  1. TGO friends, my pastor moved into a new house this past weekend and watches/jewelry appaer to have been stolen by the movers. Among those items was a ring from Dallas Theological Seminary and a soldered ring; made from two separate family rings. If any of you peruse Nashville/Franklin area pawn or jewelry shops........please keep an eye out. His remarks were 'it's just stuff' but I know those items have meaning to him. Thanks for reading.
  2. Nice FDE. Yeah, I have the ACR mated with a custom adapter to fit the Bren. I liked the idea of having one in FDE but I wasn't able to easily find a FDE ACR.
  3. Sure. Basics are: Mega Receiver Set / Proof Research 24" Barrel / Geissele SSA-E trigger / JP BCG / Vortex Razor Gen I / American Rifle Company QD Mount
  4. I'm told they are now appearing within the US. Anyone seen one in the Nashville area?!
  5.   I won't go over some of the 'known' items that the OP mentioned, save one, the grips.  I had them made by a guy over at CZFirearms forums.  They are black layers of linen fabric in a phenolic resin.   The magic is in the trigger and the accuracy.  With new CGW internals, 85C trigger and new stainless Ring hammer, the DA pull is a 7 lbs 13 ounces and the SA is a very sweet 3 lbs 13 ounces.  SA reset is 2.5 mm.  Barrel bushing is from Wilson Combat and the lockup is extremely tight, in a good way.  Shot over 100 rounds last night with no hiccups using 230 ball and 230 HST defense from Federal.  As far as accuracy, it exceeded my expectations.  Granted, I'm not a NRA bullseye shooter nor do I handload for pistol, but at 15 yards from a standing two-handed position, if I did my part five shot groups were sub-three inches.   All in all, great feeling pistol.  Had that great feel before sending off to CGW but now the trigger and barrel lockup put this black beauty in a different category.
  6. Here she is! Off to the range tonight....
  7. just got the call from CGW that my 97 is coming back to me this week!     Work performed:   E package including complete internals replacement, hammer, trigger and 1911 barrel bushing Meprolight night sights
  8. Rock on, man.  I came across their website the other day and I find what they do pretty interesting.  I'm sort of half and half on what they offer, however.  If I were to do anything to my G19 and have them do it, it'd be the frame mods.  I'd be leery of messing with the slide for reliability reasons, but that's just my opinion it's not based on any evidence of failures to operate correctly.   The one concern I had regarding the frame work they do was subsequent fit with kydex holsters, since some of them index and retain from the trigger guard.  I reached out to them and they noted that they've seen no loss of retention with quality holster maker's products.  So that was good to hear.   For me........undecided.  I have some other things I'd want to throw money at before this but, like others, I'd be very interested in seeing yours once done and even checking it out in person if you'd allow; to see how the frame fits my hand.
  9. I think it is $50 to do a transfer. That is what I recall from a year or so ago.
  10. Nice write-up! I too recently acquired a 97B and I have been pleased with it. I put on the black rubber grips and have been pleased with those. As one to take things to another level, I've just sent it off to CGW for some internals/trigger work and to install their 1911 barrel bushing. Needless to say, I am excited about my 97's return.
  11. The guys over at Precision Rifle Podcast did a good interview with the guy who developed Quickload. As far as his qualifications, he helped develop the cartridge that would become the 338 Lapua Magnum, among other engineering accomplishments.
  12. saw this yesterday and was glad they still had one this morning   Leica is en route
  13. sounds like you need me to shoot it!   well done, sir.  i'd be interested in getting my frame done with the finger undercut 'neath the trigger guard.
  14. ALG Defense makes a mount like that for a Glock.  They are a sister company of Geissele.   http://algdefense.com/6-second-mount.html

Case closed and one happy customer.  Now, to the range!
  18. Friday update (three days after shipping to Vortex)   I emailed my customer service contact to find out if I would be contacted during the repair/replacement process and could I expect a tracking number notification since I requested a Signature on Delivery.  Here is her response:   We will only contact you during the repair process if we have additional questions or concerns.  You will, however, receive an email from Fed Ex once it has been repaired notifying you it is on its way back to you with the tracking information.   In fact, I just  checked on your scope and see our technician repaired it late yesterday and it will be shipping back to you today!  We are shipping it back to you via Fed Ex Overnight, so it should be back in your hands very shortly.  I hope this information is helpful.  Please feel free to contact me with any further concerns.  Thank you for your patience in this matter!
  19.   no worries, just an observation.  carry on.
  20. I thought I'd share my experiences with the Vortex VIP Warranty as they occur.  Hopefully this will help others who encounter issues with their Vortex optics.     This week, I received a Vortex Razor HD Gen 2 4.5-27x56 rifle scope, Item #RZR-42706.  This particular item number has the EBR-2B Mil reticle with 10 Mil per revolution turrets.  I purchased the optic from an individual who received it directly from Vortex.  The scope was New in Box and had been on order for more than four months.  The original owner sold the rifle he planned to put this on and no longer needed the scope.  I was able to get it from him for a good price.   I received the scope on Monday and was very eager to check out the glass in the fading afternoon light.  I rushed home, opened the packaging and removed the cellophane from the optic.  I went outside, peered through the glass and immediately noticed a problem.  Not wanting to get ahead of myself, I quickly rushed inside and double-checked a few items.  First, I verified the item number on the box.  Secondly, I looked at the manual to note which reticle documentation I received.  Next, I observed the turret markings on the scope.     I then confirmed what I was seeing.  My scope had a MOA reticle.   This combination of Mil turrets and a MOA reticle 1) isn't offered on their website as an option and 2) is not the typical offering of any manufacturer's flagship product line.     I got in touch with the person who I bought the scope from and he was just as surprised as I was.  I then learned that once he received the scope from Vortex, a Vortex rep called him to confirm he received the correct scope he ordered.  They had shipped four scopes to four people on that same day and one person didn't receive the correct item.  Not wanting to ruin the 'New in Box' characteristic, the original owner checked the item number and confirmed back to the rep.  He did not take the scope out and look through it.  Somehow, this scope passed inspection and left Wisconsin with mis-matched turrets and reticle.   I called Vortex on Tuesday morning and described the issue, even telling them I was technically the second owner.  She quickly apologized and confirmed what I told her; it seemed difficult for her to even imagine this happening.  She advised that she'd send over a FedEx prepaid overnight label to me and to send in the scope along with a service request form.  Due to the popularity and national back-order of this item, she couldn't guarantee the usual seven day turnaround time.  Her continued words of "We will definitely take care of it," were nice to hear.  The other caveat was that she, as a non-technician, couldn't confirm if they would replace the scope with a new one or if they would change out the reticle.   Today, Wednesday, the scope will arrive in Wisconsin and I will post more about the communication and result utilizing the Vortex VIP Warranty.
