This is why the pro-gun movement is doomed. We cannot even agree to allow teachers to voluntarily carry guns, for Chrissake!

We should all get behind allowing teachers to be armed. Period.

I cannot believe that so many pro-gun advocates are SCARED TO DEATH OF SOMEONE ELSE CARRYING A GUN!

Sure, it's okay if you carry a gun in a school.... it's your right, but you don't want teachers to carry in schools. Don't you see the hypocrisy in that position?

    This... well said.

Teachers shouldn’t be required to carry, but the ones that want to should be allowed to.  The ones that desire to carry will take it seriously and probably seek training above what would be required.

I have 3 kids in 3 different schools, I’ve met plenty of teachers over the years and know many outside of the school environment.  Some would carry and some wouldn’t, but there would be enough of them that I wouldn’t want to play doors and corners in a school while they were protecting their kids.

  2. Just heard on Red Eye Radio that a suspect was being pursued by police and detonated an “explosive device” in his vehicle killing himself.

  3. I was told that I had to remove food from my bag this summer.  I bought a box of individual wrapped peanut butter crackers and was told I could only have one pack for member of my group.  I just turned around with my son and dumped some in his bag and went through a different line.

  4. Agree 100% with what Omega said, the 26 is your EDC, it was the right gun to take and is more than capable of making those shots.  That being said, now that you’ve run the gun in stressful situations you have two decisions to make, practice with it more or start carrying a larger gun.

A few other unsolicited observations if you don’t mind.

First, you mention you were compensating for bad trigger control by aming high right.  Don’t do that, practice more, you’ve already identified the problem.

Second, start shooting IDPA or USPSA.  These competitions aren’t substitutes for practice or training, but they will help you with trigger control under pressure and not to be ‘owned’ by the timer.

Sounds like you had a good time and learned a lot.

As previously stated, I think the Glock design is plain Jane and boring. I also think that the reliability "advantage" is grossly overstated as most firearms today are very reliable. And finally, Glocks are not even priced affordable anymore.....I mean why would I spend $600 on a Glock when I could spend less than $400 and get a SW M&P that beats Glock everyday now on form and function.

What is “reliable”  “performs flawlessly” to you?

50 rounds standing at the range, clean and repeat?

Monthly IDPA or USPSA match 200 rounds, clean and repeat?

1000 round handgun class rolling around in the dirt, clean and repeat?

5000 rounds, hasn’t been cleaned since it came out of the box?

I have a muzzleloader that’s reliable, goes bang every time, runs flawlessly....

    I’ve only fired it once.

edit: Have you ever fired a Glock?

How have I acted lick a dick? I am just trying to understand why anyone buys Glocks and seem loyal to them......the prevalent answer is reliability which I think most guns are these days. Harp mentioned a continuous trigger pull but that is easily fixed with most firearms.

You seem to have enough experience and understanding of what you like, so I doubt anyone here could tell something about a Glock that you couldn’t figure out yourself by picking one up and putting some rounds down range with it.

Other than looks, is there a tangible reason you don’t like Glocks?

  8. I believe finger placement has a lot to do with the musculature of your hands.

Here is what I wrote in another Glock thread:

Low left shots are very common with Glocks.  Different grips and finger placement work differently, obviously, for everyone.  I’ve noticed with myself if I’m hitting low left with my Glock it’s because I have too much finger on the trigger and the fat part of my trigger finger closest to my palm is pushing the pistol left.  Sounds like you’re doing the same thing.  For me it’s just an adjustment because I have large hands.  A gen. 4 might work for you, can’t hurt to try or maybe Glocks just aren’t for you, there are other great options out there.

There’s always another slice of cake to be had...

This was my point after Sandy Hook when many members of this board were saying that we must compromise to keep from losing everything.  Nothing came of it then and now too many gun owners are singing the same song of compromise.

I've heard many of you describe the bump fire stock as useless, gimikey, only morons buy them, etc....

There are a lot of people out there that use those same words to describe a AR-15.

I know others have said it, but why do we have to give something up every time some loon commits an atrocity?

If the video of the PODS in a pussy hat proves to be him, I say we go after pussy hats! (sarcasm to make a point for those of you incapable of reading into it)
