  1. I love that black & white classic movie!
  2. There you go with them new fangled words again ... now I have to look up "steam punk".
  3. Signed in, only 12 spots left, or so it says. Anyway you can see who's already on this thing Joe?
  4.   We could give it a try Scott. I've got a CZ 455 with also a cheap scope. Maybe we could get in the "cheap guns and retired farts" class?
  5. No, thank God I don't have to go to Knoxville for doc visits, I do enough here in my Nashville area!
  6.   Yeah, I do too. Don't need an anti nut case visiting me.   :pleased:
  7. So how many times have you been to your doctor, dentist, chiropractor, or eye doc's office's waiting room only to find nothing but old lady magazines strewed about? If you're real lucky, maybe a Sports Illustrated or Road & Track?   Why not guarantee some good reading during your wait and then paying it forward by leaving a copy or two of your favorite gun magazine? I've been doing this for years.   We all have that pile laying around the house that we can't stand the thought of tossing in the garbage, yet we've read them cover to cover several times. I keep a rolling stack of such magazines in my utility closet and when I head to a doc's office, take a couple with me to slide into the pile. It's pretty fun too if you're a people watcher like me. In will walk a guy that you just know shoots cold steel, and then confirm it when he beelines right for the gun mag you put between Better Home & Gardens and the Nashville Scene.   And it's always fun if you spot a liberal who suddenly gets that "shocked look of disdain!"     So share the wealth and shoot it forward.
  8. Good points Sidecarist.    I still can't help but think that many who open carry may THINK they are ready for a confrontation, that is, until it happens. He may of well been aware of getting approached and froze to respond. There is no amount of training to tell you how you will react until it actually happens - fight or flight (flight can mean not doing anything as they snatch your gun out your holster.)    Unless you're a combat veteran, most won't know. Which to me means all that much more to carry concealed. You then have that choice of fight or flight on your terms, not theirs, and if you walk away, they'll never know it might of gone bad for them. (And you'll still have your weapon.)   I pack concealed with the mind set that if someone is in the process to attack, stab, shoot  me (or all of the above). I'm going to defend myself best I can. I will not know how I will react to such a situation, as it has never happened. But I pray that I live my life without ever having to find out. I don't go looking for gun fights, it's one thing that is NOT on my bucket list.
  9. Please explain how this game plays. Different classes? Yardage? Timed fire? Inquiring minds want to know!
  10. I told Scott I'd give him a Wilson if he'd squad over. He did mean a decal, right?
  11. New guy ALWAYS has to go first. DIdn't you read the rules?!   Too fired up to sleep? Man, looks like we got another shoot addict to contend with. Just wait til you shoot the big matches and you get "buzzer fever"!  :dropjaw:
  12. Hello Ed!   I think you'll enjoy our group. I've met many of our members face to face through transactions and competitive matches and its always been a good experience.   If you've been here 15 years though, I'm afraid we'll have to call you hillbilly rather than Miami native!  :pleased:

    45-70

I thought that barrel looked short. That's sweet. Did you have someone local cut the barrel down?   One (of many) guns of regret I sold was an early JM guide gun in 45/70. My one buddy at deer camp kept his and to this day, hammers 'em down. He doesn't need to track them!
  14. I'm going to attempt a revolver this year ... and I'm thinking of cocking the hammer for EVERY shot!
  15. Yeah, that sure was a silly place for someone to park a Beemer ... at the bottom of a hill on a wet, soggy field. Just say'n!
  16. I'm in.   Guess I'm a gluten for punishment as almost every one of their stages last year had some elaborate mechanical, electrical, gas powered mover! I think they let their rocket scientist stage engineer have a little too much fun, but hey, its still a level playing field.
  17. Aw c'mon Coop, don't wuss out.  I was set to practice 100% mag retention as I didn't want to dig through snow for my dropped mags.    (See ya the 31st)
  18. I love my Marlin 1894. I use it mainly for plinking with mild .38s, and have pretty much retired my .22s from that sport (mainly in protest to the STILL unavailability of everyday ammo).    I would also be interested in the Ruger 77, as I would scope it. Something I won't do to the Marlin.   Hey, I've got yet another reason to buy another gun. Imagine that. I love this forum. :)

They WERE less expensive then the No. 1, but now that they've become quite uncommon, they are bringing quite a bit more if in pristine condition.   I had one in my hands at a gun show several years back in .22 Hornet, but you know how it is ... you can't buy them all.

Anybody remember the Ruger #3s in 45/70? They always quit making the cool stuff.
  21. Saturdays are always more open for me.    I like the idea of keeping 12 noon for winter months, and switching it up to 9:00 am for summer months.
