  1. Held one today and would have bought if it had been a 1909. Beautiful gun. Its at farnsworth in Vonore.
  2. Shot my Garand this weekend, thought it was appropriate.
  3. great info guys, thanks much. I am not familiar with the mercury recoil reducer? Something one can buy? I will be looking for someone local that has the gun. Wall Mart can order it for $407.00. Decent deal? I will check with local shops first.
  4. Anybody have experience with these. Shot one today at the range using low power hand loads. Looks very cool and somewhat inexpensive to buy. Thanks for any input
  5. no problem guys, did not mean for it to be a classified ad, just to possibly help a Marlin collector
  6. i have toks from china, yugo, romo, poland and cz. love them all. some shoot good, some don't. my latest is the chrome one from Classic Arms. VERY nice finish but the bore was pretty nasty. Cleaned up better than I thought it would.
  7. I have several and shoot them a couple times a year. 03a3, garand, several mosins, sks, k31, 1905 swiss, and a couple 303 brits. Also have several tokarev pistols,CZ52, mosin, etc. love the war guns.
  8. great time guys and thanks to ian for putting it together. Never had so much fun shooting at targets and not careing if I hit them. Very interesting collection of guns,
  9. Finally got to shoot the Mosin, about 20 rds. and the scope and mount are still rock solid.
  10. I have both go and nogo gages but they are at the gunsmith shop right now. I hope to have them back in a couple weeks if that will help. Bought them from Brownels for around $50.00
  11. I got my mount and AIM scope at the Knoxville, Tn RK show as a package deal. Tried it several times but every time it came loose after about 5 rounds. I just followed this link and modified the mount. http://hstrial-rchambers.homestead.com/early.html# It should work.
  12. I still plan on being there and look forward to meeting everyone. bringing AR, garand, Mosin, etc.
  13. Classic says the Chinese characters say "kill the roundeye" or possibly " #296 beef and broccoly" Got mine from them with the $10 select. $185.00 to the door which is pretty high but I got one in fair to good cond. Stock is rough but the metal and bore is V/G. Not with matching #s Shoots slightly low and left at 25yds. with a good group.
  14. They are like potato chips, can't have just one. Just received my 7th one last week from Classic Arms. A chinese model 53 (M44) $185.00 to the door with $10 hand select. A little steep but an unuasual model.Rough stock but metal ok. More cosmoline than I have ever seen. COMPLETE teardown was necessary.
  15. Thanks much for the link, did not have it. Mosin collection is growing.
  16. ordered one from Classic Arms and got it last week. It required a COMPLETE teardown for cosmoline removal. The stock is pretty rough but the metal is ok and the bore looks good after MANY patchs and brushes run thru it. I stripped the varnish off the stock and applied a natural color oil stain and linseed oil. A little better but nothing to brag about. To rough to sand and have never tried filler. Shot it today at a indoor range with pretty good results. A little low and left but nice group. Classic says the chinese characters say "kill the roundeye" or possibly " Number 296, beef and broccoly" Gotta love it.
  17. Hi, pretty new to the forum but not to guns. Would like to attend. Pretty close to me here in Sevier county.
  18. sorry guys, guess I need some help with attachments
  19. Guess I have not figured out how to add pics. Will try again later.
  20. I forgot to add the pic. The top one has the extended slide release, Harrington f/pin kit, extractor, rollers, etc. Hogue grips and mag extension. The bottom one just the Harrington parts and grips. I would like to try a set of checkered grips. These are pretty slick but with a shooting glove no problem.
  21. Harrington Products CZ-52 Competition and Replacement Parts This is the link to harrington products. Great stuff that really transforms the the gun and makes it safe to dry fire. He does not sell the recoil spring but tells where to get it. I recommend the competition firing pin option. Note: I did get a bent firing pin with the 1st order. they quickly replaced it with a good one. It was not noticeable but was sticking in the hole at the small end. Spun it in my lathe and could see the bend (warpage from heat treat)
  22. I have 2 of them, both tricked out with Harrington f/pins and springs, solid rollers, extractor, wood grips, etc. Trigger pull down to 5lbs. Both shoot slightly low but love the guns.
  23. Hi, new myself and shoot mostly at Gunny's in Maryville, Moose lodge in Knoxville and at the Norris range. Come on down. Dave
