The opposition killed their equivalent to our SECDEF yesterday. I'd be interested to know how the UN inspectors were blown up. The rebels have been welcoming of them since the UN is getting word of atrocities out. Just the other day they put out a report that implied Syrian military were executing folks. If the attack on the UN inspectors can be traced back to a Syrian order that would could be a game changer.... ya know, if the UN actually did anything.

Then war with the Russians will break out. Why can't we just stay out of the Middle East for once? Let them fight it out.

The Russians will (continue to) sell weapons to Syria, but I doubt you'll see Russian troops involved. The Russians can't afford war both monetarily and politically.

I hope we don't get involved, but I'm curious how far it will go before the court of world opinion demands the global police force (aka, the US military) do something.

No doubt about that.

I don't think we'll get involved. Europeans can have this one. We aren't even flying drones to monitor for the UN. The Russians just don't want to lose their base on the Med. They could care less about what's going on there other than their concern over being evicted if the opposition wins. But hey, Greece is bankrupt. They could always buy real estate there pretty cheap. I think this is gonna go on for a while. A shame really when you consider that if it wasn't for this we'd be getting at least a few years of peace and quiet in that area.

There will be no peace in the area as long as the Arabs want to annilate God's chosen people.

Well if this hadn't happen there would be some peace. Also with part of the Israeli political party breaking off from the hardliners who just want to fight everyone and such. That too will hopefully calm some things down.

The Israeli situation has changed but, from what I read, very little, and the political situation in Israel should remain basically

unchanged. They're going to do what they have to, and will do it with resolve. They're surrounded by the enemy of Israel

as it stands, and the US won't be there for them. That's too bad because we have a common enemy.

The puppet in the White House is the "stand in" conductor of this orchestra, too, which makes him the enemy of the state,

as far as I'm concerned.

This "conductor" in office may see another opportunity to get involved again...just for political reasons of course. Wartime presidents always wins re-election I believe don't they?

The damage is indicitive of nothing more than a hand grenade. Hardly sheared off the front like they reported.

And because it is likely a handgrenade the UN may not have been the targets. It could have been an opposing faction to those who live in that area. Knowing the locals would congregate around the vehicle they knew a handgrenade would get a few of their enemies.

I know I have seen it in a few different countries. When I was in Bosnia we would get reports of people throwing handgrenades into groups of people of other factions or religions. Just random stuff that often involved women and children.

Anyone think a few grenades will be thrown at the UN when they start patrolling our country?

Nah, we'll welcome them as liberators, just like they did in Iraq.

There has been a mass exodus of Syrians into Lebanon in the past 48 hours. Also, Assad's Nat'l Security Advisor died yesterday of wounds in Wednesday's blast that also killed their Secretary of Defense.

Even though this has been going on for a while, I figured at some point the rebels would tire or suffer enough defeats (like in the beginning) that this would just wither away. Amazingly this has not only been ramped up, the rebels seem to be getting a lot of ideological support from the populous. This is largely without any kind of social media or access to what the rest of the world is putting on the news. I don't think this will go away. The rebels will either topple Assad or Assad will have to make some big changes and step down, then retire elsewhere.

If it were only the UN building, instead of the WTC on 9/11, there might have been less of a response,

but the muslims were focused on something else, weren't they? There's a reason for that. The UN,

for all intents and purpose, is on their side. Probably collateral damage and a few more visiting paradise

is but a drop in the bucket to them. Probably just a distraction for a larger theme. We'll be in it up to our ears

before too long.
