  1. It's good to hear that they're going to take care of you. I've never dealt with their customer service, but I have heard good and bad things. I can't complain though, all my stuff has made it to me intact and quickly.
  2. It kills me I'm missing out on picking one of these up... but I finally decided to start back to college for an edjumication and hopefully a new career.
  3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-q69mE40Lz8   I freaking lost it right there at the end.   I didn't see this posted, so I wanted to share.
  4. Close to the same price, within a couple dollars, of a hand select one from Classic. Wouldn't be bad to stop by and pick out your own though.
  5. I've been getting emails about unissued SKSs from SOG and now from Classic Firearms. They have a video posted though... and how has it got my drooling. Freaking gorgeous.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1mfe8P65HE   Anyone decided to order some? I had pushed it out of my mind and told myself I didn't need one... until I was looking at this video.   Here they are at Classic   And   Here they are at SOG
  6. I had to do a double take when I read a text that said they had shut down the Bradley mall. Any gunman walking in there is going to find a ghost town. That place has been dead every time I've been in there for many years now.
  7. Sounds like there are plenty of hot places I have to check out  :yum:
  8. The girlfriend and I are heading off to Nashville for a couple days next month. I wanted to get some input from those in the area or those that have visited on things to see/do and good places to eat.  Sadly it'll be the week after the NRA AM, so that won't be an option.   So far Hattie B's is on my visit list. As a person who loves hot food, I'm looking forward to it. I've also heard of a place called 400 Degrees that I may check out as well but if there's a place with hotter food I'd love to hear about it. The girlfriend isn't into spicy food so I'll probably only have a chance to check out one or two places.   I think the Belle Meade Plantation will be high on the list of things to visit. The Hermitage would be nice as well, but I know there are far too many things to see in and around Nashville for a short two days haha. May just have to plan for future visits.  :) So I appreciate any input.
  9. I'll have to step out on getting this knife as I've had other things come up. Sadly work bonuses won't be available until weeks after the availability ends. Beautiful knives though, I'm sure everyone will enjoy them.
  10. So I'm heading off to Florida soon and was thinking about carrying both firearms with me. I have a Sig 2340 and a P238 for when I want some light carry.   I was going to have one on me and the other in my bag. I was going to bring both so I could carry whichever one was appropriate to the activity I was doing/where I was going in Florida. Would I have any issues carrying and having a loaded firearm in my bag while traveling? Should I just keep the ammo separated from the one I'm not carrying?   I just didn't know how much of an issue it would be while traveling through states if I were to be stopped.   Thanks.
  11. Sorry for the delay, busy busy holidays. It's way better than I expected honestly. I was expecting a much later year than what I got. I ended up with a beautiful 1930 Tula. I was figuring that the older stuff had already been imported, put into the market, and that this was going be a 1940s year. So I was pleasantly surprised when I got it. It's covered in markings, just like a Mosin. I'll have to do some looking around and see if I can find some information on some of it. I've always loved history and the old firearms are definitely filled with a lot of it. I wish it were possible to really know the journey some of these old guns have taken, but it's fun to imagine where they've been.
  12. That's the reason why I choked down the cost and went ahead and got one from AIM. I really regret having not taken the opportunity last time I had seen them for sale.
  13. Well, I've been unable to get any pictures, camera isn't cooperating. The serial numbers match on everything except the scope, it's been electro penciled to match. It also has no date on it.   The rifle is extremely nice and has a ton of  markings on it that I'll have to take some time to figure the meaning behind. There are way more than I've seen on any of my other rifles.
  14. I have to say I'm definitely interested. I'm looking forward to seeing the prototype, but I'll go ahead and say that I'm in on getting one. Serial number doesn't matter and I'll take a regular blade.
  15. Little brown truck stopped by the house and brought me a present! I'll try and get a few pictures tomorrow.   I wasn't sure what to expect when I opened the box. I'm so used to dripping cosmoline but this was fairly cleaned up. I will ask though how I should clean up a little remaining cosmo that's on the scope. Just a little heat and a cloth do just fine?
  16. So here's another item I've been keeping an eye out for but I haven't seen it at AIM, Classic Firearms, J&G, SOG, etc etc for sale at all. So I have the ones that offer in stock notifications to let me know when they get one. So it kind of blew me away, after so long, when I got an email from AIM that they had some in stock a short while ago.   I go to the website and the little $100 revolver is now almost doubled in price at $189. I guess more and more there are no more "cheap" surplus guns. I guess supply and demand have definitely taken their toll.   So far they've went from available, to out of stock, and now available for preorder. I guess if my searching for the past year has been any indication it won't get any better, just worse. I guess if anyone has been waiting to pick one up maybe now is the time. I wish I had been able to get one back when they were around the $100 area.   Here's the page for the preorder.   http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=F3Nagant&name=Russian+M1895+7.62x38R+Nagant+Revolver&search=nagant
  17. Well it appears that Classic Firearms is matching the price as well.   https://www.classicfirearms.com/m91-30-w-scope-and-mount   *Edit   Alright, well, I decided to order one from AIM Surplus. I went with them over Classic because they're giving free shipping whereas Classic wanted about another 18 in shipping.
  18. "Barrel condition is not guaranteed, however, the bores we have inspected have far exceeded our expectations." This part of the email is what made me wonder the kind of condition these were in. It made me a bit cautious about getting it, because I don't know exactly what their expectations were and what I could expect to see when I got one.
  19. So this is the cheapest I've seen a Mosin Sniper for ever since I started paying attention to the prices of c&r firearms. I want to say I've typically seen them going for about 799. Aim has some for 549. Would this be my best bet for getting one? http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=F3MOSIN9130PU&name=Russian+1891%2f30+PU+7.62x54R+Mosin+Nagant+Sniper+Rifle&groupid=254&utm_source=03+Collectors&utm_campaign=c8349ea4fe-11072014CR&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_9df2ba8aca-c8349ea4fe-19251113 Hopefully that link works, posting this from mobile.
  20. Talk about an experience!   I've always seen ads for the different models of Springfield firearms in different magazines and thought they looked cool, but never checked one out. I was in the area of Benton Shooters with the girlfriend and we both decided to stop in and have a look around. I got to browsing the pistol case when I saw a good looking, but used, XDS. I asked to see it and instantly fell in love with the look and feel of it.   The price tag was $500 for it, my giddiness and excitement over it almost lead me to buying it right then and there, but I decided to give myself some time to cool down and check around on prices. It's a good thing I did too, because I was able to go to Volunteer and they had them brand new for $499. On top of that there's the Springfield Gear Up promo going where you get three magazines for free. I took the night to think on it. Do I get the .45? The 9mm? 3.3" or 4"?   I wish I had had a chance to fire both of them and make my decision, but I didn't have that luxury. Well I went in this morning and picked up one of the 3.3" 9mm. I figured I would enjoy that extra two rounds it provided. I traded in one of my other pistols I didn't shoot and the final price made it a no-brainer to pick it up. Volunteer threw in a free range visit for me to have some fun with it, and fun I had. I think the biggest problem was not enough ammo and what I did have went way too quick! Nice weight, nice shooting, fits great in the hand, and I liked the sights. Those will probably get replaced down the road though.   I still managed to get myself in trouble with the girlfriend though. I noticed the look she got when I was all excited over it, and then the look when I was looking at buying it. All the questions she had been asking me about what I liked, what I looked for, etc, in a gun had been her narrowing down a Christmas present. Specifically an XDS. Oopsie  :nervous:
  21. Here's is ALL there is for markings. I don't think the last two are anything at all, but included anyways.
  22. Quick shot of that one before bed, from my professional photography table.
  23. The stock definitely has "character" to it.   Have to say, definitely jealous of the Russian beauties 06sandstone has been posting in the forums here.   I have another one I picked up cheap that had been sitting on the wall of a pawn shop forever. All mismatched numbers and whatever owner had it before decided to weld a scope mount to the rear housing on the rifle. :ugh: Plus I had a friend give me ~500 rounds that he had just sitting around if I bought it. So it didn't turn out to be too bad a deal.
