Shotgun Sighting Systems

Sadly, my Mossberg 590 only came with a gold front bead and a rear picatinny rail mounted on the receiver. I wish it had those fancy Mossberg ghost ring sights but alas it does not.

I've considered mounting a cheapie red dot on the rails but I really don't like the idea. I don't want something that will get knocked off/broken/kill batteries.

Therefore I've been looking at other iron sights. The gold bead is nice but I want something more visible with a similar low profile preferably compatible with low profile rear iron sights (still figuring that part out).

So far, for a front post I've limited it to the following:

Meprolight Night Bead Sight - $25

HiViz Spark II Fiber Optic Sight - $10

Truglo Clamp-on Fiber Optic Sight - $16 (apparently works/clamps on well according to reviews)

Does anyone have any insight to any of these? I am SERIOUSLY open to any recommendations. I prefer low profile front and rear sights and cheap.

For the record, I'm running a Mossberg 590 w/20" barrel and heatshield. Receiver is drilled and tapped with removable picatinny rail. Sights are for HD and to have fun with slugs, lol.

I bought the above sight (in orange) but ended up taking it back to the store only because on my 870 there wasn't enough room to fit it on the end of the barrel without hitting the + 2 round tube clamp and sling mount. See the attached thread I posted reviewing a light mount and you'll see what I mean.

I did a quick trial fit without the sling mount and it fit very tight and really gives you a great sight picture. It did work as advertised. Can't beat the price and non-permanent install.
