1. I thought it was great. Not a ton of people, maybe 150-200 but it was a lot of fun. First rally I've ever been to and I had a good time speaking with like-minded people, which I rarely get to do. TNoutdoors9 (he has an excellent youtube channel and does ammo testing) was who I really wanted to meet and he turned out to be a really nice guy, I had a lot of fun talking to him. Also met Hickok45 and his son John, but people were all over them so didn't really get to speak much with them. Jeff and Boge from Gunblast.com (these guys also have a great youtube channel) seemed like some really good people, I'll bet they're a hoot to hang out with. Evidently before I got there some goober showed up with an AR on his back, not sure if he was a plant or just didn't know state law.    Anyway I'm ready for the next one, I hope we can get a bigger turnout in the future.
2. Excellent, I'm glad there's so many people going. Maybe if enough people will show up the media will be forced to spread the news (we can always dream right?). Guess I'll see ya'll tomorrow. I'll be the big goofy guy in the khakis and blue shirt, I hope that narrows it down.

Decockers

Hey ohhh, nice one. I heard her husband went into porn...what an awful image that puts in your mind right? Anyway sorry to high jack the thread here. Carry on.
4. Anyone else coming? I know it's a work day for most but if you can get off without being canned this would be a good time to do it. Hickok45, TNoutdoors, 22Plinkster, and Jeff and Boge from Gunblast.com are going to be there!
5. I'm going to be there Lord willing. Where's a good place to park?
6. See guys? http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/feb/02/white-house-obama-shooting-gun   So obviously we have nothing to worry about.
7. BTW if anyone wants to buy my 2 round Glock "clips" I have several in the trading post. Also I'm looking for a magazine that can hold 100 clips, anyone got one for sale?
8.    Someone might have shared this video link already, I can't remember where I saw it first but I wanted to make sure everyone got a chance to view it. It's insane!    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i05pvOE5ZNM&feature=share
9. Just to be clear, I definitely don't think that Congress is obsolete. I'm saying that's how the executive branch will seize (even more) power, by convincing people through the media that Congress is obsolete.
10.    I know to some this may sound like a crazy conspiracy theory (and maybe it is) but I felt like I should say it anyway. Have you guys been hearing the rumblings in the media (including social media) saying how congress is so slow, horrible approval rating for Congress, or just how gridlocked and useless Congress is? People with half a brain know that it WAS DESIGNED to be inefficient, to prevent the federal government ramming through legislation that isn't in the best interest of the people. Congress is SUPPOSED to be inefficient! However, lately I've been hearing more and more about how useless our House and Senate are...mainly from leftist media groups. So looking forward, and taking into consideration the liberal agenda, what conclusions can one draw from these rumblings? In my humble opinion these rumblings and complaints are just the beginning. They are the first steps toward making the populace believe that Congress is obsolete. With no legislative branch what office do you think will absorb their powers? The executive.       I'm not saying this will happen soon, I think it's many years down the road. I'm also not saying that the House and Senate are full of intelligent people with our best interests in mind, because it's not. It's full of corrupt, self serving, power hungry people. I'm just sharing something I've been turning over in my mind, and wanted to know if anyone concurs.                                                                           Thanks                                                                                TheFinder
11. I just got the same response. It's not just weak, he's basically saying anything he thinks looks good he'll pass, regardless of what we think. I'm not going to lie, it's disheartening.
