The 239 is almost as big as 228/229. Not much thinner. But it's a fine weapon, and handles 40 and 357 well.

This would be swell built with a left handed action.

The p224 is a wide one as well. All double stacks are with exception of the Taurus 111g2. It's a decent pistol in its own, but not quite on the same level. Now the p239 is an interesting little weapon, but it's not much thinner than the 224 or g27, and carries a bigger footprint. You don't gain much but sacrifice a bit of capacity.

I run a sling mount clamped onto mag tube, with a luxpro 500 in it. Got on sale at lowes for 17, very bright and hasn't been affected by recoil.

And I'm a self aware beretta fanboy, so that was a hard decision.

Yes. It's entirely too rattly and plastic for me. It's a fantastic size, but doesn't carry well for me. Was also a poor shooter. I thought I had a dud, but I borrowed a different one to try and was equally disappointed. I searched forever for a da/sa 40 that would fit in my back pocket. The cz rami was a strong contender, but lack of a local dealer was a bummer. I am picky about having a local guy that's able to fix what I can't. Finally decided to get a p224, but took 19 months to find the one I wanted.

I replaced the steel guide rod in my 96 brig with the plastic many years ago. The steel rod was showing wear, so I called beretta up for a rod and spring. They sent me the new style plastic, and I was slightly concerned. Beretta rep said it was updated version, if I didn't like it he would ship me a new steel rod. I've never went back. The plastic is smoother, faster cycling, doesn't seem to have any wear on it or the metal parts of the gun. It's got almost 20k rounds on it, looks like it's good for at least that many more. I can't tell any difference in muzzle flip or weight, but on an all metal pistol, the 1/2 oz diff is rather minute.

92 and p224 It' a shame that beretta can't make a compact or subcompact to the same quality as their fullsize weapons. I personally believe the 92 is superior to the p226, but it has no equal stepdown. Every sig in the classic line is built as well as any other, so my nod to p224 or p229. At this point, you may as well run a p226 for full size for mag compatibility. I wouldn't turn down a 226 legion Sao if it was free.

The m11-a1 is a fine weapon, but it's not the end all, be all. Sig, hk, and beretta all have a following of fanatical devotees. I am a fan of beretta, although my most recent acquisition was a sig p224. In hunting for a subcompact da/sa 40, I learned that there are few options. The px4 was intriguing, but after handling several, I couldn't make myself buy it. They are loose and rattle a bit, with a plasticky trigger feel. The cost savings over the p224 were not enough to swing me. The p224 is a sig. Built just as well as any fullsize they offer. Highly accurate for a pocket sized piece. Locks up tight as your m11, and doesn't sound like rocks in a can. I do prefer the da trigger on full size beretta to sigs, but the sa trigger goes to sig (definitely not including the 226 SAO in this for keeping it equal). I actually prefer the beretta slide stop location more, and am about 50/50 on decocker. The sig decocker has a long throw, and I love seeing the firing pin rotate when the beretta is decocked. That extra safety is nice. I find that the beretta will function better when dirty, but loses in overall accuracy. Not by much, but the difference is noticeable on paper from a rest. Both are incredibly accurate, more so than 99% can achieve offhand. Beretta also has superior customer service. Only question for you, res308: wilson 92 or p226 legion?

I use g96, Lucas oil, and Lucas red grease. Seems to work well for me. I'll spray down with brake cleaner once a year, or after 1000 rounds and start fresh with a layer of g96.

It's tritium and fiber optic, in a normal sized sight. It's pretty neat.

I just bought a p224, and could not ask for a sweeter shooting compact 40. They're hard to find now, but a 229 isn't much bigger.

I have fallen in love with the xray sights. It's an almost unhealthy obsession, like lusting after a supermodel. I cannot seem to googlefu if the dovetails are the same. Will they fit?

I've got a 111 g2 just for playing and plinking. It's surprisingly accurate for such a small cheap pistol. Those aggressive grips are nice, I would imagine they would keep that small pistol planted even in a 40.

It's crazy. I'm more excited about the BBQ be than any of the rest. His solution is to lease his guest room to me, with full access to all property and equipment, including personal vehicles. I'm fairly certain this may work, waiting to hear back from his deputy friend and a local atty that he fishes with.

I'm definitely not from new York. Blame att for that. I don't even have an interest in traveling north of I 40. The events are mostly taking place on adjoining farms. His back hay field is flat and dry, so they approached him about using it for some vendors. The promoters are going to be responsible for all clean up, and give us all free passes and some goodies, but we're not extremely enthused about participating. Drunks and meth heads sound worse than it really is, probably won't be a handful of idiots. I talked with the land owner and his deputy friend again last night, and the deputy agrees that being armed is not legal, but "concealed means concealed". He also mentioned that if I kept myself to the home and it's curtilage it would be a different situation. After studying the legal definition of curtilage, I'm left almost as confused. At least I found a site here with a wealth of knowledge during my search, so it's not a total bust.

It's a nightmare. He didn't find out about all this until last week. And I'm not one to "draw down" on folks. Most drunks and junkies I can handle with a stern word or a good slap. I will be paired for the most part with a county deputy that he is close with. He will be staying at the farm house all weekend. His department has scheduled him to work only 1 shift there, so the remainder of the time he will be there with me and my friends brother. The last time that an event like this went off, it wasn't as bad as expected. There were only a few fights, but lots of theft and vandalism, mostly done by out of towners. I am very comfortable going all weekend with no weapon other than my mind, and have expressed as much. But my buddy is pro 2a, almost to the point of being militant about it. I came here not to incite trouble. Just to inquire about a part of state law that I wasn't familiar with.

Than you for clearing that up about my work. A local police told me as much today, it's not recommended, but technically not unlawful. He also suggested that I "move in" at my friends house after 1700 Friday of the event. I can't be troubled about failure to report address change this way. There will be about 5 Leos that he is friends with there, and about 40 others that he doesn't know. His 20 acre farm is centrally located in an area of about 2000 acres that will be used by the public for a weekend gathering. His property is actually going to contain vendor areas and the security tent. His concern is safety of his family, as well as protection of his property and livestock. He does not ask me to provide security for the event, just to help watch over his home and barns from drunks and meth heads, and to help direct people walking in from the road to certain areas on his farm. At no point during the weekend should I be more than 200 yds from his house, nor will I be participating in events or consuming alcohol.

I ask for 2 reasons. First, I'm scheduled to attend an event on a farm that will be attended by several LEO and many permitted civilians. The landowner is a dear friend of mine, and has asked that everyone come armed. He is under the assumption that his permission is enough, but I'm not so sure. There will be no sport shooting, he just prefers that I am armed. The second part, I work for a very small company, just 4 of us, and I am the only one without a carry permit. My employer desires for everyone to be armed while on payroll, I definitely have his consent as well, but I'm concerned with the legality of my situation.

I have a question for those more enlightened than myself. Is a person, who is legally allowed to own a firearm but does not have a carry permit, allowed to carry on a 3rd parties property with owner consent? Open or concealed, or does it matter?
