Ukraine’s Leader Flees Palace as Protesters Widen Control

Apparently the Opposition has captured the Presidential Palace/Seat of Government, and the Pariliament has voted out the former President. Major changes occurring in a still fluid situation.

 

Posted this in General Chat though there is an element of survival and preparedness in it. It is a long piece with a lot of good reporting in it, IMO.

 

There is a video report by a reporter named Olsen embedded in the story that talks about the medical triage centers that sprung up near the square in Kiev where all the demonstrations were occurring. They are marked with a Red Cross made of paint or tape, and appear to be respected against attacks. They are a series of mini-clinics that receive medical supplies through a distribution center at one of the big Kiev churches. They have doctors and nurses and stretcher bearers and such. It all looks so VERY organized and sensible.

 

After that video played another one by Olsen played that showed the equipment and barricades constructed by the opposition, and also shows young women bringing tea, cookies and fruit to the opposition fighters. The young male fighters and the young female supporters. Very interesting to see in action. Also a very good piece.
