What Really Happened in the Gringrich ethics case ?
Oh Shoot replied to JG55's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Even if absolutely true, it's senseless to virtually guarantee further and more rapid degradation of 2A with Obama's coming Supreme Court picks. - OS -
I can't believe this state has never seen through Lamar once he left the governorship. First thing he did was cripple UT -- it has never recovered to its former funding and academic ranking. Dumb decisions while Sec. of Education, a department that should be abolished in the first place. Thank Gawd the rest of the country dumped his presidential ambitions. Twice. But affirmed the Peter Principle with election as US Senator, where he might as well be a Blue Dog Dem. And padded his pockets all along the way. Somehow he remains a favorite son. Sickening. - OS

I gotta admit, Romney has impressed the hell outta me tonight. None of the stuttering, great blend of forcefulness, fact, and humanity. That new debate coach is worth the bucks, whatever he's getting. God help me, he's actually acting presidential! Gingrich's been on the verge of being Resentful Crybaby Newt tonight a few times. - OS

Very important point. Other important point to Crimson et al, who are sick of perpetuating "the system": Guys, you're right. That's how I felt last election and voted Libertarian. But more than any other election in my lifetime except for LBJ, and even MORE than LBJ, this sitting president must be stopped! He's unprecedented in scope. He's the Prince of Freaking Darkness. He's Evil, truly Evil in the sense of any way you choose to define Evil. Last election, third party votes didn't matter in TN. I hope they don't matter this time, if TN stays good and red, but I urge everyone not to chance that in the general. I may well not even vote in the primary, but urge everyone to vote for the GOP nominee, whoever he is, in the general. - OS -
Well, the studs on the one ZT I handled (350) was somewhat more utile, just because the knife is thicker. The Skyline is I guess the thinnest knife Kershaw makes, so them little studs just can't be any longer or they'd stick out past the frame. ' Course, they could have just used a cross bar as blade stop and done away with the studs altogether. That's how most of their mid to low range assisted openers are designed. Or I guess that Tyrade you link, too, unless it has a pin/frame stop like the Buck Vantage line. (that offset thing on the other one is pretty wild, btw). But what the hey, the Skyline is a helluva knife for 30 clams or so (for the regular black G10 model with uncoated satin finish blade). They have been selling them at Wally's even, haven't checked in a while. - OS

Probably not, but there seems to be a better chance this year that neither Mitt or Newt will have the delegates by convention time than any time since 1976. I remember that pretty well -- neither Ford or Reagan had the delegates from the primaries. But Ford did squeak by on first ballot, so it didn't quite go into it. - OS -
HB 3499 (Faison)/SB (Beavers) - intent to go armed re-defined
Oh Shoot replied to GKar's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yeah, you could put it that way to them, but the legislature would just get that glazed look in its collective eyes as if you were speaking Swahili. - OS -
They're really not meant to be used on the Skyline, at least as primary opener. They are actually the blade stops. No other bar or anything to stop it. - OS

HB 3499 (Faison)/SB (Beavers) - intent to go armed re-defined
Oh Shoot replied to GKar's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Makes no sense to moi. If you have an HCP and are charged with carrying past a sign, "intent to go armed" isn't a consideration. If you don't have an HCP, you're guilty of two charges. Unless they decide that carrying a loaded gun without a permit is legal. In which case we no longer need HCPs. - OS -
I've ordered from them two or three times, seems I didn't get a delivery email either...it's supposed to come through the UPS site, I think. Seems like once I got the notice on same day it actually arrived, something like that. But I did get the orders pert quick. If you registered on site, you can log in and supposedly see your order status, but I never did register, so I couldn't. - OS

another biased anti gun hut piece from al jaretessean
Oh Shoot replied to 1pointofview's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
BS. By his own admission in newspaper interview, he went to physical, hadn't bathed in couple weeks, even to extent of having feces smell by defecating in pants, etc. His two student deferments were BS too, as he was touring, doing also by his own admission 300 shows per year...etc. Finessed enrolling long enough to get them or somesuch. The poaching incident he paid his way out of; hell, he did it on a show that aired. Of course, he runs a "shoot 'em through the fence" hunting preserve too. Yeah, I'll rally around a guy like that. - OS -
One suggestion: bite the $$ bullet and stick a Kahr PM9 in yer pocket and be done with it. - OS

I might rally around Chuck, but not around a draft dodger and poacher. - OS -
What was really said between them is ironic enough. Besides his other traits, O has turned into a paranoid. - OS

Rights? Under Home Land InSecurity? You must be some kind of terrorist just to ask. Assume the position. - OS

Helluva blade. Almost unique in its sleek design, thinness, simplicity, and light weight. My first one wouldn't pop open worth a crap, took it apart, cleaned, lubed all kinds of stuff. Sent in to Kershaw, came back same, except with a stripped body screw sticking out. After enough fussing, they finally just sent me another one and it's fine. What it is I finally figgered out when I got the good one, is that the detente bead and hole are out of spec, just doesn't hold it long enough for the flipper to build up any resistance, always had to give it a pretty snappy wrist flick assist. I keep the old one around for odds and ends. Why Kershaw couldn't see that, I dunno. - OS

IMO, any holster that adds the attachment at the already thickest part of the whole shebang is less than optimal. - OS

I'm hoping for a brokered convention, with none of the above being drafted. - OS -
'transfering' permit from another state to TN
Oh Shoot replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Just a note: Can't say what it was in 07, (wouldn't think they'd change it, though, unless PA lowered their requirements) but that's what it is now: "Pennsylvania Applicant must be twenty-one (21), take a DOS approved handgun safety course, complete the Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit application, provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency, pay one hundred and fifteen dollar ($115.00) fee and be fingerprinted. " - OS -
And then they had the troubles with some runs of the third party contract mags too. - OS
-
With the 92FS, two 30 round mags, a number of extra GI contract mags, and the matching Sub2000, I'll take on Mr. Li. - OS
-
Just a tad, yes. Could certainly feel diff when I first put them on. As you know, it's already a fat sucker to begin with. I'm surprised I find it comfy (but I do), as I don't have very large hands, actually think they're smaller than average for a guy 6'2". Got 'em about 15 clams cheaper from Sportman's Guide about 4 months ago. Yeah, trigger, safety levers, mag release are all polymer coated steel, or at least steel alloy. Lotsa folks think they're pure plastic, but a fairly strong magnet proves otherwise. The frame including backstrap and trigger guard is either aluminum or non metallic steel alloy. (edit: looked it up, it's aluminum) The only thing that for sure seems to be pure plastic is the guide rod and possibly the lanyard attachment, though it's probably aluminum too. Gun is recent Italian manufacture, 2009. - OS
-
I like mine well enough that I bought it the factory walnut grips. Think I'll get a metal guide rod for it ... the plastic one works fine, but bugs me having it in there with an other-wise all metal gun. - OS
