  1. The ORSA IDPA club will having a classifier this saturday at 11am at the action pistol range bay 7. $10 and a minimum of 90 rounds for your pistol
  2. Just to chime in here. I think you'll find the welcome and helpful attitude anywhere you find an IDPA club. I've been shooting IDPA for just a little over a year and usually finish up middle of the group when it comes to speed where I started towards the bottom. But really what it all comes down to is fun. Plain and simple, I dont shoot to compete, I shoot to have a good time.

    CigarBid

Also cigar.com. They run a 5 pack deal every day and a good deal on the weekends too. Pricing is not at all unreasonable. I still buy some locally but for the most part it's cigar.com and cigarbid.com
  4. Tora Tora Tora, the ultimate attack on Pearl Harbor movie.
  5. If Dooley is whoring himself out to directtv and other advertisers within a month of being here you know we're in for more of the same.
  6. I'd definitely be in too. One thing I cannot stand is trash on the roadside. Helloooo Cyring Indian anyone? I'd go with this logo: Tennessee Gun Owners: Protecting you from trash since 1796.
  7. Naples Italian Restaurant on Kingston Pike in Knoxville(Bearden Area). No posting. Just a no smoking sign on the door.
  8. You do want to crimp. If you don't you may start running into problems with setback as the cartridge loads from the magazine into the chamber. Your .45 die seating die should have the ability to crimp. Just for reference I've used what Lee calls 5.1g of 231(used the dipper that came with my die set) behind 230g hardball and had no trouble out of my sig 220. I shoot lead these days so I have not shot this load recently but my last notes said it was snappy and performed well.
  9. Just to add to the cool things being auctioned. I see Joe over at Hero-Gear is offering a Fantasy Range day for all the Tennessee Friends of the NRA events this year. Shoot full autos, a Barret 50, plus other fun guns to shoot. He might even let you see the Ferrari. Pretty cool
  10. Since I did not see this posted already I figured some of you might be interested. They usually have decent give aways plus there's always something interesting they're auctioning off. Details: Date August 20, 2009 @ 1800 hrs (that's 6 PM:)) Where Rothschilds Catering 8809 Kingston Pike Knoxville 37921 POC Bill Huff 865-922-4348 billjhuff@tds.net Tickets are $45 or $40
  11. Well not to scare you guys off, but they'll be sharing space again at the Expo Center with a Craft show so don't expect the whole room.
  12. Ommegang Abbey Ale and an Ashton Maduro #15. A high gravity beer. 8.5% ABV. I'll definitely be going back for more. They call it a traditional Belgian dubbel. I call it good.
  13. Now that I hooked you with the ATF event line. It's Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. I was thinking a day of shooting with your fellow TGO'ers, friends, family, whatever. After shooting off to another location for the alcohol and tobacco portion. Seeing as how so many TGO'ers enjoy a fine cigar and a nice adult beverage it would be a fun sort of social gathering after a peaceful day of lead throwing. I'm still trying to hash out specific type details. Unfortunately for us here in Knoxville the Knox Cigar Company closed their doors as that would have been a good place for a smoke and a drink. I'm sure there must be some other business in the area that could be accomodating but I honestly dont get out much. Failing a commercial venue, perhaps a BBQ where guests bring "sample" drinks and smokes. Just tossing this around as a social sort of gathering for us like minded folk. Thoughts, opinions?
  14. Just returned from Aubrey's in Maryville at the corner of 321 and 129. Not posted. Not sure about their other locations.
  15. Last weekend we took a road trip down to Hero Gear and Benton Shooters. Along the way on 24 we stopped at the first rest stop/welcome center in TN once you leave Chatanooga. I open carry. No need to discuss the why and where for's. Anywho after "conducting my business", and going back out to my vehicle, the private security guard comes up asks me to place my weapon in my vehicle. I politely responded that I would not. There are no signs posted in/on this facility. I told him as much. He said it's state property, no carry. I told him he should familiarize himself and his superior who directed him to approach me, with the law. No one seemed paniced over the MWAG. Another driver from out of state asked me about TN carry laws after observing our interaction. The private security guard went about his business and I mine. Just keep a lookout. It is legal to carrry in rest stops in TN unless properly posted. Rest stops are not a prohibited location per TN39-17-13. And being a state owned piece of property it should not be posted at all.
  16. Yeah that 1554 is good stuff. Same thing I was drinking last night. That skinny dip from New Belgium is OK but not near the top of the list.
  17. Yep, tight pockets. I reload their .45 and it's the same way until you've seated a primer or two in the case.
  18. I'll second Missouri Bullet. I've bought several thousand from them in .45 and .357. Good quality at a fair price, shipped quickly.
  19. Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy, a lemonade and beer mix. Surprisingly good. New Belgium's Skinny Dip. Their summer seasonal. Also good.
  20. It's my opinion you should always open carry. The more people see them the less likely they are to have these irrational fears of guns. I've open carried exclusively for the last year and have received no comments or questions. Then again I'm a large, hairy, scary dude so most people steer clear of me anyway.
  21. Was in Coal Creek this past Saturday and it looked like pretty much all new staff in there. Big turnover or just time for a change ya suppose? Seemed a bit friendlier to me. I've stopped going there since they didn't seem to put any money into the range area and were more interested in selling to the high speed/low drag tacticool crowd. I was in looking for a Brommeland holster since they're just about the only stocking dealer around.
  22. I've got a defender as well. Same thing happens to me as well. It unlocks pretty quickly once fired. I haven't really spent a lot of time on it, but I actually find it pretty handy for chucking spent shells quickly. However it can catch you unawares.
