staff have helped fund organizations like the ALF(Animal Liberation Front), which is an animal rights terrorist group. The HSUS does not like hunting, or fishing, at all.

My wife made a donation to them, once. She thought it was to help the puppies until we started getting all this radical "bomb the chicken factory" stuff in the mail. Maybe they're not as radical, but they sure sold our address to some radical groups.

Regulatory czar Cass Sunstein.

I don't think it will effect hunters. More so for those who like to throw puppies in dumpsters and starve horses.

Do a little research on HSUS. It would be as bad as possible on hunters and pet owners (all pet owners).

IMO, I think our society puts way to much stock on the welfare of animals. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs as much as the next guy, in fact we have two, a beagle and a boston terrier. But , if any one of them came down w/ some disease, like say cancer, that would cost an arm and a leg, well seeya Fido. Its just cheaper to get another dog. You cannot put animal lives ahead of human lives, or human welfare. Just my :hiding:.
