What's the divorce rate in this country? Sometimes you get a good one the first time. Sometimes it takes several tries. What's the old comedy line? I don't get married anymore. I just find a woman who doesn't like me and give her my house....

Some years ago the American Cancer Society had an anti-smoking commercial. It was animated with a Bambi-like deer and the voice-over told you in a voice like you would talk to children about how cigarette smoking contributes to the risk of cancer. At the end, the narrator asks, "...and why do we talk to you like children? Because when we speak to you as adults...you don't listen."

As I've told Tower, this is my anniversary weekend and I don't know if I'll be able to shoot or not. More likely I could get to lunch, if you folks are doing lunch first. -
A valid point. I think I've posted about the POS American Ammunition I bought in 40 S&W for rapid fire practice. Looked OK, but some would not allow the USP to go into battery. The first round that would not fire was a bit of a mystery to me. A cursory look at the handgun seemed OK. A closer look showed that the pistol was not quite fully in battery and that's why it properly would not fire. There are just a number of problems with the Glock design.

Well...you CAN lower the hammer, but it's a bit tricky on a compact. Yeah, I'd try www.hkpartsonline.com. They couldn't help me back when, but might be able to do so now. BTW, with a bit of filing, you should be able to turn your variant whatever into a variant 1. I don't recommend that though. I't hard stainless steel and personally, I'd get a variant 3 plate.

Talked to my wife on the phone and she said Mr. Haile (not Hale) lived in Tomkinsville, Kentucky. His cousin Christine was the one who introduce my wife to him. Found this link about him: http://www.wku.edu/library/kylm/exhibits/inhouse/ongoing/haile.html

Great pics of great kids! I've never seen one of those baby straitjackets before.

Hey, you are right! A finger lock should come with every Glock.
-
This is the first thing I thought of. Keep the ball of your finger centered on the trigger. If you get into the joint, it will likely make you shoot left.
-
I've never tried it. Those I've talked to about it liked it.

I have to admit that the Otis kit is normally supplemented by other cleaning gear. But it all fits in a mechanics soft tool bag that is easy to throw in. But in a pinch, the Otis kit by itself is usable as it comes.

Haskel (Hack) Hale, was (dead now) a guitar maker. Not well know except in the music industry, but he made guitars for a lot of top country stars. Also known for refusing to make guitars for people like Willie Nelson and Jerry Reed because they wouldn't take care of their instruments. After his death, the Smithsonian had an exhibit of his guitars and one is in their permanent collection. He made a guitar for my wife many years ago after being introduced by a mutual friend. He insisted on having her sing so he could match the guitar to her voice. At the time she was working for a bank and got a call that her guitar was ready. She couldn't pick it up that night, but did the next. Mr. Hale said he was sorry she couldn't come the night before. Chester had played her guitar when he was over that night. Chester? Chester Atkins. Wife still has the guitar, but severe arthritis makes it impossible for her to play now. I have a friend who keeps trying to buy it from her, but he's only offering $1200.

If I can make it, I'll wear my Glock cap. -
Boy, that's bass ackwards.... Remove the slide, push the pin on the left rear that holds the plate, replace with proper plate. push pin back. Replace slide. About 30 seconds time.... The real problem is getting the plate. H&K won't sell directly to you. You'll have to find a H&K certified armor if you don't have special friends.

Actually, I don't keep any spare parts. Only part I have is the detent plate for a variant 1 USP that I replaced with the variant 3 plate. With H&Ks, you aren't likely to need any parts. That's true of other quality pistols too. I replaced the recoil spring in my Beretta 92 after 20 years, not because it needed it but because someone gave me the part. If I kept any spare part, it would be the recoil spring. I doubt any other part is likely to ever wear out with half-way decent maintenance.

RandyC Ever heard of Hack Hale?

Oh yeah. You'll be up a tower with a handgun in easy view of all the nasty American hating people with rifles hiding among the trees. Got a Plan B? -
Oddly enough (???) this matter came up while I was on a plane yesterday. Well, actually I was in a plane. I was with some military and military type guys and we were talking about handguns. A bunch of us had owned Glocks but don't now. A couple of guys now own Glocks. Someone asked them why they had a Glock rather than a H&K and the answer was the H&K cost. Another guy chimed in that what he was talking about was just money cost. The real cost comes if you have the wrong weapon for the job. (Whatever that might mean....) Tally: 12 active combat guys age 20s - 50s 10 have owned Glocks 2 now own Glocks. 1 plans to keep it FWIW
-
Always the correct response.
-
I'm hoping, but not counting on it.
-
Better than what? I like the Hi-Power. Almost bought one rather than the Beretta. Went with the 92SB because of reliability. And it has a hammer to de-cock and re-cock, unlike some handguns.

Sounds good for a Kingsport meet this time to me. -
Glad someone knows that. But one of the reasons our library policy is written as it is is to allow the librarians, as well as the patrons, to pack. County employment policy may countermand that. I haven't checked. We do have one library branch on school grounds, but the rest are OK to legally carry in. We just say no illegal weapons.
