  1. Android. More options. Also most are faster than the iPhone. At least with most Androids you can upgrade memory with a microSD. iPhone you can't. Almost every app on iPhone is available on Android. There are apps that even match or out do Apple's Siri. Check the HTC series or the Galaxy series. Side by side Android out does iPhone. But it depends on your needs really.
  2. Thoughts and prayer for you and her and your families. Stay strong, that is one thing that will help you both in this trying time.
  3. I was going through some old cassette tapes I found I had packed away......yeah I know.....and came across a few songs that I could not identify. The one that still is unidentified is a song about William Quantrill. The lyrics goes something like "Old Quantrill came like thunder from them there hills." I've tried search the internet but can't find anything. It was like a country or folk type song. It came from an old recording of the Truckin Bozo show back in the early 90's.....also on the recording was Willie & Merle doing Pancho & Lefty. Does anyone know who sang this song. My google-fu came up with nothing. Thanks in advance.
  4. This makes total sense. Why change something so simple and open a can of worms that has long been sealed. There are laws on the books to protect us with an HCP. That's good enough in my opinion. They have to have something in the books in black and white to go on when they encounter the individuals carrying/possessing without an HCP (mainly those who cannot get one) in the legal system. It's just checks and balances in the system. Sometimes it's not easily understood, but it's there anyway.
  5. The clerk was upgraded to fair condition this afternoon. No word yet if he is still on a ventilator. But yeah. I'm not waiting for an "oops!" or "my bad!" You shoot at me I'm shooting back. Supposedly the video system in the store shows it was intentional and not accidental. I like this quote. ( http://www.indystar.com/article/20120917/NEWS02/120917017/ ) “If you shoot us,†(Don) Davis (owner of Don's Guns) said, “we’ll shoot you right back.â€
  6. You are right he is the highest priced shop in Indy. I was there about 6 months ago or so. He wanted $899 for an Xdm 40 (all black $989 for stainless slide). It's right in middle of a crime hotspot. Alot happens there related to the shop but it's not publicly announced/connected. I've only been there 3 times during the 35 years I lived in Indy. Not a place worth taking a chance to visit.
  7. http://www.theindychannel.com/news/local-news/1-killed-in-attempted-robbery-at-don-s-guns-in-indianapolis http://www.theindychannel.com/news/local-news/911-call-reveals-details-of-fatal-shooting-at-don-s-guns-that-left-one-dead-one-critically-injured 2 other links to another site. From what I hear there was 2 shots that hit the clerk.
  8. I moved here from Indy. That shop "owner" is pretty ruthless. He had a clerk killed back in '97. Since then he has made a "rule" for employees. Someone pulls a gun they do not walk out alive. Knowing how Mr. Davis is this is not surprising. Play stupid games win stupid prizes.
  9. When I went to pick up today I looked at the 4473 before I signed it. I did not include my SSN . Not sure if that was the problem or not. But dealer faxed my appeal around 5pm Friday the 7th. Appeal was overturned the 13th. He was notified today, the 17th. Guess not too bad overall. Now to find a location to shoot this baby.
  10. I Not a clue. TICS said they will notify dealer whether upheld or overturned, that was all they will do since they cannot release any other info. Maybe it's that I'm a dang ol' yankee lol.
  11. Well I got a call from the dealer today. He said he got the OK to go ahead. I was approved. The lady I spoke with at TICS last week said to give it till today. And imagine that today it was pushed thru. I'm relieved. Thanks for all the input from everyone.
  12. rant&rave I thought it would be worked out days ago. Especially since I have gone thru the HCP thing recently and if I'm ever delayed on NICS it's 1 business day 2 at the most. I understand busy but it's been a week. I tried calling a few times to check on it. I was on hold for over 30 minutes twice (Wednesday & Thursday). I called a third time and went right in after just 2 rings (Thursday night). Only to here we have it, that's all we can say. But we have 15 days and it's not been 15 days. WTH! I really am hating TBI/TICS. I know I just need to be patient but I haven't heard anyone say it took them this long on an appeal. Just feel like I'm Sorry I'm just venting. /rant&rave
  13. I visited Buckshot in Jacksboro. Guy said he only charged $10 for transfers. Plus the $10 TBI TICS tax. Not bad really everywhere else I checked was $25 or higher.
  14. Words to live by. Especially being that having struggled to get everything one has just to sit back and let it be taken. And "just let them go at least you have your life" as others always say. Well anyways......... Hope it turns out well for the truck owner.
  15. Maybe he was in fear of the thief from being hurt or killed and was trying to kill the Ford. But as said it's not going to sit well for the truck/gun owner.
  16. I asked that question before I even started looking to get the rifle and was told not an issue as long as I have all my state (TN) dl & hcp already then i'm legally a resident. Maybe they were wrong and I have to be here 6 months. I don't know what it is, but it's frustrating to say the least.
  17. AARP membership? You qualify at 50. But in all serisnous, you can never go wrong with a reloader.....it's the gift that keeps on giving. And once you retire you will be well versed in the process, then can reload for your friends who don't and make a little money on the side.
  18. Good deal! +1 to you sir. Everyone that shoots should bring aboard a few others to the shooting scene. I recently took both my step sons to the range to get them involved.
  19. I understand that I've got to be patient. It's just I've never had these problems buying a gun before. I know it's a little different with the TBI/TICS involved compared to just a straight NICS check. I guess it's just that I'm frustrated with being "denied" and that lady being short/rude. It's just all new to me being this is first FFL purchase since being here. I guess it'll work out in time. Again Smith thanks for your input.
  20. Ok I filled the appeal form out and dealer faxed it Friday (9/7). I called today to TICS to make sure they received it, thinking it would be resolved by now. The lady on the phone was almost rude about it, just said "it shows in system that it was received the 7th we have 15 days to respond and what i need to do is wait till friday and call my ffl then cause they won't tell me what the outcome is." I asked if there was any reason given for denial she said she "can't say". I asked if it was cuz i've only been in state a few months. she again said "don't know". she said all she can say is "give at least 7 days and call dealer Friday, we have 15 days to process your appeal." And rushed me off the phone. Never had I had this kind of problem. The worst ever was delayed on NICS on Thursday and got call on Monday. Less than 48 business hours. But that was long ago. I'm starting to dislike this Tennessee TICS crap. I'm starting to think I should've just went 20 miles up and went to Mike's in Middlesboro and avoided TICS and saved a little $$$$ too.
  21. I'm thinking I did....I always have before. But I did on the appeal I just submitted. ETA: I have my HCP. Was issued first of July. This is why I am confused, being just went thru the background a few months ago. I don't know.
  22. Just heard from the shop. I was "denied". Guess they don't like my yankee a** lol . Not sure what its all about. I've bought several guns in Indiana from ffl's over the last few years. Guess it's off to fill out the appeal. What a headache. Took 3 weeks to find this rifle and now this.
  23. I shall envoke my 5th admendment rights to this question. hmmm...could that be the problem????????
  24. Went home....the shop was closing for the day. TICS told the dealer they were waiting to hear from another agency. Sat at the shop for about 45 minutes.
  25. Ok I went today to buy my first gun since moving to Tennessee. Moved here in May. Got my permit in July. But today went to buy a new gun. The first since I moved here a few months ago. Dealer did the TICS online. After 20 minutes of no response they called TICS and was told they were waiting to here from another agency. Is this cause I just moved here recently? I purchased from a dealer in my old state 3 weeks before I moved here with no problem. Just don't know why this happened. I almost feel embarrassed. The dealer said it's never happened in his store before. Anyone have an idea why this happened?