12. I got a fairly good response from Lamar, no promises mind you but it leaves me somewhat hopeful as to his support of 2nd amendment rights. Here it is:     Dear Nathaniel, Thank you for sharing your feelings regarding the tragic shootings in Newtown, Connecticut. I was horrified by this attack that left twenty-eight dead. My thoughts and prayers are for the victims and those who now live with their loss. As we learn more about the tragedy in Newtown, I think we must look closely at the behavior of isolated young men who develop an obsession with violence. We should ask the leaders of the entertainment industry whether they would want their children--or those who might harm their children--to watch the increasingly violent video games and movies that they pour into our culture. This is not the only cause of violence in our society but it is one important cause. Connecticut has strong gun laws. The problem is not with the gun but with the person pulling the trigger. This is a terrible event for our nation and we must find appropriate ways to respond. I’m grateful you’ve shared your reactions with me and will keep them in mind as we move forward. Sincerely, Lamar
13.   Haha, well if he was around me for long with all my critiques of the current administration (and the previous for that matter) he'd probably label me as a member of Al Qaeda. There's been some great comments so far on this thread, for instance I didn't know a normal joe could make an appointment to actually talk to our reps. I'll have to look into that. Has anyone here done that before and if so what was it like? I guess it's hard to put my finger on what exactly I'm wanting to do here as a group, which is why I wanted to ask you guys. I've already sent e-mails (which isn't much I know), and I'm going to do my best to make my voice heard in other ways as recommended by people here. But, if the worse case scenario happens...I'm going to want to talk to gun owners smarter than me (i.e. most of them) about it. Maybe there's nothing we can do but for a reason I can't quite put my finger on , I think it would make me feel better about it.
14.   I thought I made it clear I'm not willing to entertain thoughts of armed violence...that's not what I'm talking about.
15. I know most people, including me, don't think this bill will pass as it is. However, on the off chance that it does (or anything requiring registration) I'm going to just flat out say I'd like to meet up with whoever is willing in the Nashville area to just discuss things. Like I said this probably won't happen, also I'm not suggesting an armed assault on the White House. I hope some of you understand where I'm coming from, maybe not. I just wanted to throw that out there. Many minds are better than one, and what we do as a group (if anything) would need to be discussed elsewhere than online. What I do personally is private, but that's not what I'm posting about. Anyway, think it over that's all I ask...
16.   That's kind of why I was wondering if people on this forum (and other like minded individuals) should meet up in central areas to talk things over. That is IF a bill like the one Feinstein wants actually passes. I wouldn't really want to write down my thoughts in that instance...
17.   Ok, so I know Feinstein's bill may get watered down and pass, or may not pass at all...but let's discuss what to do if it passes as is. For those of you who don't know what it entails, here is a good video describing what we know so far: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDglpt8hpyg    So what do we do if it gets passed? Do we all meet up somewhere and discuss it? Do we just keep our discussion here? Or do we just grit our teeth and start the paperwork required to register our newly classified "Assault Weapons"? If it does pass I wouldn't mind meeting with some of you guys in the Nashville area to discuss what to do. By the way I'm not suggesting starting a terrorist cell that starts plotting the overthrow of the government.      So as a group what do you guys think would be the best thing to do if this bill passes, (again, not your own personal actions but those that involve us as a group) if anything?                                                                      Thanks,                                                                         TheFinder
18. I'm not too ashamed to tell you guys, I'm scared. There are things at work bigger than just the regressive president at work here. This could be the beginning of the end for people like us in this country. What if it's just the facebook/texting/screen addicts that allow themselves to be brainwashed overnight that are making everyone's political decisions from here on out? A large number of Americans (I don't know whether to say majority or not) will now believe anything the media or their facebook friends tell them. I urge everyone to go http://www.congress.org/congressorg/mail/?alertid=61046526&type=ML to at least try and stop this from happening. The problem is I think their timing and their strategies may have really paid off this time...
19.     Unfortunately they are co-workers so there is little chance of kicking them out of my life unless I quit my job, which I don't really want to do right now. But yes, ignorant and foolish are good words, but I would choose the word dangerous over those two. Incredibly dangerous. And the problem is I can just imagine all the sheeple in the country repeating statements identical to the ones my acquaintances made. Maybe this is what the Mayans were talking about...
