  1. Very nice, Daniel. Simonov needs to learn to spell "deity", also. Unless, of course, he really is that concerned about his caloric intake. I love it when stupid people try to say smart things...Oh, and Mr. Briscoe, for someone who is apparently so concerned about rhetoric, I'd love for you to explain to the class about the efficacy of trying to make your point by first attacking your target audience. Alanis Morissette called. She wants her irony back...
  2. I was gonna post this, but I didn't wanna call you out in front of everyone...lol. M4, this is probably exactly what was happening with your G20, as well. The heavier recoil spring has now compensated for the limp-wristing.
  3. Check the pic again. It has a thumb safety (with no notch in the slide for it to catch, oddly enough) and a 1911-style trigger. I'm not denying that this pistol exists, but something is not quite right...
  4. I don't know either, but after I get a couple of beers in ya' tomorrow afternoon, I'm gonna find out...
  5. Now, if we can just find someplace with a 1000 yd. range (you still working on ORSA?)...I suppose we could bust the AR-10 out of cold storage and go shot-for-shot. Guess I'll have to sell the kid to pick up some .308...
  6. +1 by far, but there was a pretty good wait at last check...
  7. The ceramic finish is supposed to be tougher than just about anything else out there--even tougher than the factory Nitron finish. Time will tell on that one... Astra's post pretty much answered the first part, and I was too dumb to take any before shots. Didn't even occur to me until I picked up the finished pistol and realized how good it looked. I will tell you that the slide had a pretty significant amount of holster wear, as well as a poorly-milled spot where a serial number had been removed (probably a European gun). The gunsmith did an excellent job of cleaning up the spot, and you can't tell it was ever there now.
  8. PM'd ya'... Thanks for the kind words. CCA is in West Knoxville (Farragut, actually), so it's only about a 15-minute drive from my house in Powell. I took the gun in, explained in detail exactly what I wanted to have done, asked a few questions, and then just waited...
  9. Well, it took just a wee bit longer than I had originally hoped, but the guys at Coal Creek Armory really came through. I had a West-German made, police trade-in, Certified Pre-Owned Sig P226 that I have wanted to spruce up for some time. I finally decided to have it refinished in flat dark earth ceramic, and I also added some Truglo TFO sights and a Hogue wraparound grip. I couldn't be happier with the end results. A big +1 to Eric, Richard, and JWP at CCA for taking care of me. So, without further ado, here is my new (old) baby...
  10. I'm heading over there at lunchtime today to pick up my last transfer before they close their doors. Jess and the guys have been my FFL since I first got into the hobby a few years back, and they've always been helpful and informative. The forced move to the new location really hurt them, as well as the fact that ownership did not stay ahead of the curve by anticipating demand pre-election. As many folks now know, if you didn't get your orders in early, you weren't going to have any new inventory once the vendors got swamped. The end result is what you see now--an empty little shop that just can't compete anymore. It is a sad day.
  11. Just out of curiosity, why .40 S&W?
  12. +1 on both paragraphs.
  13. I guess we can add reading comprehension to your ever-growing list of intellectual deficiencies. I don't recall saying anything about subscribing to any sort of conspiracy theory. I simply found it ironic that someone could be so curt toward those who had the audacity to question the veracity of claims made by the PEOTUS, all the while swallowing hook, line, and sinker belated claims made by a goverment agency that has everything to gain by catering to said PEOTUS.I swear, I find it increasingly difficult to have any sort of intellectual discussion with "your kind"...
  14. How interesting that you would be so condescending toward those who have raised questions based on information that has been circulating on the internet, and yet the only "proof" that you have offered to support your position was a statement attributed to the Hawai'i Dept. of Health (whom you rather naively assume could in no way be in cahoots with the PE) that was posted on Obama's website and "all over the internet". Huh.Around age 12, you should have developed the ability to reason logically. Were you not apparently deficient in this area, you might have seen the irony inherent in your argument. As it were, you chose to become belligerent and insult the intelligence and motives of anyone whose opinions did not match your own (again, ironic). For someone who claims to enjoy "calling out stupidity", you might want to take a look in the mirror. Ought to find plenty of enjoyment in that exercise... Please.
