  1. First one I ever saw with a black bolt. I like it. Gotta find some see thru rings.
  2. Not much.  Yeah, in the receiver.
  3. I'm gonna go with the marlin 336.
  4. Thank Reed. I'm getting the money together for this last deer rifle purchase so can we we keep this on topic? I have my problems with the NRA  too but this isn't the place for that.
  5. The Ruger American is an ugly azz rifle IMO. Not so sure I want that. I'm thinking Hozzie is right on two counts. The savage hog hunter looks good and the shorter barrel would be a plus. Do they all come with threaded  barrels? I don't like or need that. The other point is how much $ did the NRA or by that matter any gun mag get for great reviews?  Seems like gun mags love everything out there. I'll trust fellow gun owners before I'll ever trust a magazine.   Musicman, I've looked up that Marlin and I'll look to see if there is one I can get my hands on locally.  Does anyone have any experience with the Mossberg ATR?
  6. 94user as in Winchester 94 indeed. It's what I had when I joined my first hunting forum. The damn thing Broke on me in less than a year. the link broke and all the shells jammed up trying to all go into the reciever at the same time. Never again.
  7. Nice rifle LP. I want a wood stock .308  I'm thinking.
  8. I need a new one. I sold my Stag 5H 6.8 upper because that sumbitch wouldn't group better than 2 inches at 100 yards and ammo is expensive and limited. The 6.8 round was expected to catch on back then when I bought it but that didn't work out so well. I'm thinking about a .308 Bolt action. $400 or so budget, I have the scope .What say you ?
  9. I just found out that Eagle Imports is offering rebates on Bersa pistols bought between 6/1/14 and 7/31/14.  $15 on any thunder models. :woohoo:
  10. I took the new pistola to Top Brass here in town this afternoon. That was a mistake. It must have been 85* in there. Well it went like this. I racked the slide for the first time with a loaded mag in the gun. It didn't fully chamber. Pushed the slide into battery and sent one downrange. Same thing, round didn't fully chamber. That didn't happen anymore. I sent 73 more round down range without a problem. The sights are designed to hold on the target center, not the 6:00 hold. I used the center, AKA combat sight picture but I was still hitting low. Part of that could have been the constant wiping of sweat off my brow making it hard to concentrate fully on my shooting. I took 75 rounds of WWB ball ammo and another 50 of Federal with me but after I went through the Winchester I said screw it. Too damn hot in there. The dots on the rear sight are smaller than and less bright than the front dot which may have also been part of my problem shooting low. I think some night sights are gonna be in my future. I can replace these with any sight that fits the Sig 220 series. The slide will also close by itself when firmly seating a loaded mag. From what I've read it's made to do that. I wasn't ready for that but fortunately I was using both good muzzle and trigger discipline.
  11. BigK nailed it. Don't use the de-cocker for anything other well, de-cocking the hammer after the first shot. A DA/SA auto is like carrying a revolver except revolvers don't have de-cockers.
  12. Why do you have a problem with the de-cocker ?
  13. I will Sir John, as soon as I get my paws on it.
  14. I fell in love near immediately after getting in my grubby little hands. I've done a bunch of internet research on this pistols including a visit to the Bersa forum. I saw you there !
  15. The Bersa. For not much more than I could have got it from Bud's considering I'd have to pay a transfer fee. The size is perfect, just what i hoped it would be. The  4.75 inch grip isn't so small that my pinky won't wrap around it  and the length at 6.5 inches is prefect IMO. Double action trigger pull isn't bad, way better than my PX4 and holds 13+1. It's what I think a compact should be. 4"  barreled guns are to big to be called compact in my opinion.
  16. The quest has ended. I found one at Guns & Ammo in Southhaven, Ms. I bought it and they're gonna take it to thier Memphis store in the morning. :)
  17. Still can"t find the Bersa in stock anywhere. I won't buy sight unseen. I did kinda like a Sig I fondled at Academy yesterday. The SP2022. It's bigger than I  want but it's way light unloaded. I hate that Academy has trigger locks on thier pistols. Makes it hard to get a proper feel for the thing.
  18. Everyone should own a 1911. Congratulations. Nothing wrong with a Colt either.

    Stippling

Looks real good. Most of the stippling I've seen managed to make a Glock uglier that it was to start with. :hiding:  I might try it one one of my Pmags like in the video.
  20. I fondled a CZ Rami at Guns and Ammo this afternoon. Nice pistol, a little bit fat but as with all the sub compacts I'm interested in the grip is too short. The 14 round mag makes it right but it's a little too long for my liking and it's ugly as hell. My ideal carry is eluding me,
  21. Tennessee has so much firearm freedoms yet so many firearm restrictions it makes my head hurt.
