  1. I have a couple of handguns that I want to post on tngunowners, however, would it be unreasonable to ask a potential buyer to meet at a local gun dealer for the sale and request a background check? I am a little uneasy selling a firearm to a private party since I have always traded for other guns from a dealer.   Sigbear
  2. I've only owned 4 .45:   Glock 21 most reliable Glock 41 only 300 rounds shot S&W SS 5" barrel 1911 although never jammed, the slide always felt gritty pulling it back after firing 100 + rounds (sold it) Sig P220 I love sigs but I liked this one the least of all my .45's (sold it)   As far as the beauty contest: S&W 1911 Best Sig P220 G41 G21   sigbear
  3. Does anyone know the status of the HB 1407 park carry bill? last I heard it was in the hands of the ways and means committee.   sigbear
  4. Wow, just Wow.  Got Ghertner HOA in my sub division as well.  I will remember their name when their contract is up.
  5. graycrait, just ordered the Dawson fiber optic front sight to start with and will run some nato 124's through it at some point, however, I'm not to concerned with the BIF issue right now, but will fix it at some point. Just ran a quick 50 rounds (federal 115) through it yesterday and oddly enough no BIF. Thanks guy's for the input, sigbear
  6. Bought a brand new Gen 4 G34 last week, cleaned/lubed it and shot 300 rounds not 1 FTF, however I did get some BIF (brass in face). Cleaned the gun and shot another 300 rounds not 1 FTF, still BIF. I shot 600 rounds in 2 outings ( federal 115's and Blazer Aluminum 115) mostly rapid fire with no FTF's of any kind so I'm not going to bitch about the BIF issue, sure, shouldn't happen and I will get it resolved. The G34 was the most fun 9 mm I have ever had or shot. The recoil was so light, I could bring it right back on target during rapid fire. I am a average shot but the G34 made me look better than I am. I really enjoy action style shooting and the G34 works for me, oh ya, one other con is the damn thing eats to much, 600 rounds in just a few days and ready to eat another 600 rounds this week, geeeeesh. 7. Can anyone recommend a book on edible plants & berries in Middle TN? Thanks, Sigbear
  8. I found this video interesting comparing the G19, Gen 3 to the G19, Gen 4, and have read may complaints on the Gen 4 ejector issues. The video demonstration shows the Gen 4 struggling to eject the casing. I believe the new G19, Gen 4's have been perfected, have they? Sigbear
  9. Nothing wrong with my LCR. I used to have a S&W 642 and liked it but the trigger o the LCR works better for me. graycrait, I sent you a PM.

    Walthers

When I fist picked up a P99c and G26 (same day) neither of them flt my hand very good, the P99C felt better of the 2 but not great, so, I fired both and liked the trigger on the P99C and shoot it better (DA/SA), but that's a personal thing. I usually carry it with the pinky extension and a 10 round mag. and occasionally carry with a 15 round mag. and grip extension. I paid $600+ for mine several years ago and it was money well spent. Got: Sig.226, Glock 21SF, Walther P99/P99C, Ruger Security 6, SP101 & LC9 and a few others. If I could only keep one it would be the full size p99 ten the P99C. Sigbear
  11. Does anyone know if there are any outdoor ranges in Springfield TN? I have shot and bought at Guns & Leather in Greenbriar but am looking for a outdoor range. Sigbear

    Walthers

I have both the P99c and P99 full size AS versions, they are keepers for sure. I shot them both side by side with the G19 and G26 and bought the Walthers. Love the G19 and G26 but I liked the DA/SA on the Walther. Found this one on Buds: Walther P99C 9MM AS 3.5 10R BL $566.00 SHIPS FREE You can pick up 15 round mags and grip extension for it, expensive but worth it. Feel free to send me a private message if you want to try either of my P99's, I have the grip extension for my P99c. Sigbear
  13. I second skully "Lights Out". I have read all 3 and Like Lights out best, followed by One Second After and Patriot.Sigbear
  14. Whiskey, great pics. You mother will never forget that special day with her son. My wife & I, and of course the dog are new to Cheatham County TN and we will be making the trip on a hopefully nice 50 degree Sat/Sun soon, anyone interested in hooking up for a day hike? Sigbear
  15. I also moved to NW Tennessee earlier this year from the Liberal Republic of Massachusetts, however, my neighborhood wasn't gang infested like yours but it was getting worse every year. My wife was attacked in our own driveway by a junky yielding a 4' metal carpenters level, lucky she thought quickly and got in the car, locked the doors drove off and called the police. I hear ya, if I had caught him chasing my wife who knows how it would have gone down. My wife has since gotten her CCW. Don't even think about reprisals when it comes to protecting your family just use your head and things will be fine. Tennessee is a wonderful State with like minded folks and a whole lot smarter than where came from to. Sigbear
  16. rstandley, I have never shot IDPA but have watched a couple of matches and it sure looks like a whole lot of fun. I would be very interested in shooting or at least observing in the 12/10 match. sigbear55@gmail.com
  17. Stainless, sounds like a great time and I would love to have gone, however, got folks coming into town Tuesday afternoon for Turkey day. Sigbear
  18. My wife and I are relatively new to middle Tennessee and missed the October 15th. event. I saw many of the pictures on TGO and it sure looks like you guy's had a "Blast". The event looks to have been very well organized. Has there been any talk of another meet, if so, we would love to go and will be happy to contribute some needed things. Sigbear
  19. pfries, what is the .25 trigger job you are referring to on the LC9?
  20. I posted a poll question earlier this week, S&W 617 or Ruger SP101 both .22's, We went to the gun shop and they had a S&W 617 but no SP101 in .22, so, she went with the 617. I have a SP101 .357 w/3" barrel so she has fired that but even 38 loads were to much for her. I have no doubt that after a couple of months of shooting her new .22 she will be ready to be the new owner of my SP101 GRRRRRRRR. She shot 200 rounds yesterday and her 1st. shot hit the target dead center at 15' and I slowly moved the target out until we were at 50' and she did very well. This was her best shooting day ever because she is recoil sensitive with larger calibers and I had no .22 for her to shoot. The 617 trigger pull was lighter than I expected and smooth. The only complaint she had was the black sights, so, I will switch or paint the front sight, any suggestions on this? Great Gun, very expensive, but it made her smile after the 1st. shot hit dead center so that makes it worth every penny. Sigbear
  21. S&W 617, Ruger SP101, or Taurus 94 .22's For Wife My wife has gone shooting with me and friends several times and is recoil/blast sensitive. She wants a .22 revolver to get comfortable with before moving up to a larger caliber. She likes revolvers better and I currently have a .357 Ruger Security Six 6" barrel, .357 SP101 3" barrel and a LCR. I am thinking of getting her the S&W 617 because I believe it o be the better "target" pick of the 3. I would love to have her try them all and pic what she wants but that's very difficult because the gun stores I go to don't have any of them and would have to order. S&W 617 Ruger SP101 .22 Taurus 94 What' your opinion? Sigbear
  22. I'm new to Tennessee and started getting the Tennessean news paper and am disappointed with a lot of the articles being of liberal views. Is it me? Sigbear
  23. Has anyone read the book One Second After? Did you like it? For those who haven't heard of it, it's about a EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) in the U.S. It was one of the best books I've ever read about survival after such a realistic & devastating nuclear event. Sigbear
  24. I am considering buying 5+ acres (inexpensive) to shoot and camp on in Ashland City. I found an interesting lot, it is zoned residential, and outside the city limits. There is nothing but woods in this area, however, I don't want to get stuck with a lot I can't shoot on. Any advice? Sigbear
