  1. Oh crap. This is an imaginary situational that you imagine in your dreams. When you have a real situation that involves actual personal proscription let us know. Otherwise please don't waste our time. I can do lots of stuff in my dreams... When you do it for real, let us know.
  2. I'll wait for other word from Fallguy, but I think the AG ruled in exactly the opposite way.
  3. Glocks have the simplicity and lower costs and reliability with normal factory ammunition (but nothing else) that is highly desirable. It just has some safety concerns. Some people are willing to pay more for the same reliability with greater safety, and some aren't.
  4. I understand your point, and I don't approach people based upon what their public persona is. Most of the jobs I have had depended on my ability to understand the person under the personage. But honestly, I think I'm not John Q Public and definitely not John Q. Cop. I'm old enough to have grown up with hippie culture. I have some facial hair myself these days since I one again retired.... I groom myself depending on what job I have. No I do not have piercings but I would if part of the job. I still look "neat" in accordance with my age. In short, I look "normal" but with facial hair that indicates some degree of superiority. I take advantages within social structure where I can. It's an act, but it works. But I think you will find me a lot more "liberal" than most LE folks. Unkempt folks will get a lot less respect from most people involved in LE. As I say, right or wrong, that is the reality. You need to dress for success, as the saying goes. Your actual views are only important to your friends and you. You are smarter to dress for outside success and have your friends understand (and hopefully learn) from that.
  5. No problem. That's fine. The reason the P7s (P7M8 in my case) fit in with the guns with hammers is that it can be de-cocked and re-cocked. In fact it happens automatically with the P7 family of handguns. A very good idea, IMHO. With handguns like the USP or Beretta 92, I can (and do) de-cock before holstering. Also, the P7s can be field stripped without dry firing (as can the XD-M) It's just a very well thought out weapon. Maybe I missed your point. The reason to de-cock is for safety. No Glock Butt or Glock Leg (at least with no field stripping). The reason to re-cock is the superiority of SA over DA.
  6. There are different ways to approach people. If I just walk up and say, "Hey what do you think about what the Sheriff said the other say about.... (fill in the topic)" I'll probably get one answer and it won't be informational. If I come in and say, "Hi. I heard Sheriff ... say blah blah blah the other day. You know I've been in Federal LE for years. Just between us and it won't go any farther, what do you think of that?", I might get a bit better answer. If they aren't comfortable, I'll grin and probably get an answer later. In all honesty, don't expect an answer if you don't look professional. Long hair is not considered professional unless you are exceptionally brilliant, even in academia. It looks affectatious or immature. Sorry, but that's the truth. No one but your immature buddies will be impressed by your long hair. Want a raise?.... Not putting anyone down. I like individualism too. Just speaking the truth. But most people aren't like me. For me it's fine, if not well thought out. For most people it's an indication of lack of maturity and someone they can't trust.
  7. Know of any besides the P7? One of my experienced concepts (don't want to call it a rule) is that the gun must be able to de-cock and re-cock. That's the only thing that keeps the XD-M off of my approved list.
  8. I think this is a valid point. If you carry into a place with an invalid sign and they ask you to leave and you argue with them, then you have committed a crime. It's fine to ignore invalid signs. But it is not OK to stay one more second after they ask you to leave. That's criminal trespass.
  9. I use the Blountville ECU pretty often and also ignore the sign - but I only do concealed carry in there.

    Perfect song.

    Well...that was different.
  11. I used to use Agent. But it has been so long that I had to look and see what I used.
  12. Not being there to hear the conversation and judge the content and tone of the conversation, as well as the body language, I can't judge this. Could be that you hit some cops with an attitude. Could be that they thought you were acting like a long-haired smart-ass. Fair or not, appearance does make a difference. Just a reality of life. If I'm talking to LEOs socially, I don't generally try to talk business with them unless they bring something up.
  13. This may be a strange eating day. Cook's Illustrated sent me, in email, a recipe for Grilled Cheese Sandwiches. Just enough different about it to give it a try for lunch. I know that sounds silly, but I'm going to try it with sharp cheddar and a six-cheese Italian blend. Of course I'm going to have it with a shrimp cocktail on the side and maybe some American fries. Looks like a taco salad for supper, if I'm sober enough to fix it. Speaking of which. I dropped by the liquor store (in Virginia) yesterday for re-supply. As I got out of the car my eye caught a younger lady (~40) that I recognized but have no idea who she is. She saw me and started talking. I think she had had a few beverages earlier herself. She wasn't driving. Guy was at the wheel and another person and dog were in the back seat. She was very friendly.... Asked me if I wanted to get naked with her. I told her that sounded good, but that I needed to get some booze right then. They were all gone when I got back out of the store.

    Packing Heat?

I understand they changed that policy some time ago, and as far as I know they didn't call the cops even before. They just asked you to leave. As I understand their current policy, they let you carry in their stores in accordance with local law.

  16. Well, our refugees headed back for NO yesterday morning. Looks like they should be back just in time for Ike to make them leave again.
  17. Soldier want a.......well never mind.

    Packing Heat?

I'll go along with that! http://drought.unl.edu/dm/DM_state.htm?TN,S
  19. It depends on the state. Yes in Louisiana, no in Tennessee without a permit.
  20. Most of the time it works for me, but occasionally it doesn't. Must be demons living in the code.

    Packing Heat?

He didn't say he has his carry permit. He was just asking a question, I guess.
  22. Yep, most do. Some models have a spring return from the safety position disabling it. I just don't use the safety on my 92SB.
  23. Very nice. I normally kill graphics in sig lines, but I'll keep yours.
  24. ...that sometimes goes away during adrenalin flow. Lots of dead folks who somehow couldn't instinctively remember the "learned response" to remove the safety while they were under attack. No safety, but you can always do DA, unlike a lot of guns. Plus if you cock the hammer, you are just like a Glock. Basically, you are like a H&K USP variant 3. That's a good thing to be.
