  1. They call it that because the original was made by the "Original Jackass Leather Company" which Galco bought out. The first ones were actually made of Jackass hyde. The Miami Classic model is a modification of the original first made for the character Sonny Crocket from the old Miami Vice TV show. Thus the name. TK47
  2. + howevermany on the Jackass rig. I had a friend who always carried his 1911 that way. He loaned me the rig to try out one day at the range, since I was always giving him a hard time about "A Jackass carrying a Jackass". I found it surprisingly comfortable, and easyto draw from. Re-holstering was a bit of a pain, but would probably get much easier with practice. Never bought one for myself, but now that I'm thinking about it again... TK47
  3. As posted elsewhere, I took my new Glock 21sf to the range this weekend. I could not be happier with it. The 1911 is THE classic .45 handgun. Somehow, I just never became a fan of the way it feels in my hand though. (I realize that makes me a heathern savage, but I can't help it) I also just love the idea of carrying 1 spare magazine and having 27 rnds of .45 ACP available to me. Personally, I'd go Glock. TK47

    My new addition

Congrats! I'm sure you're going to be very pleased with the new acquisition. I just got a Glock 21sf a little while back myself. My Glock 19 is getting old, and I got a heck of a deal from a friend. I got to take it to the range for it's first good long workout last weekend. Man what a sweetheart! It's more of a handfull than I'm used to, but what awesome firepower. 13rds of .45 ACP is a real problem solver. TK47
  5. I don't have kids to worry about, so on the nightstand is a Glock 21sf, with a light. Standing in the corner 5 feet away is the Remington 870 also with a light. TK47
  6. I spent a couple of hours there today. I was really unhappy about the prices I saw. Even the C&R stuff was twice what it should bring or more. Example: A nothing special Mosin-Nagant looking like it just came from J&G Sales, for $189.00. .303 Enfields in poor shape running around $250. Mausers? Fugettaboudit. Oh well, I only spent $9 for an afternoon of looking at guns. Coulda spent a lot more money and had a lot less fun.
  7. I'm headed that way now. I'm kind of looking for a CETME or G3 clone, but probably won't be able to afford the current price. I just like going to watch the reporters in the crowd checking under the tables, for all the illegal deals going on there, and trying to spot the "LOOPHOLE". TK47
  8. I have a friend with one of these. It is a beautiful rifle, that functions flawlessly. Very accurate as well. I didn' t notice that the kick was any worse than the other Mil-Surp bolt guns I've shot. I'd love to find a good deal on one myself. The Ammo is getting pricey, but what Ammo isn't? TK47
  9. I would agree with mustangdave. It never hurts to have a cordial relationship with local law enforcement. You might give them a call and find out who handles that kind of paperwork for them, and make an appointment to ask him some questions about the process. You might clear up their misunderstanding, and make a new friend/ally in the process. TK47
  10. Wow, what a great way to put it. "Some animals to take care of and some to eat." I think you did Fantastic! TK47
  11. I am a recent addition to this board as well. I think you will find it a good place to educate yourself on firearms, and get soem good advice. Make sure youcheck out some of the older threads. Tons of good info there. TK47
  12. I can sympathize. I see this kind of thing frequently. Part of my job is to do Tech Support type training for a large computer company. I teach job skills that the students are required to use daily. I still get people who sleep through classes, stare off into space, or are just plain sullen about having to be there. It amazes me how just plaion rude people have become.
  13. I have no kids to worry about, and a wife who knows about gun safety and has at least familiarized with our home defense shotgun. I keep my 870 about 1.5 feet from my bedside, with a full tube (7) and one in the chamber, safety on. TK47
  14. Best of luck in your search. You have a very distinguished ancestor there. He is considered by some to be THE first white settler in what would become Tennessee. If you manage to find one, please post back here. I would love to see it.
  15. Hi guys. Finally got my registration worked out. I'm from the Greater Metropolitan Eagleville Area. I have a C&R license, a CWP, several modern handguns and rifles, and am also into Black powder, especially Flintlocks. Looking forward to be a member of the copmmunity here. TK47