20. Ummm...ok just ran across this article on the NRA Facebook page. Please excuse me if my link doesn't work, the last one I copy/pasted didn't work right for some reason (thank you to Dolomite for fixing that link for me) but this article is titled "Cuomo Says He Will Outline Gun Proposal Next Month" and it's from the NY Times.       http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/21/nyregion/cuomo-says-he-will-outline-gun-measures-next-month.html?_r=3&   Here's the quote that made me look twice and then grimace:   In the interview, Mr. Cuomo did not offer specifics about the measures he might propose,  but, while discussing assault weapons, he said: “Confiscation could be an option. Mandatory sale to the state could be an option. Permitting could be an option — keep your gun but permit it.”   I'm wondering why he thinks "confiscation" would hold up in court? At this point is there a possibility that it could? How about "Mandatory sale to the state"? I would be truly flabbergasted and enraged at the thought something like that could hold up in court, and normally I'd say no way it could. However, things are getting INSANE right now! I've have acquaintances I've always considered conservatives that would stand up in defense of the 2nd Amendment, and they're saying things like "Well, shouldn't SOME guns be banned?", or "Why do people need assault weapons?". Of course once asked which weapons should be banned or what an "assault" weapon is, they have no ground to stand on. It's like these people have been brainwashed overnight. I'm really freaked out guys!
21.   Did anyone else read/hear in many reports for days after the shooting that Lanza (the shooter) left his Bushmaster AR in his car and did the actual killing with his two handguns? Now all of a sudden they're saying that he used the rifle to do the killing. Was this just media confusion or are they changing the story now to help push along their anti-gun agenda?      Also does anyone else think it's ironic that Eric Holder (who's now working on this "assault weapons ban") is fine with giving "assault weapons" to cartel members and drug lords in Mexico, but thinks the American people don't deserve the right to have them?      I have one more point to make: Had this "assault weapons ban" been passed...say...last year. Do you think that the events at Sandy Hook would have been different?
22.     As far as the assault weapons and hi-cap magazine ban read this     http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/white-house-president-supports-assault-weapons-ban-other-210135332--politics.html    The only hope that an assault weapon/hi cap mag ban won't happen is if somehow the GOP majority in the house can stop it. Obama supports it, as well as maybe even more legislation. As for ammo regulation that's just IMO the easiest way to cripple the firearms community, and therefore the most likely tactic to be used in the future.  Obviously I could be wrong on the ammo regulation but it's just my opinion.
23. http://www.facebook.com/BoycottCheaperThanDirt   Check out how many "Likes" this page has gotten in such a short amount of time. I'm not sure CTD will be able to live this one down.
24. I'm confident we will see an "assault" weapons ban, as well as a hi-cap magazine ban in the next few months being voted on. I'm also confident it will pass. If this is all that happens within the next 4 years IMO we can consider ourselves lucky. My biggest fear (and probably many of the people on this forum) is ammunition regulation, as the 2nd amendment doesn't really protect us from that. Making ammo (including reloading supplies) prohibitively expensive, or banning NATO used calibers would be an enormous blow to us (the firearms community), and IMO wouldn't cause a tenth of the backlash that firearm confiscation would. I'm fairly sure those type ammo laws would hold up under supreme court scrutiny.    Maybe I'm being a "Negative Nancy" here but I believe that this is the beginning of the end for our 2nd amendment freedoms. Don't get me wrong, they've already been eroded, but I believe we are now on the "fast" track to the end. I said this in another post but imagine when everyone in America has "free" health insurance provided by the Democratic party. Think about trying to beat them in an election! I sincerely believe that in maybe 20-25 years (of continuous Democratic admins) the firearms community will consist of only a hand full of wealthy people across the country who could afford the red tape BS, and with only minor backlash from the public throughout the process to get to that point.    Agree? Disagree?                          TheFinder
25.
Mine is a bone stock tactical model with the 16 inch bull barrel.
Nice...that's one I really need to get. I just have the blued carbine version, I love it, but the bull barrels look and perform so good on the 10/22. Did you replace the barrel or did it come with a bull barrel?
