I'd spring for the M&P 22, IMO the 12rd mag is a huge advantage for plinking and makes it that much more fun! Because its a little bigger, it allows newer shooters to nail the fundamentals and have a more fun time learning - but for the experienced shooters, it sometimes feels like cheating! The only Achilles Heel is the sights, IMO, they need some work, but I wasn't blessed with great eyes either and just about require 3-dot or target FO sights! Either way, you can't go wrong!

URGENT - Permit-less Car Carry in the Senate Tomorrow
wk05 replied to wk05's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I think that there are three groups of people who will see a big benefit - (1) those that aren't old enough to get an HCP (2) spouses who won't go get an HCP but whose other wants them to but don't want to carry everyday (3) those who for some reason can get, but don't want an HCP and car carry anyways now! I have one person in mind - corporate attorney I worked with. Guy is a BIG hunter, and loves rifles, but isn't interested in carrying on his person everyday, but would be interested in starting to car carry. I hope I can get him to go buy a handgun and begin car carrying this summer! -
I saw on GTs website that they will put sights on a Glock for free, but they charge for all the others. Wonder what they charge if I have sights in hand.

I will definitely keep in touch as I spend a few weekends a month up that way!

I know it's a touchy subject asking a fisherman for a decent spot to fish - BUT, does anybody in the Chattanooga/Cleveland area know of a decent area to try and fish for some eatable Crappie?

Right on! That is what I heard from my Senator as well. I don't think Haslam would outright veto a pro-2A bill of this sort considering election times are nearing. Not to mention he signed the original "guns in trunks bill" under a LOT more heat from big business than this has received (thankfully). -

My 19 will most likely be my vehicle gun as well ;) OS - that is what I am concerned about. I believe for the most part that Sessions are about adjourned, and I can see Haslam trying to veto it. Anybody know what the course of action would be then? -

We're approaching that pretty rapidly. Can't wait till it becomes law. Too bad we have to wait till July 1st. -

Anybody have a source for a good sight installer in the Chattanooga/Cleveland/North Georgia area that can install a set of aftermarket sights on a Glock 19? Not a huge fan of Shooter's Depot, and have been considering GT distributors as well.

Exactly why I drive around with hard copies of relevant legal precedent and case law (as well as TN Firearms Statutes) set that would be applicable to any situation I could find myself in! -

Correct as to how the Federal legal system works in the aspect of case law. If it were to be precedent set by the 10th Court of Appeals, the precedent would still not be followed as law in TN as we are not in the same district - the judge/prosecutor would treat it as a case of first impression. They could use the ruling in Colorado in their prosecution/defense, but it could only be relied on as a secondary source and not necessarily cited and used the same as statutory law would be used in said case. Long story short, if a similar case would happen in TN, you can't use the simple defense that a CO Fed. Judge ruled that guns were allowed in the USPS parking lot, you would have to force a case of first impression onto the federal judge almost as if the CO ruling didn't exist. Don't know how some can enforce the law without a basic knowledge of the legal system. -

My first thought was - "peered through his Simmons scope"! Cant say I've ever heard of a SWAT team sniper that couldn't get a better optic! *Sorry for getting off topic. -

What's the point of carrying a weapon in the car with you? Because I would have no other way of carrying. Your comment of "either go get an HCP and carry all the time or don't get it" is asinine. It's really sad that you have the NRA logo on your profile and counteract the work that they do to promote said legislature... As I've stated before in this thread, this is a HUGE help to those of us who aren't 21 yet, and therefore can't get an HCP - just because I'm not old enough to buy a beer doesn't mean my life has any less chance of needing a gun in my vehicle. Your last paragraph truly amazes me - I could easily apply the same laws the anti-gunners use to carrying everyday (i.e. the odds of you needing your gun are less than winning the lottery or being struck by lightning). Bringing 2A rights into this is absolutely reasonable as its been probably the biggest expansion of the right in TN since they passed the HCP legislature long ago. Next time you go to think about any expansion of rights to the Firearms Community, you might want to look at it from the point of view of those who it will help - OR go call the Brady Campaign... -

Why should I be disarmed because I can't get an HCP. My vehicle is an extension of my home - so you obviously are not pro-2A and might as well be there with Haslam picking and choosing the 2A bills that you like. -
Yeah, I kind of expected so from FGS!

Remember the price? Really only looking for 9 though.

$50/piece ? If a HCP Holder pays $115/ 4 years then it ought to be a hell of a lot more than that! Say - $15k, the lowest cost it would take to offset the court's cost of having a HCP holder carry past the sign take a case to trial? -
Has ANYBODY in the state of TN found one of the Longslide 5" PPQs in 9mm in the state of TN? They appear to be as rare as unicorn tears and I am helping a family member look for one!

I would've loved to go that - but its almost finals week :/

Here's how I feel the law should be - either drastically improve the current training or remove it. I personally feel that the training received in the cookie cutter 50-person classes is as I've said before " a piss poor excuse for training". The fact that people I know have been through the class and still muzzle me and fail to remember basic TN Carry Laws amazes me - but thats society. I feel that anybody who can own a gun has the right to carry it (with or without training - as the law permits). If you are responsible enough to own a gun, you should be able to carry it... Reader's Digest Version - Improve or Remove Training & Allow All Gun Owners the right to Carry.

The ban-aids were a great touch! Score 1 for Microtech, and Score = 1 for being able to carry it in TN in T-minus 2.5 months!
