I agree. The PF9 is a great option though, I have one and love mine. I carry that or my G26 daily. I just couldn't get into the P11's plus I was worried about them being drop safe.
  2. I agree. Maybe colored letters would be better than the negative.
  3. I love my SU-16C. I put a Primary Arms aimpoint clone on it and it is a great shooter. You can shoot steel cased ammo in it if you want, the steel cases are softer than the brass cases are. The problem is not the steel cases breaking things, it is the build up of the lacquer finish on the steel to keep it from rusting that flakes off and melts when the guns get hot and gums everything up. If you shoot a moderate amount, and clean afterward you will be fine. Keep in mind, the steel cases are not heat treated or anything, it is soft metal.

good gun. not as easy to shoot as a semi auto sub compact, such as the xd9sc or the g26 but it is very accurate if you put in the effort and get trigger time with the gun.

  6. Plus the port does nothing for recoil, lol.
  7. Look for a 590, the (non A1 model is fine, less $$). It is what I have, 8+1, loves slugs and has been rock solid for at least 1k shots. Came with the speed feed stock, so it will hold 4 more in the stock, not as fast as a side saddle but I like options. Plus, they are there if you need them. Can't go wrong with an 870 or Nova either, I'm just partial to to the 590 About loads: I run the Remington Value Pack 00 buck loads from Wally World, because I know how they pattern and I have shot lots of them through the gun. I keep slugs in the speed feed just in case, and if I'm really feeling squirrely I may load 5 or 6 00 and the last 2 or 3 slugs, but I generally like knowing for sure what is coming out the end of the gun, so I'm not a huge fan of mix loading the tube. I don't want to shoot a slug when expecting 00 or vice versa.
  8. I may have missed it, but did you do a full cleaning of the pistol? Including the striker channel, extractor etc?
  9. but it was lost in a boating accident wasn't it?
  10. or "Shoot em Up" where you had to have the right fingerprint.
  11. 19 was my vote. Then get a 26 for even easier carriage

    SIG 522

I want one as well, good gun.
  13. About the same, but different feel. Perhaps the PF9 is a little stouter overall.
  14. the Speer stuff for short barrels is nice too, it works well in my 642.

I bet you just watched the Nutnfancy YouTube vid on the 522 huh? lol
  16. I have never thought about carrying mine ankle, always seemed too heavy for that but I don't know... worse case if you got a 2nd one they could be ankle weights and you could burn some extra calories while packing heat, and protecting yourself. We could come up with a new type of exercise plan, lol.
  17. My PF9 has worked with everything I have fed it. Reloads, WWB, blazer brass etc. It also worked well with 115 and 124gr +P which the manual says you should not make a habit of shooting through it. But it is ok to shoot +P occasionally.
  18. That being the case, you have a nice range gun as well. The XD9sc would be a great option for her (albeit larger, heavier and more expensive) the manual of arms and mag compatibility etc. would be an advantage of the XD9sc and XD9. Otherwise, I'd go PF-9. My dad loves his PF-9, I'm working with him to get him accurate with it but it is just a matter of getting used to the long trigger take up.

    XDsc 9

Yeah unlikely but ideally it should at least be a physical possibility to rack it to clear it. Ultimately it is up to her if she feels comfortable not being able to clear a jam or malfunction in a life or death situation. Of course a revolver like a 642 wouldn't be as easy for her to shoot, so who knows, it probably all comes out in the wash.
  20. Ok, here it goes: PF-9 is easy to shoot, reliable after break-in, and recoil is sharp and snappy (not for everyone). Sights are plastic, but they aren't going to come off with 1 bump unless your definition of bump is "tossed out a moving car at 50 mph". P11 is wider, so the recoil is less sharp because there is more surface area to transfer the force to your hand. It is also heavier so that helps. The PF-9 is drop safe, where as the P11 is not. I have not shot the P11 but from my experience with the PF-9, the P11 should be more pleasant to shoot. Bottom line: I recommend the PF-9... that is IF she can manage the recoil, at least enough to practice occasionally with it to get proficient. It is not like you have to put hundreds upon hundreds of rounds through it every day, it is carry gun -- not a range gun. If you want a combo carry and range gun I'd look at the XD9sc or Glock 26, both will be much more comfortable to shoot as well as more fun to shoot and could easily double as range guns as well.

great choice -- especially if she is hitting what she aims at. I'm with OhShoot on this one, I wouldn't want a trigger any lighter than stock for a carry weapon. How is she carrying it? Purse and in a holster?
  22. It is all in the pants man, I'm 6'2" 240 and I try to find pants with large pockets. Levi Painter's jeans work well, not overly baggy but have nice pockets... a lot of time I'll go up 1 waist size since I will be wearing a belt anyway, this give you more room. 5.11 taclite pro pants are awesome. I even pocket carry my g26 in the back pocket of the 5.11's if I'm going to be standing up all day, it looks like I have one of the large bill folds back there. The only problem with that is getting used to having to draw from back there and making sure you twist as you draw to leave the holster back there and not pull it out with the gun. The pants aren't that baggy, you don't look like a thug or anything you just need big pockets and loose fitting pants.
  23. cool, that is good to hear. I'll end up with one eventually no doubt. Maybe after my next paycheck
  24. Let me know how you like that aholster for your G26, I have been looking at one for my G26. I'm content with my Nemesis right now though, it works pretty well. Wish it printed less though, I think the fact that it is padded and adds some thickness doesn't help, plus it doesn't do the best job of concealing the gun's shape. I haven't been called out yet, and I pretty much exclusively pocket carry it. I have been pocket carrying it in some 5.11 taclite pro pants recently, and it works great in the roomy front pockets.
  25. ?? that makes no sense... I think the recoil spring weights are identical in the 19 and 17, slide mass is only marginally heavier in the 17 and on top of that, if it were true then the 26 would be SOL if you tried to run +P+ through it. Not to mention the 22, 23 and 27 run the same recoil springs as their 9mmm counterparts, correct? and all weigh the same... Seems to me all of the .40 Glocks would be all stove up and broken by now. Same frames, same everything structural. I'm not saying you are wrong, I'm just saying I think that rep was just trying to sell 17s or something? Oh well.
