Yeah, to clean up a 1911 it doesn't take much work.  I've done complete overhauls or custom builds on them as well, but about 80% of the time doing this will give you the reliability and fit that you'd expect from a much more expensive handgun.  The stuff in the video is pretty much well within the scope of the average DIY'er.  The more advanced stuff we may cover on later episodes.  That pistol actually had slightly excessive headspace which we corrected by didn't cover in the vid.

THANK GOD FOR GLOCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, it is nice to get a gun that actually runs 100% right out of the box ;)  Actually, the Glock has a longer/wider feed ramp and the secondary cut on the chamber which is why they feed so reliably.  Basically what was covered in this video was fixing the ramp and putting that secondary cut on the chamber on the 1911 for similar results.  It amazes me that Glock can manage to do this on a $500 handgun yet I've overhauled $1200 1911's that the manufacturer couldn't bother doing a second machining operation on :(

Ha! Yep just picked up a 26 for my new carry. My old Les Baer has always been perfect, but my old springfield had to go back when it was new and that was when they were still made in the USA. My buddy just bought a brand new Springfield and sure enough it had to go back to the factory just last month. Same guy bought one of the cheep Rock Island officers back when they first came around for some ridiculously low price and that thing has never once had an issue, go figure.
