Belgian Browning

Dad up and asked me to keep some of the family guns in my safe. One of them happens to be what I guess is an A-5. It's a 16 ga., and it says "MADE IN BELGIUM" on the barrel. Blued trigger. Nothing about "Sweet Sixteen" in the scroll work.

I looked on the Browning website, but the serial number doesn't seem to match up with anything they have posted. There is no number on the receiver side, but there is a number on the lower, forward portion of the receiver. There is "1R" above a five digit number. No pics. Sorry.

Little help determining date of manufacture?

1R serial prefix means its a standard weight 16 made in '61.

If you wanna know the choke, look for one of these codes on the barrel.

*=full

*-=improved modified

**=modified

**-=improved cylinder

**$=skeet

***=cylinder

Thank you. I was unable to determine the year of manufacture from the Browning site. :biglol:
