actually we've had this discussion here before. You are supposed to voluntarily pay sales tax on anything purchased out of state where sales tax cant be "collected" from an in state retailer... but in most cases they dont know about the item, it cant be registered, so therefor it isnt inforcable. Guns are trackable nad traceable.... kinda like cars and atv's. So...You are supposed to "collect" the sales tax if its a new gun coming from a wholesale gun distributor. Example CDNN... If the buyer doesnt want to pay the sales tax then we have to give him a special form from the Dept. of Revenue where they will volunteerly pay the sales tax to the state. If he doesnt, and we get audited... then its on him. Now some people say "Whats the difference in me getting my new gun from a wholesale distributor like CDNN or my used gun from Ma and Pa's old gunshop in anywhere Texas??? The difference is, as an Retail FFL holder, Im getting invoiced for the purchase at the gun distributor level... they report everything that is invoiced and shipped to me to the State of Tn Dept. of Revenue. The transaction between you and Ma and Pa's old gunshop isnt set up and reported that way. So, in the mind of the Dept of Revenue, the gun from Ma and Pa's old gunshop isnt reported to them... therefor the transaction doenst exist in this state. So its simple... I do transfers for $30+ $10 TICS. If its a new gun from a Distributor... then I will attempt to collect the tax, if the customer decides they want to pay it themselves... then I give them the form. If its coming from Ma and Pa's old gunshop its none of anyones buisness. IMHO! Hope this makes sense.

If you decide to go ahead and carry in a Fed. park...you show whomever stops you a copy of the new federal law... and there is no way they are going to prosecute you. Its too much in question right now, and if they make a mistake its their azz on the line.

Im just going by memory, Im too busy to look it up... but my point about jurisdiction is, even with all those type of jurisdictions... if you have a Federal officer on the scene, and a state officer on the same scene... I think the federal officer has to prosecute. If the federal officer says your good to go, the state officer cant prosecute. The federal officer overrides the state guy... this is a constitutional matter.... IMHO.

Another reason to always inform them up front even though you dont leagally have too. He shouldnt have handled that stop like that at all. Matter of fact something should be done about it. Pm or email me his name and badge number and a copy of the ticket and we'll do something about it. .

nope... didnt you know there has been a recall on the collapsible concealed lawyer 3.0? We had one years ago... it gave us all kinds of trouble. In the most inopportune times it would spring into action. One time while driving down the road it intentionally tried to take control of the vehicle and cause me to be involved in an accident. Another time we were walking down the sidewalk in downtown Nashville when it expanded and tried to push me out in traffic. Both times we were saved by Fireman 4.2, Doctor 2.0 and Nurse 3.1 .... We called Bar Tech support about the Lawyer and they ask if it was showing a $$$$ code, which they explained ment we needed to feed it. It was... In the end we finally we decided carry all the baggage involved with Lawyer 3.0 was just too much of a hassle.

To clear this up, a civilian can legally carry a baton in Tn if they have completed the training by a certified (post I think) baton instructor. Carrying the baton isnt as good idea as carrying and using the most potent peper spray out there. We carry FREEZE +P in civilian key chain sizes, and it works great. You ask any police officer out there and they will tell you FREEZE is the "TIZZLE" in bad azzed pepper sprays. Stun guns dont work because you have to get in the attackers reach to use it. IMHO tazers have thier limits as well. I'd go with a good spray.

If you want 1st rate service your going to have to go to the stores in person. Introduce yourself to the owner and tell them what you want in person. Dont call on the phone... and expect the sales staff to ignore their customers standing in front of them to answer 30 minutes of questions on the phone. Dont email and expect an answer in 15-30 minutes... Dont call asking stupid questions or get your wife, kid, or girlyfriend to call... when they dont know jack shiet about what you want... Brand, model, caliber, style.... You dont call down to the local car dealer and ask them... "Dude, do you sell cars?" ... "You do, well how much are they?".... "I like trucks... ya got any, How much are they".... "I got a trade in, its got 4 wheels and sounds really good... How much will ya give me for it?".... Come in and talk to someone in person, if you dont get satisfied.... let the owner know right then or at the earliest convenient time.

my other problem is its going to take me an additional hour to complete the form. Im already spending 30-45 minutes of class correcting the BAD INFORMATION in the OLD video... They never send us out new information on reciprocity states or changes in the law... they never got our new instructor certifications out on time... and the permit holders renewals are never back before they are supposed to be. Why cant they just do their jobs??? Its not like its rocket science! Ex: I went down to the Drivers License Testing Center and renewed my personal carry permit in person 48 days ago, I still dont have the new one... and it expires the 30th of this month. Any bets as to when I will actually get it? Another example: What ever happened to all that permit renewal money the state collected the last few years, when they wernt performing the required and paid for background ck's? See us citizens paid for those background ck's to be made... but they werent, so wheres all that money now? It didnt go to a new video, thats for sure. 15 years later Im honestly tired of having to clean up the states messes...

what about the public right of way of U.S. highway 453( the trace) that goes right thru there?
