I have about 12 Pmags, 15 USGI mags, & 10 Promags for the ARs; and about 3 mags each for all my pistols. I only have 1 mag for the AR30 but since it doesn't even have a scope yet, I have more pressing problems to solve there. lol

Optics for shooting l-o-n-g

That's funny. After about 5 or 6 hours of research I also found the Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56 with the Velocity 1000 reticle and Zero stop feature (Model C375). It's a bit pricey at $2k but worth the investment imo. As far as ammo, I think I can keep the cost down to $2.50ish/round by hand loading. I bought 100 new Lapua primed cases (actually found them on sale for about $1 each) and some Sierra Matchking 250 grain BTHPs. Haven't bought the powder yet. Need to talk to a reloader friend for advice. -

Thanks for the info folks. I'm actually moving to Boulder CO in a couple of weeks and there is a range south of Denver with WAY long range shooting. -
In 2 weeks I am driving from Murfreesboro to Boulder CO. This journey takes me through a piece of Illinois, which does not recognize TN's HCP. I will have my carry pistol, 3 other pistols, and 2 rifles with me on this journey, along with about 4000 rounds of various ammo. Knowing Illinois attitude toward gun owners, this makes me more nervous than a long legged cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Hoping some of you fine folks could recommend a course of action other than "go the long way and skip IL".

Earlier this week I got a great deal on an Armalite AR30 chambered in .338 Lapua. Now I'm researching optics for her. Since I'm new to shooting past about 500yds, I have no idea on the selection criteria for a scope to reach out to 1500+ yds. There have been several confirmed "kill shots" (man-sized targets) with this rifle and cartridge out past a mile so I feel confident that my rifle can do it... just have to teach myself to do it. So, please enlighten this young padawan on how to properly select a scope before I go out and drop $2k on the wrong glass. -Joe

Hey folks. I just wanted to reintroduce myself since I have been MIA for a while and also changed my screen name. My former screen name was Slipstream. I've been a member for a good long while but haven't been active on the site much recently. I was also a long time member of Tennesspeed. I'm in the middle of creating a website called TheRoguePrepper.com. It will have tons of information regarding disaster preparation, bugging out, etc. as well as a e-store to buy preps. Once the site is live, I'll contact David about becoming a vendor and will give discounts to TGO members, and DEEP discounts to military. There is just a placeholder page there now, but I anticipate a March 2013 soft-launch. As far as myself, my name is Joe. I'm a veteran: 5 years in the US Navy, a very strong 2nd amendment advocate, a conservative libertarian and a Christian (albeit not a very good one). That's about all I have time for right now. Just wanted to say Hi.

Just picked up an XDs.45 yesterday. Fired around 50 rounds today to get the feel of it. The grip needs a little work but overall I love it. Need to get an IWB holster too. This is actually my first Springer. My brother has an XD9 and I love it. All my other pistols are S&W M&P's.

I have a Smith and Wesson Pro 1911 that came with Novak Fiber optic sights. On my last trip to the range, the front sight just broke off between shots. The pistol is about 6 months old with about 200 rounds through it, and it has not been bumped, banged, or otherwise mistreated. So why am I starting a thread about it? I just want to ask a few questions. 1) Is this indicative of Novak's quality? 2) How do the forum members feel about Novak's sights? 3) Should I get a replacement front sight or replace the whole setup? 4) Are fiber optic sights touted to be better than tritium sights? This is in no way meant to slam the Novak brand. I just don't know much about their products. All my previous pistols were "tactical" style, and I stuck with OE or Trijicon sights Please discuss

Post removed by Admin. Admin comments follow: First and foremost, I have always let it be known that being a Vendor on TGO does not immunize a business from negative feedback posted by our members. I am very selective about whom I allow advertise on TGO and expect that our Vendors be a cut above the rest. That said, it has been born out by follow-up posts in this thread that circumstances were not quite what the thread's original poster indicated. In light of the information that we have at present, it is my opinion that this thread simply should not have been created in the first place. Folks, please remember that there are usually three sides to every story. The side of the person telling it, the side of the person the story is about, and the truth that lies somewhere in between. There is absolutely no reason for threads like this to suddenly sprout legs and become an orgy of "Me Too-ism". Thanks.

Noisy Cricket... hands down.

Box says " 40 S&W 180 gr. TCJ " doesnt say anything about long. plus, several other guns have fired this batch of ammo without problems

Oh, I will be getting another Glock. The M&P is a no brainer because my company is owned by S&W and I get a huge discount. I didnt make it to the range today, so no update there. Maybe tomorrow or Tuesday
-
I dont know. I'm just mad at myself for making a hasty decision. It's not really worth it to get another Glock now. I just wish I hadn't sold my other one to buy this. I plan on shooting around 400 rounds tomorrow (sunday). We'll see what the verdict is after that. I have already placed my order for a M&P40, which will eat the Atl Arms ammo just fine, so I'm not really "stuck" with this ammo. I think I'm, too deep in this Sig to get rid of it. Im not anxious about taking that hit so if it shoots well tomorrow, I might just keep it. But until I feel comfortable that it's not going to jam in a tight situation, I think I'll carry the M&P.
