  1. I can feel the pain of those saying we can't change things, not enough people vote, both parties suck. I feel the same way a lot of the time. That my friend is not the answer though. Big things don't just happen. Somebody has to really have a DESIRE for it happen and then the DILIGENCE to MAKE it happen. There are plenty of things that have happened in the last 200+ years in America that people said couldn't be done. Today we live in a society that has landed on the moon. A society where we can have a live video conference with people in China on devices the size of a book. These were not easy things to accomplish, but they happened because somebody thought they could be done and wouldn't rest until they were accomplished. I'm not suggesting that changing our government is easy, or even that it will happen, but having a defeatist attitude is certainly not the answer. As long as there are people like us that care enough to fight it there is hope.
  2. More and more of our government scares me every day. lots of people know that social security is a government mandated ponzi scheme, but here is something i recently found out that is just silly. of the massive amounts of debt we auctioned last year, the federal reserve bought about 80% of it. yep, just printing money and trading it between government offices. Yeah that also has the tiny side effect of making all of our money worth less and less.
  3. More money in campaigns always seems like a terrible idea. It makes things even harder for any third party to have a chance.
  4. I have to say I can't believe Tiger would be stupid enough to cheat on his wife. He is the most in control person I've seen and has about 5 bodyguards with him all the time. I just can't see him banging this bimbo. All that being said this crash is very very bizarre. Interested in seeing how this turns out.
  5. wow, that could have been really rough. glad the government cares enough to let people know they messed up. oh wait, they don't. i forgot.
  6. thanks, I missed that thread. I'm ok personally, single and only 1 job, I was just sharing the information for those affected by it. Like Reagan said, the nine scariest words in the English language are, “We’re from the government, and we’re here to help.â€
  7. More Incompetence from the Treasury "Millions of Americans enjoying their small windfall from President Barack Obama’s “Making Work Pay†tax credit are in for an unpleasant surprise next spring. The government is going to want some of that money back. … But new tax withholding tables issued by the IRS could cause millions of taxpayers to get hundreds of dollars more than they are entitled to under the credit, money that will have to be repaid at tax time. At-risk taxpayers include a broad swath of the public: married couples in which both spouses work; workers with more than one job; retirees who have federal income taxes withheld from their pension payments and Social Security recipients with jobs that provide taxable income. The Internal Revenue Service acknowledges problems with the withholding tables but has done little to warn average taxpayers." Why is our government so pathetic?
  8. I did a redesign of Geek Politics over the last few weeks. Head over and check out a few pages and let me know what you think of it.

<--- CZ82 FTW. Don't have much experience with the 63 or 64 except for that crazy trigger pull.
  10. President Obama 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW Washington, DC 20500 He wants to pay for everything else, might as well pay for your entertainment too. Caution, he may use your checkbook to pay it... P.S. Glad you enjoy it
  11. Does somebody have to be home to sign for it? Any other restrictions?
  12. Unintended Consequences Congress Never Saw Coming "Congress always wants to accomplish something. They think that they have to have something on their resume to get re-elected. They need something to point to so they can say, “Hey, I did that for you, vote for me again and I’ll do more nice things.†Well, most of the time these things don’t really get thought through all the way, and much of the time would prefer they just stay out of the way. Give the Defense Department some money to protect us, build a few roads, and stay the heck out of my life..." Quick Summary... Community Reinvestment Act - Housing Crisis Ethanol subsidies / mandates - Huge increase in food prices Alternative Fuel Tax Credits - Billions of dollars of tax credits that they were too stupid to realize were coming
  13. Awesome. That was hilarious. Did you see the episode tonight? CRAZY!
  14. Thanks for all the great responses. I feel very much the same way. I would much rather it be them than myself or my family. I think for me it depends on the situation on how I would feel though. Even though that person made a bad choice, there are some scenarios where I would feel bad. Take for instance 2 situations. BG 1. Va Tech or Binghamton type situation. Active shooter who is trying for a body count. If I am able to take him out and save many lives, I don't think I would lose any sleep at all. BG 2. 18 year old kid who's friends thought it would be a good idea to rob me at my home. Yes he did an incredibly stupid thing by bringing a weapon into my home and threatening my family and I, but he's just a kid and maybe it wasn't even his idea. If he's there and is a threat I don't think I'd have a problem pulling the trigger, but I think I would at least feel bad for him and his family.
  15. How you prepare mentally to take another life if you are faced with that situation? Is there anything you can do to lessen the potential bad side effects afterwards? (not sure how to word that ... something to do before you face the situation that will help your mental state after the encounter) Also, this is given as an argument by a friend as a reason not to carry / have a gun in the house because of the after effects. I say that any effects have to be better than being dead, and the response is usually "yeah i guess, but i don't know if i could handle it" or some such. Any ideas on this situation would be appreciated as well. Maybe the answer to the first question answers this too.
  16. <--- CZ-82 in the avatar Wolf 9X18 Makarov 95 grain looks to be 96-97ish score - the holes are connected and I can't tell if that got a piece of the 10 ring or not.
  17. So for the scoring, if it's on the line, do we take the higher or lower score? based on what i've seen so far it looks like the higher score i think...
  18. lol. no surprise at all here. Just sharing to inform anyone who might be. though I doubt there are many here....so I guess just sharing for a laugh
  19. its seems you are either , or you are drinking the . Why do i have to be a right wing radical to believe in, you know, the CONSTITUTION!
  20. that's funny. so very similar to reality.
  21. I am fairly certain there was a target posted the other day. I think it got wiped out with the server problems. Can't remember who it was though. Any chance we can get this a sticky instead of the one from December?
  22. The U.N. is Pathetic U.N. - North Korea, don’t do that again, or else…. North Korea - Or else what? U.N. - Ummmmm, or else we’ll tell you not to do it again. There, take that. North Korea - *chuckles*
  23. Gun Control Myths short article with 2 great videos. first one is actually from abc, but it's pretty good. the second is Dr. Suzanna Gratia-Hupp's testimony in front of Congress when they were talking about the AWB in the early 90's. If you haven't seen it you definitely should. If you have, watch it again. Reminds me why we need to stay on our reps about the restaurant carry bill. a few quotes: Why don’t gun laws work? “Bad guys tend to ignore gun laws.†Imagine that. “I would much rather be sitting in jail with a felony offense on my head and have my parents alive.†“The second amendment is not about duck hunting.â€
