  1. Even money? SIG!! But I'm a slab side fan. I just love a gov model.   But why choose..Since we are imagining that the money is equal, lets imagine I can afford to buy both...at the same time! :2cents:
  2. Sounds great. I will be out of town during the February ORSA shoot, but I will try to make March. If I can be there, I will drop you a line. Thanks.
  3. Thanks. I appreciate the heads up. I will get in touch with them in the near future.
  4. So if I want to bring two different guns, I can say....shoot 9mm in the morning and then shoot my .45 in the afternoon?
  5. A gentleman that I used to know that worked for KPD used to carry a Beretta while everyone else was carrying Glock. According to him, the department has an issued weapon but also has an approved firearm list and an officer can provide his own preferred sidearm as long as it is on the approved duty gun list and it is signed off by the Chief. Can't say that is gospel, but my grandfather carried his own S&W as a Captain with Knox County before he retired. That was after they went Glock also.
  6. Awesome. That would be great. Is there a rough number on amount of ammo I will need?
  7. Nope. I'm planning on attending one as a spectator to take it all in and see what I will need to "play." I'm not expecting to be ultra competitive  I just want the practical application and trigger time.
  8. Morning news reported here that the City of Knoxville is trading in their Glock .40's and will be issuing the Sig .45's. Model wasn't specified.
  9. I'm interested as well. I'm on the opposite side of Knoxville, about the same distance as Oak Ridge is. Somewhere in Knoxville would be good for me.
  10. Hey no kidding. I'm glad to know I was already giving Dave my business. I bought powder and primers from him at the post Christmas show. Look forward to seeing him again.
  11. Indeed! I may well know them. I used to do a lot of gun buying in Vonore. Farnsworth Firearms. Haven't been out there in years though. Is he still there?
  12. Welcome! You've come to the right place. There is always someone here that can help answer any questions I come up with.
  13. Welcome! Congrats on your purchase.
  14. Greetings from the opposite end of the state and welcome.
  15. Thanks for all the intel. I will definitely be visiting both ORSA ant TAC2. I'm TDY on the 2nd but will try to be at ORSA in March. I should get back just in time for TAC2 on the 9th.    I really appreciate all the input. Hope to see you all there.    *Edit due to poor typing skills......
  16. OK..I'm just jealous of all the training so many on here have had. I would LOVE to get into some combat focus training, Handgun 1, Carbine 1...anything really. Unfortunately affordability has been my primary obstacle coupled with time availability. I'm open to suggestions on cost friendly schools and somewhat nearby locations. I need to get the training but have to factor every expense by two as my spouse will expect to join me.    As per military training, what I have had access to in my service is not to be discounted, but serves a primarily different role than training geared towards civilian carry where the law is more of a factor. And to be honest, as a Field Artilleryman, handgun courses, qualifications and training are non-existent. Our rifle training is not as thorough as it could be and crew served weapons are our best friends. Our primary focus is that 155 Howitzer and I still haven't found a way to conceal it under my jacket.
  17. I'm with DaveTN on this one. At the point you are defending yourself from your bedroom and the intruder is coming in...lawful lethal force is a given. Shoot HIM through the bedroom door before he can see that you are only hiding behind a mattress.
