Middle TN Place to Deer Hunt

Recommended Posts

I badly want to get back into deer hunting this fall. I have NO idea where to go. I have no desire to go back on a Wildlife Management Area. Last time I went, some dumb ass cut down on me with his 30.06.

Is there anyone out there who will allow me to hunt on their land or can I throw in on a land lease?

i would greatly appreciate some help to getting back into deer hunting. Been a long time since I have had some venison.

I'm in the same boat as you are. I lost my lease 2 years ago bowater sold it right out from under us. So ive been doing the Wildlife Management Area and it sucks. last year a small 6 pointer walks out and i was going to let me son take it for his first deer. The next thing i know theirs a bang. Their was a guy about 25 yards behind us in a tree. I'm looking for a lease somewhere around here to hunt this year. I haven't had any luck so far.

Let's keep looking together . . . if I find anything I'll tell you and vice versa

Glockguy, since I see you hunt the WMAs, what's the rule on firearms? Reading the regs (pg 2), it looks like shotty only. On private property, I'm guessing whatever the landowner (or yourself) lets you use? I have some PP that a coworker is letting me hunt on, but I may go to the Cold Creek and/or John Tully WMA.

I hunt the WMA's in the middle TN area, and bowhunt at LBL. I do very well at our WMA's and even manage to take a nice buck or two each year. No problems getting about all the does a person wants to put in the freezer. I also rabbit hunt with my dogs on WMA's. It sure is a blast! I have to hunt WMA's because hunt clubs grabbed up everything around here.

What WMAs have you hunted on in Mid TN?

Good luck,I have given up on deer in east TN.

Very hard to find a place to hunt here.

I'd like to find a place in the Ooltewah area to hunt a couple of times. Nothing serious, just to get out and roam a little. Probably only hunt two or three times at most....