  15. They're porcelain actually, and they don't show up on airport X-ray machines...
  16. I, too, have had nothing but pleasant experiences with the current salesfolk at CCA, and JWP has been courteous and professional in responding to my PMs here on TGO.However, I am compelled to point out that I have had one issue recently that has still not been resolved (70below mentioned this earlier in the thread without naming names). I took my Sig P226 in to be refinished in ceramic back in October, with the promise that it would be ready in "3 to 4 weeks". It has now been 10 weeks and counting that I have been without my only 9mm handgun. I began calling and PMing at 5 weeks, and every time, I was told that it would be ready in "a couple of days". Obviously, this was not the case. Again, my dealings with JWP and his staff have not been the least bit acrimonious, but that doesn't mean that I'm not becoming more and more impatient by the day. I'm eagerly awaiting the return of my handgun, as well as to see what sort of relief I'll be offered for my inconvenience. As one might guess, the outcome of this situation will go a long way toward determining where I choose to spend my money in the future...
  17. I can't believe that this thread has survived this long, and The Rock has yet to be mentioned. What the hell is wrong with you people? Do the names Nic Cage and Sean Connery ring a bell? Am I the only one who thinks that was one of the coolest movies of all time? Face Off is another sweet film that fits the bill, albeit to a lesser extent. Also, I'm gonna get laughed at for this one, but the CGI Transformers was a pretty bad*ss gun flick as well, if for no other reason than the sweet 40mm MGLs in the last battle scene.
  18. Umm...hello? Kettle? This is the pot calling...Also, I retract my earlier statement about not passing judgment on those who disagree with my stance on this topic. I am now silently judging you...
  19. Umm...I'm pretty sure that whenever you're behind the wheel and run over a pedestrian, you're going to be held liable, whether you're involved in a low-speed "chase", or not. This isn't Vice City...
  20. Crap. I guess there's a couple hundred MORE dollars I'm gonna have to throw at it. Gotta be legal, you know...
  21. I have that same model. I added an infrared laser and collapsible stock...
  22. It ain't just Memphis. There were at least 9 vehicle break-ins in downtown Knoxville Saturday night--including my girlfriend's. She lost A LOT of stuff. And for the poster who said that we should basically all live in fear of the potential repercussions of confronting a criminal and back down, I must respectfully disagree. Your choices are your own, and I will not judge you for taking a passive stance. My choice, however, is to never sit idly by and watch another innocent be harmed--either physically or financially. I could not bear to live with myself if I had the opportunity to prevent a crime and did nothing. I am prepared to accept the consequences of my actions, whatever they may be.
  23. My now-ex-wife went into labor with our little girl at 30 weeks. The ultrasound showed no fluid in the placenta, and the doctor did her best to prepare us for the worst. Somehow, during the ambulance ride to the hospital, the contractions began to slow, and the next ultrasound showed that the sac had somehow refilled itself. The doctors had no explanation, but my wife was able to carry to term, and my little girl was delivered healthy as could be with a scheduled C-section. I'm not a big fan of the term 'miracle', but I've got no other words. Ever since, I've tried not to take for granted just how fortunate we were, and I am now reminded of this fact once again. David, either directly or indirectly, you have touched the lives of hundreds of us here in this community. We are your brothers and sisters, so please do not hesitate to allow us to share your burden as best we can. I'm not much for prayer anymore, but I will certainly say a prayer for you and yours tonight.
  24. Bought both my Kimber Pro Covert II and my Remington 870 Tactical Spec Ops on Gunbroker. Saved about $200 on the Kimber and well over $100 on the Remy. Both were brand spanking new. I always read the sellers feedback, and I focus only on the neutrals and negatives (it's too easy to fluff the positives). I typically try to contact the seller before bidding, as well.
