Question about IWB

Recommended Posts

Ive been carrying OWB and finding it hard to conceal properly in warm weather without a second outside garment of which i only have one of, and as any married man on a budget would know if you buy clothes the wife want's a bunch too. :)

But trying IWB i noticed i couldn't even button my jeans with the holster in place unless i used small of the back area.

Am i going to have to buy larger jeans and use a belt to tighten the crap out of them to make IWB at the seems to be popular 4 o'clock postion which looks the most comfortable? And how not look like a young punk with my jeans below my butt everytime i take a step since one side up (before carry came up) would drop like a rock at any move?

Advice anyone?

For IWB carry yes you need them big enough to accommodate the holstered gun. Also 4 o'clock is slow, 3 is better 1-2 is even faster if you can do it. That is referred to as appendix carry, I just can't do it.

I think you will find that concealing is much easier with an IWB holster or a belly band even. I use both any given time. I actually haven't had to get a bigger size jeans. I usually carry between 1 and 2 o'clock which puts it right in front of my hip bone or at a cross draw which I guess would be 11 o'clock if I am thinking this right :)

I actually went out and bought everything 1 size bigger in the waist from what I needed and it worked out perfect when I carry.

I use an MTAC and no problems with concealment with a shirt tucked in, t-shirt just about anything so far.

Yeah, get pants that are a size larger... I did that a few years ago, and now all my jeans fit perfectly without carrying IWB :).

Or, get some stretchy-pants! Actually, I really like how the 5.11 pants have a slightly elastic waistband... makes them really comfortable.

Buy bigger or get smaller....With the CTAC I wear it at about 3 OClock for the most part, because I am wearing a shirt and tie, tucked in and sitting a lot. On the weekends, I have it at about 2 OClock, I can wear a tshirt, with the CTAC set on the lowest setting(sits the furthest down), it still conceals very well, no cover needed, just the untucked tshirt. I do wear a undershirt with my Tshirts because I don't like the feel of the kydex on my skin. I always wear 2 shirts though. Keeps my Tshirts from building up deodorant(that was probably a little TMI)
