  1. Thankfully the shooter was captured without incident in Nashville on July 23. Source: https://williamsonsource.com/two-men-arrested-charged-in-shooting-of-thp-trooper-adam-cothron/

  3. According to the article below, the SCOTUS ruling will impact all federal agencies. This issue is when Congress passes laws that are ambiguous. Now, instead of the deferring to the executive branch, the federal judges will now have the first and final word about what statutes mean. Therefore, Congress needs to pass laws with specificity when it wants to give an agency authority to regulate on an issue of major national significance. https://apnews.com/article/supreme-court-chevron-regulations-environment-4ae73d5a79cabadff4da8f7e16669929
  4. For in-same-state sellers that require FFL background checks, I doubt sellers will pay for the buyer's fee for the FFL background check since the buyer may get legitimately or by error rejected.

  6. Agreed. Both lists start with: "Under T.C.A. § 39-17-1351(r)(3)(B), the department may issue a permit to a new resident based on the applicant having a permit in a state with “substantially similar permit eligibility requirements as this state”. " "...therefore applicants with a valid permit from these states do not need to provide proof of a safety training course or a training exemption to be issued a Concealed handgun carry permit". Which I interpret as meaning you do not have to perform the Tennessee handgun safety course. I could be wrong.
  7. Sorry, I missed seeing that there are two lists with different states listed. The only difference I see in the wording between the two lists is the second list includes the wording: "Concealed handgun carry" and "to be issued a Concealed handgun carry permit". Perhaps the two lists are due to Tennessee having two types of handgun permits. Handgun Permit Types I would call the Handgun Permit Unit at 615-251-8590 to get clarification and refer them to their own website for Reciprocity. Post the answer you get from the Handgun Permit Unit.
  8. No since Virginia is not on the list of "substantially similar permit eligibility requirements as this state". Use the link below and then expand New Residents. Reciprocity Here is the new URL to the TN Handgun Carry Permits website that you can peruse for additional information. TN Handgun Carry Permits
  9. At least that is according to US surgeon general Dr. Vivek Murthy. Brief synopsis from the link below: Murthy calls on the U.S. to ban automatic rifles, introduce universal background checks for purchasing guns, regulate the industry, pass laws that would restrict their use in public spaces and penalize people who fail to safely store their weapons. None of those suggestions can be implemented nationwide without legislation passed by Congress, which typically recoils at gun control measures. Some state legislatures, however, have enacted or may consider some of the surgeon general’s proposals. https://apnews.com/article/surgeon-general-gun-control-violence-deaths-murthy-24b53f1aaace068e0cb24ae809853f66 Amazing that the article does not include the real reason for increased gun violence is the lack of prosecution and punishment of criminals using the existing laws that are already on the books due to liberal judges, DA's, sheriffs and defund the police actions along with allowing "minor" crimes to be committed with absolutely no consequences.

  11. FYI: The currently accepted deal by the Vista Outdoor board that still needs the approval of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) shows that the Czech-based CSG said it plans to take $1.11 billion of debt financing to fund the deal with Vista Outdoor. https://www.reuters.com/markets/deals/vista-outdoor-sell-sporting-products-unit-191-bln-deal-cuts-sales-forecast-2023-10-16/
  12. MNC Capital Group is bidding to keep Vista Outdoor a USA based company given that the vast ammunition brands used by the public, law enforcement and our military is under the Vista Outdoor company. In my opinion, the fact that Mark Gottfredson is one of the principles of MNC Capital Group and was on the Vista Outdoor board of directors until he resigned in January is an advantage to the viability of the purchase of Vista Outdoor. https://www.reuters.com/markets/deals/vista-outdoor-gets-29-billion-takeover-offer-wsj-reports-2024-03-01/ https://vistaoutdoor.com/brands/
  13. UPDATE 5/25/2023: The three brothers who own the Franklin Gun Shop received no prison time at their federal sentencing on Wednesday for forging documents in an attempt to cover up more than 100 weapons missing from their inventory. U.S. District Judge Aleta A. Trauger sentenced brothers Alan, Brian and Michael Hassler to two years of supervised release and ordered each to pay a $20,000 fine at the hearing at the federal courthouse in Nashville. The Hasslers pleaded guilty in November to making false entries on an official document with the intent to obstruct a federal investigation and making false entries regarding the disposition of firearms. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert E. McGuire wrote that the missing weapons were likely sold to lawful gun owners, but the brothers failed to fill out the necessary paperwork. Faced with a federal investigation, they chose to forge those documents to make it look like other customers purchased them. In short, the brothers "committed a federal crime to cover their own negligence in following federal regulations," McGuire wrote in a sentencing memorandum last week. "This case puts the truth to the adage: 'It’s not the crime, it’s the cover up,'" McGuire wrote. "Though in this case, the cover up was the crime." The charges stem from a 2016 Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms investigation into the Hasslers' family owned business, Franklin Gun Shop. A follow up investigation in 2020 found that hundreds of weapons were missing from the store's inventory with no record of their sales. By July 2021, the brothers were able to find records for all but 144 weapons, court records show. Then, "in perhaps a desperate attempt to keep their family business open," the Hasslers "exercised extremely poor judgment," McGuire wrote. The brothers forged federal records known as Form 4473s by adding the missing weapons to other Form 4473s for previous sales to make it appear the guns had been legally sold, McGuire wrote. ATF agents contacted the individuals on those forms, all of whom kept their receipts to show what they had actually purchased, which didn't include the missing weapons. In December 2021, the ATF served a warrant on Franklin Gun Shop. Shortly after the men were charged, they admitted their wrongdoing to federal prosecutors and moved to enter a guilty plea. Several of the missing guns have been located by the ATF in unrelated investigations, and none indicated any criminal activity on the part of Franklin Gun Shop, McGuire wrote. Franklin Gun Shop's license was revoked in May 2022. The men have also lost their federal firearms licenses. The Tennessean left a message with the Hasslers' attorney Ben Russ seeking comment Thursday afternoon. 14. This is merely a FYI for those people that encounter the issue of the slide not locking back on the last shot which may be caused by the Echelon's slide stop lever placement is further back on the frame towards your hand verses where the Glock's slide stop lever is located on their guns. This is surprising given the amount hard work HS Produkt put into the ergonomic design of the Echelon. At the 7:50 time in the video below, he explains the issue of the slide not locking back on the final round leading to a dead trigger. The probable cause being people with large hands having their grip likely depressing the slide stop. I watched another video from Pew Pew Tactical by the same shooter for the Glock 47 MOS and he did not experience the failure of slide lock on the last shot using the Glock. Just my observation. YMMV.
