Tragedy and emotion should not lead to the government mandating what private citizens need. The belief that government can and should regulate what private citizens ‘need’ or ‘are allowed to have’ is one that will lead to further regulation and restraint of what citizens can and cannot have. In a macro, the restraint of freedom. Thus, those who believe in this ideology can state without equivocation that they are on the march toward the elimination of freedom. And from that point, our nation cannot retract. We, the People, can then only be subject to its government; an oppression and principle that gave brave men the courage to found these United States.
