LMAO!!!!!!! I finally got through to TN Dept of Safety on the phone. They said mine was issued on 18 December, too. Allow 10-14 business days, not counting weekends...but you should allow more than 14 because the printing department is backed up...

This must be the standard answer nowadays. How the heck can they issue everybody's on the 18th of December? This is hogwash!

Look at the bright side. I was told that they dont have my application yet (even though I turned it in and was fingerprinted on the 22nd). Lisa Mcknight responded to an email and I quote "Mr. (my name redacted), we have not had time to receive your application and post it to history please allow ninety (90) days for the issuance of your permit." ?!?

They should just print these at the DMV after you are "issued". Add a class to your drivers license or something.

Agreed. Revoke later if it turns out you are not allowed to have one. The whole thing is stupid, anyway. It isn't as though a felon who manages to get an HCP is somehow legal to carry now. They are still breaking the law either way (and they will probably still carry either way, FWIW.)

Well what I meant was after you are approved and sent to the printing press deal they should just cut that process out and call you and say " the tbi thinks you are an outstanding citizen. You may now go to the DMV and get you license to defen yourself". Sheesh I wonder if they tell you yourpermit has been issued just to get you to quit calling.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I think they should give it to you after you take the class and fill out the application. Then they can do all the background checks they want, if it makes hoplophobes feel better. Then, if they find something wrong, they could call and say "We've discovered that you are not allowed to carry a firearm, which you certainly knew all along. Therefore, you have been carrying illegally. We are sure that you will continue to carry illegally, but the stupid little laminated card you have is now officially revoked."

Called about mine today. They said "just got all the paperwork and expect it in 2 weeks".:P That is all fine and dandy but my husband and I filed everything the same day and his was issued Dec.8 but not received until something like the 20th. I have been waiting since September 23.:D I don't mind the wait but if it takes 6 months just tell me so. Don't say 90 and then in 105 tell me to wait another couple of weeks!:wall: I spent A LOT of money and would like what I paid for in the time I was told it takes:shrug:. I hate the way government run agencies work!!

I LOVE the emoticons on TGO!!

I renewed at the DMV on 25 November 2009. I called today just to check; I was expecting to be told it was still in the works. Instead, I was told it had already been mailed and should be arriving soon. Lo and behold, it was in the mail this afternoon.

Mine was in the bunch on the 18th also. I was disappointed when it didn't show yesterday after reading that so many had showed up. Just went by the post office and there it was !
