  1. Yes Meth is very volatile. A friend of mine was on a drug team when meth first started really hitting the limelight. He said it's a wonder they are all still alive cause back then they really didn't understand exactly how dangerous it was. he said they would go to clean one up without anything more than basic breathers and sometimes not even that. He said he looks back at it now and hopes he's not going to have problems down the road from having to do clean up. Now they won't send someone in with out a full hazmat suit in most cases.
  2. I always carry one spare mag just in case of a failure but there are times I will take 2 spare mags.
  3. I almost had to shoot a pitbull one day while riding. Fortunately the owner stepped out on the porch just as he was about to make it to the road. I had already started reaching for my pistol though just incase he did keep coming. Alot of dogs I probably wouldn't worry about espcially if they are going for my right leg. They will just get a mouthful of metal (prosthetic leg). Let them bite it and bust them in the ribs as hard as I can with my left leg. A pitbull though I'm not messing around with.
  4. I was standing in line at a Redbox one day and a couple of kids were behind me. I heard one of them whisper to the other that he thought I had a gun. Probably 10-12yrs old. They never asked me about but I don't think they knew I heard them.
  5. Cadillac: It falls under the state statues and in Tenn the only places an off duty officer can't carry is in a school (unless given permission by the administration), anywhere that serves alcohol (same as non-LEOs), and one other place that eludes me. Private property bans do not fall under that. I'll see if I can find the Tenn Code outling it. Someone on here probably will beat me to it though.
  6. I can't right now but when I start at the Sheriff's Office will have some overlap in jobs. At that point since I will be a LEO they can't tell me I'm not allowed to carry. Actually looking forward to it :-)
  7. I have a friend of mine from high school that got into some trouble and was convicted. He was staying with his parents while he was still on probation. His dad owned a handgun and he claimed to not know the gun was there. He was charged with felony possession and went back to jail.
  8. if cell phones are better then why did the guy who worked in the Cricket in Charlette didn't need that gun? He had a shop full of phones. (sarcasm intended)
  9. The answer to that is no because the permit background check is only done every 4 years. That doesn't meet the brady bill requirements of a background every 12 months for a firearm purchase.
  10. They told us in our HCP class that if a chest shot doesn't take him down then shoot for the pelvis. Chances are you will hit the femral artery and they will bleed out before getting to a hospital. Not to mention it's a debilitating shot.
  11. If you have a good description of the guy I would call your local PD or SO and report it. Like molonlabetn said they may be on a first name basis with the guy. If it's after 9:00PM, my pistol is on me when i go to do the door unless I am expecting someone. To many crazies out there.
  12. are you talking about a fanny pack? :-) j/k. There is a shop on Lebanon Pike about 1-2 miles west of Donalson Pike. The name escapes me at the moment but I know someone on here will chime in with the name. They have a very good holster selection. Other option is the next gun show. There is usually 1-2 tables there with those.
  13. My taurus is always chambered and ready to go. Don't want to have to worry about chambering one if I have to use my other hand for something else. Fortunately my taurus has a safety and the only time it's not on is with my galco tuckable holster.
  14. To be honest I don't think that one will get passed like it is. Nissan has too much pull in the area with the 4-5 plants they have here. They have a strict no guns policy even in cars. A friend who works there told me about a lady whose husband died. She had taken his car to work and had a flat tire. Well someone helped her change it and when they opened the truck her husband had left a shotgun back there. Fired her on the spot. They for one will make alot of noise. If it does get passed I could see it getting amended to allow companies to restrict access in gated (I would say secure but that's just a joke) areas.
  15. Wallyworld has been going up steadily. Last I checked .40s were $23 or $24 a 100. Reloading has become my friend. have about $.08 in each round.
  16. This is yet another reason I will never move to Illinois.
  17. Honestly Academy Sports in Franklin has had better prices on handguns than the gun shows do. My b-in-law did get a ruger p944 at the last one but could have gotten the same price or maybe a little cheaper. Wayne Mann is who he bought it from.
  18. Pretty sure that is it. Guess I didn't have the right search combo. Thanks.
  19. Yes but they are not there on the weekend. The holster is supposed to be delivered Monday so I am trying to find it before then.
  20. Does anyone here know what Comp-Tac's street address is? I shipped a holster back to have repaired but i put their PO Box on the shipping label. DHL can't ship to a PO Box. I found 2441 McAllister Suite L Houston 77092 on the registration info for their website. Anyone know if this is accurate?
  21. According to state law 39-17-1359. Prohibition at certain meetings — Posting notice. — Posted notices shall be displayed in prominent locations, including all entrances primarily used by persons entering the building, portion of the building or buildings where weapon possession is prohibited. If the possession of weapons is also prohibited on the premises of the property as well as within the confines of a building located on the property, the notice shall be posted at all entrances to the premises that are primarily used by persons entering the property. In order for them to prohibit having it in your car it has to be posted at the entry to the property not just the building. Nissan is a great example. The parking lot is completely gated off and it's posted at the gates when you go in. The way I see it is if it's only on the door and not the entrance to the parking lot then you are well within your right. If they did fire you then that would be a lawsuit waiting to happen.
  22. I have a cheap IWB uncle mike's side kick i bought that I wore all the time until I got my comp-tac. Still some situations where I use the uncle mike's just because I can wear it on my back and you will never see it. Also have a galco tuckable holster. i like it for when I have to dress up but what i didn't think about until after I bought it was gun to skin contact. Make sure whatever you get covers the slide all the way up. The edges of your gun pressed up against you can be a little uncomfortable.
  23. Most of the officers I know and have ridden with (by choice not because I had to) hang their extra set from the spot light handle because they are right by the door and easy to get to.
  24. Yeah I am more interested in the state parks and carrying on public transport (Marta). That should open up Stone Mountain State Park as well as being able to use Marta now to get downtown which when we go to Atlanta is all we use.
  25. Is the facility you are going to be working at owned by the ACOE? If so then you can't. Firearms are prohibited on all Corp property. This includes the lakes that the dams create because those are corp property as well. Still haven't gotten an answer about the rivers below the dams though and I have checked several places. No one seems to know the answer to that question.
