Level IV Sniper Class at Tullahoma Jun 19-24

Recommended Posts

Attended a school conducted at Tullahoma by the High Ground Training Group I am one of the Master Instructors for. It was a Level IV Mixed Terrain and Target Interdiction Sniper School for police and military personnel.

The class was made up of almost all instructors since we were validating the course of fire and training exercises before we put it on for real for regular students. The premise was prep for the very possible scenarios here in the US of a Beslan School Massacre or the Mumbai Incident. Both of which involved multiple terrorists conducting attacks at multiple locations.

We attended classes in the evening going over the next day of training and conducted briefings of the incidents mentioned. We also critiqued the previous day of training and improvement that needed to be done. All of the training was conducted at the Volunteer Training Site for the TN Army National Guard at Tullahoma.

I carried a DPMS TAC-20 .308 and my new Bushmaster ACR Basic Folder in .223. The ACR had a total of 50 rounds through it when I showed up and didn't have any problems at all, just one of the mags I brought. The DPMS had problems with one mag (DPMS) and that was it. Total round count for the week was around 375 for the .308 and about 500 or so for the .223. Had a little bit of pistol thrown in of about 75 rounds of .45 with my Kimber TLE-RL.

The grip pod worked fine. I have big hands so it's kinda a non-issue for me. I don't like them on entry type guns but if you need the extra stability for longer range work they are great. I was shooting out to 600 yards and making good hits with the ACR.
