Case lube is about ease as well. Carbide dies may not need it but sizing is so much easier when lubed. I even lube 45 ACP brass.

It also prevents cases from getting stuck. I have had cases get stuck when I thought there was no way in hell they would. Or I have had rims get pulled off or pulled through the shell holder.

No you don't HAVE to lube carbide. BUT, as Dolomite says, it helps. I do it because it makes cycling my press MUCH easier. With this fouled up shoulder, cranking a hundreds of the buggers will really inflame it. A little spray lube makes it a whole lot easier on ME.
