  1. It's not defined in TCA, but you can be pretty sure most will measure from tip all the way to handle, since only "blade" is used -- "edge" or "sharpened portion" etc is not mentioned. If it's really close, does SOG spec the blade at 4" or what? If it's marketed as extactly 4" overall bladed knife, I'd print their specs and keep it in wallet and not worry about it. - OS
  2. The clumsy definition of "unloaded" in TCA notwithstanding, as Bkelm said, just separate ammo and guns, one or the other in the trunk if you have one. For folks without trunks, as separated as possible -- ammo in locked container, though not required, certainly makes it clear cut as to accessibility. Loaded mags okay, just treat same as ammo itself. - OS
  3. The US constitution? Where is this delineated there? He was pardoned by a state, not the president. It's a states rights issue, not federal jurisdiction. No, it doesn't. It has a law against anyone ever convicted of a felony owning firearms. Your cogency is not improving. Betcha a beer it goes the other way in the court to which it was sent back. They'll say in essence if he wants to own firearms and/or get a permit, move back to Georgia. - OS
  4. Somehow I can't recall ever getting but ONE speeding ticket in my life. Hard to believe, as I was as leadfooted as most at least up until about 45 or so. I did get pulled over a good bit though through the years. I was once charged with driving on the sidewalk, so I've got that rare badge of distinction. The ONE speeding ticket I recall getting was in a UT van, just myself, coming back from Memphis where I'd done a big AV show. Wife and I were going down to the Keys the next day and I was really boogying back at night. Some guy passed me around Jackson just flying, so I sped up and just barely kept his taillights in sight, figuring he could run the interference. He slowed down through Nashville, then turned it back on, as did I. Sure enough somewhere before Crossville I see the blue lights ahead, so I slow to speed limit, figuring it had worked. But low and behold when I grew nigh to his pullover, the THP feller was half standing in my lane with a big flashlight signaling me to stop and converse also. I asked him if we might have a little professional courtesy warning, being two underpaid State employees and all. He laughed and said maybe, if I hadn't been clocked (somehow or where, he certainly hadn't passed me) at 92! (Our department's van wasn't governed like many already were in late 80's). He was nice enough to write it for the 10-15 over, whatever it was, to avoid the worst. - OS Edit: Just remembered one more time, much earlier in my illustrious career when I was gypsying around the 48 as a bedbugger. Got a ticket through Colorado Springs for FOUR MILES over the speed limit. Which was ironic because it was obviously a ripoff speed trap preying on commercial vehicles for the MUCH more expensive fine, and also because there were probably at the time three semis in the entire United States slower than my 238 crackerbox Jimmy.
  5. A statement, but not a cogent argument. - Most states don't recognize a same sex marriage performed in NY. - Some states don't recognize some states' carry permits. - No state recognizes another state's hunting/fishing license. - Some states don't recognize the tinted auto window standards of other states. - TN doesn't recognize a felony pardon from GA. So what's the justification for only one of these five being treated differently? - OS
  6. How could there be a valid study without statistical sample drug testing in the first place? - OS
  7. Who sez? And who will enforce it if TN disagrees? Patrick, would a federal court even accept it, unless it were a federal pardon? Or even then? - OS
  8. Yeah, when I said Beretta FS, meant the 92FS. I have one but don't carry it. Have NEOS also. - OS
  9. Ah, but language in 39-17-1307 doesn't base its prohibition on whether you are "still" a felon, only if you ever "were" a felon. ("has been convicted"), with no exception mentioned for pardons. On the other hand, TN does follow federal guidelines about felons being able to own blackpowder/antique type guns, at least according to AG opinion posted here some time ago. - OS
  10. I think it impressed him when Newt pinned John King's ears back last night. And CNN in general. If somehow Newt does become The Man, that one minute or so will probably be considered the the pivotal point. - OS
  11. Well, Beretta NEOS is that way; heck the Beretta FS/M9 is too. Ain't a big deal to me, but then again, I don't carry a 1911 to possibly get muscle memory confused either. - OS
  12. Yeah, that's how we got carry in N'tl Parks, tied to credit card reform bill. Even that that one benefited us, it's still a totally frigged up corrupt way to legislate. - OS
  13. Yeah, seen it twice. Mel has done some fine work through the years; I'm able to separate the artist from their personal/political life. Hell, Apocalypto alone is a lifetime achievement if he'd never done anything else. - OS
  14. Yup, I bet I've posted this 5 times in the political forums:
  15. Link is legit, from capitol.tn.gov
  16. That's only 5 years away, ya know. Al Gore told me. - OS
  17. Did she use bondsman for the 2 gees? Bloomberg might urge him to send Dog to come get her. - OS
  18. Btw, in case anybody missed the one note a couple pages back, Senate has put the bill on hold. Not dead but going back committee for "compromises" according to Dirty Harry. Congress Puts SOPA, PIPA on Hold | PCWorld SOPA, PIPA votes to be delayed in House and Senate - 2chambers - The Washington Post - OS
  19. Just found out US military replaced the 1911 with a Beretta 9mm. I mean, like, wow! - OS
  20. Oopsie. Probably saw it and thought 22SR Rifle, never opened it. And yeah, I actually "slipped" years ago. Yo mods, please zap. - OS
  21. \ The "easy to field strip" is always a plus for moi. Ruger® SR22™ Rimfire Pistol - OS
  22. Just kept Holder from having to do it. He probably has everybody's cell phone number over there anyway. Anyway, yeah it's still on hold, but don't see anything about appeal so far; apparently first judge's actual final ruling is still pending or something. - OS
  23. Yeah, I just meant the brand only, bad syntax. Plus as we all know, 9mm shows you're really a good guy citizen not wanting to really hurt anyone like the police have to do. - OS
  24. Yeah, thanks, 'bout same as moi. Froggy, methinks you got an old chain letter. - OS
  25. Some reasons I settled in on 9mm Golden Sabers few years ago was Knoxville police use them (then, at least, dunno now), they have plenty adequate performance, and I got good deals on them for a time and stocked up. AND that they seem particularly resistant to bullet setback from many re-chambers. But like you, rethinking that now. - OS
