Edited to add... I'm editing the title of the thread. Just for the sake of fairness. -
EXTREMELY disappointing encounter with someone with a badge
TGO David replied to a topic in General Chat
The OP made an assumption. It was a logical assumption based on where the event happened. I don't see this necessarily being a cop-bashing thread, but see how it could easily turn into one if people don't keep emotion out of it. -
EXTREMELY disappointing encounter with someone with a badge
TGO David replied to a topic in General Chat
Ok, here's the deal.... Remove the badge from the equation. Had this dude pulled to the spot you were standing in and demanded that you moved, and rather than showing you a badge of some sort, showed you his fist and said "GTFO" what would you have done? Personally, I'd have moved. Not because I'm a wimp but because clearer heads prevail. There's no sense getting into a fight over a parking spot. Further more, I'd have been carrying -- and no matter what sort of fight you get into, if you're carrying, a fight automatically becomes a gun fight by proxy. Most people in this world would have cussed you pretty good under their breath but never confronted you as you stood in that spot. You happened to catch the small percentage who will, and he did, and he happened to have a badge of some sort. The badge isn't the problem. The fact that he was confrontational with you is the problem, right? Big deal. I'm not excusing his actions, and definitely think the guy was a douchenozzle of the highest order -- magnified by the fact that he gave the impression of being a cop -- but the fact remains that you got to go home, physically intact, and had a nice dinner with your date. You won. Not him. -
I'd get an M&P 9c now and have a better interchangeable backstrap design, better ergos and better warranty.

Unless you have proof of that, I'd be wary of posting it. Just my $0.02 worth.

I was using computers when they were made out of wood.

ENOUGH!!! Apparently we have some people here who don't understand that this is NOT A DEMOCRACY and who have not read our Code of Conduct or forgot about it or thought I was kidding when I wrote it. Like your parents all probably told you while growing up, two wrongs do not make a right. If you think a moderator is wrong, don't put yourself in the wrong by violating our CoC. If you have questions, by all means contact them or me privately. But do not think for one second that I am going to tolerate anarchy on this forum. DO NOT ARGUE WITH THE MODERATORS PUBLICLY!!!

When you become a Benefactor, you are supporting the site and in return receiving certain perks (like the Trading Post) that others do not. You aren't buying into the management of the site. Sorry.

I gave it enough time to play out and see where he was headed. TGO doesn't need people like that.

My 9C is quickly becoming one of my favorite handguns.

Who here has had a carry permit the longest?
TGO David replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
My KY permit was issued in '95. My TN permit was issued in '97. -
In my experience, $9 relays are worth what you pay for them.

Swap the horn relay for the magnetic clutch relay (they are the same on those cars) and see if the problem goes away. The magnetic clutch relay is under the hood. If so, bad relay. If not, it may be the compressor itself.

You need to take your own advice there, chief.

Rentaldude, you need to keep in mind that while you're free to live life the way you choose, so too are others. You have zero right to tell them how to live, what choices to make, when to be armed, etc. Until you start paying their wages, you need to keep it in check.

Tennesspeed.net also. Mine.

Yeah. It's up to 4.0.3 now as well. It's very different. The guy who writes the vbDynamics software that we use for our Posted Locations / Gun Shops / Ranges database finally got off of his ass and started re-writing it for vB4. I'm still not sold on the idea of sticking with vBulletin, but this makes it a little more lucrative to stay.

I don't think you were being petty at all. There is an innate desire within each of us as freedom-loving Americans to speak up and express our side of the argument to those who would make patently absurd statements like your co-worker did. However, we sometimes must temper our reactions with an awareness of the dynamics of the situation. Had this exchange occurred off company property and off company time (for both parties) then I personally would have felt more liberty to say exactly what was on my mind. Some people, even in this thread, apparently feel that keeping mum at work is akin to selling out your beliefs. People like that concern me, not only in relation to topics like this but in a lot of other facets of life as well. They look before they leap; they speak without fully thinking through the possible ramifications. Everyone "sells out" a little bit all throughout the day. If you observe the speed limit, you're not living out your desire to drive however fast you want. If you're speeding and you slam on the brakes when you see a cop, you're not carrying through on the idea that you'll do whatever you please, damn the consequences. We all know that with every action, there is a reaction. Sometimes those reactions may mean that you lose your source of income and the ability to provide food and shelter for yourself or your family. In the grand scheme of things, using some intelligence about when to make a big deal out of your personal beliefs on the job is as much a part of your overall tactics for keeping your family taken care of as is the decision to go armed for your protection.
