  1. Thanks buddy it was a pretty good one. June is a rough month for quality fish due to the spawn but the eater size is out in full force. Took my 14 year old cousin out the trip before catching that hog and boated 25 blues 15lb and under. The bite will get better as we get into July and the fish is done spawning.
  2. Was out on Watts Bar last night caught 15 bluecats and this was the biggest of the night.
  3. I fished Watts Bar last night and caught 12 Bluecats in a few hours. Caught some drifting channel ledges and dragging in back creeks. Nothing big, biggest was 12lb. But during the spawn that's how it goes. Bluegill, Shad and Skipjack was the bait.
  4. I called my local dealers looking for a Bad Boy and they was all on order. I came home with a Cub Cadet ZT1 54in, worked out a deal and got it for $3300 out the door. If it's anything like the M48 Tank I'll be pleased.
  5. My old Cub Cadet M48 Tank is getting tired and looking to upgrade in the next few days. I've got a 4k budget and would like some opinions on mowers from you guys. I mow about 2 acres with mostly flat ground and a few trees around. Any recommendations is welcome.
  6. Yea I'm proud of him, he was a big old deer for East TN on public land.
  7. My local taxidermist called today and said my deer was ready, been waiting to get him up on the wall. Anybody looking to have a quality mount done Byrds Taxidermy in Huntsville, TN is a good one.
  8. No I took and drilled holes through the bones and blew the marrow out with compressed air. Then let it dry in a borax/salt mixture.
  9. Got that one dried out and mounted up. Never did a mount like this before and must say I think it turned out pretty good. I've always just mounted the fan, beard and spurs but this will be my go to mount from now on.
  10. With the factory buttpad I started flinching after the 8th shot of 3in Turkey loads. That was with the factory XFull choke. Bruised my arm up for a couple days. Waited till I got the recoil pad in to try out the Jellyhead and Gobble Stopper Red Dot. It made a world of difference and it's not bad at all now. I'm shooting the 3in Longbeard XR #5. It patterned the best outta all that I tried but the Federal 3in #6's was pretty impressive also and not far off from the Longbeards.
  11. Yea it's the Steven's and in 12 gauge. I put a recoil pad on it to tame the kick and give me a longer lop. For the money I love it. Sure beats toating around my 870 or 835 on those long walks. Can't tell the Steven's is on your back. I'm hoping to try a new spot of public land out in Roane County Sunday. I know they are ate up with Turkeys down that way from fishing it so much. Seen alotta birds on private land but figure they have to be some on the public surely.
  12. Missed one opening day, rushed the shot and shot over him. Got one this morning. Always good breaking the new gun in on a decent bird. He had a 10in beard and 1in spurs.
  13. Bought a Jellyhead Maximum in .660 Constriction for the Stevens. Figured for $30 it wouldn't hurt nothing. Really tightened the pattern up on the gun. This was with the Super X 3in #5 shot. I'll attach pictures of both chokes shooting the same ammo. Also both targets was at 30 yards. The pattern was shot was using the bead, that Red Dot wouldn't hold on the gun. I did order a Truglo Gobble Stopper Red Dot for it so hopefully it'll work out.
  14. I've been looking for a couple boxes for weeks. I've got some Super X, Nitro Turkeys and some Federals. They'll kill but wanted some Longbeards to try in a new gun.
  15. I get told that a lot lol but if you seen my camera roll you'd understand. Some good fish but I've caught bigger, been shooting for that 100lb mark and if I get lucky enough to ever put my hands on one I'll make sure to show off these pearly whites lol.
  16. I've been catching Crappie from 5ft to 25ft. All I do is troll for them at speeds of 1mph to 1.5mph. I use Berkley Flicker Shad Crankbaits or Jigs, either will produce fish. All I fish is Watts Bar and will say it's one heck of a fishery.
  17. Been doing pretty good on the Crappie, Skipjack and Catfish. Landed this big blue cat earlier today after catching some bait, measurements went 45in Length with a 30in Girth.
  18. Yea they're a pretty impressive animal, can hurt your feelings real quick when hunting them. Can hear and see like no other. But that challenge is why they're my favorite animal to hunt.
  19. Was at a local gun shop picking up my Escort BTS 12 the other day and seen this little Steven's for $195 and couldn't pass it up. Been looking for a lighter Turkey gun for those long walks chasing these Mountain birds and that Stevens fit the bill. Got lucky on a bunch of Winchester Super X Turkey loads in 2 3/4 and 3in for $5 a box so that's what I used for sight in. Really wanted some longbeard xr's but can't find any nowhere. But anyway I tried the #4 and #5 shot in both the 2 3/4 and 3in. And with the factory X-Full choke it liked the 2 3/4 better over the 3in. Pattern shown is at 30 yards with the #5 shot in 2 3/4. Put 50 or so shots in the vitals. Wish I could've found a few different types of ammo to try but can't be picky nowadays. All in all I'm happy with that little Steven's, for the money it's hard to beat. Put a full or modified choke in and have a good squirrel gun also.
  20. If you don't mind the drive you could check with Mark Love at Brimstone Recreation in Scott County, TN. He has the rights to all the land and has hunting leases. He allowes one hunter for every 100 acres and its yearly leases. If you're interested send me a message and I can give you his personal number. The biggest lease he has is right at 1200 or so acres. But he has different plots to choose from. I will say that a few years back Scott and Campbell Counties got hit hard with the blue tongue but the population is getting built back up now. I hunt public land in Scott County and do well each year. Got plenty of Hogs and some of the best Turkey Hunting around.
  21. I'm using the 250gr Hornady Black, will clover leaf 3 shots at 100 yards. That 7 point dropped in his tracks with a nice entry and exit. I used to have the CVA Scout V2 in 450 with the 23in Barrel and always had good results with that gun. But seen this Remington with the 18in Heavy Barrel and had to have it. It's replaced alotta my other guns, its my go to for woods hunting or when I'm walking.
  22. Thanks everyone. I'm pleased with him, think this one is going on the wall with the other few. Was going to do a euro mount but decided against it. He'll look good beside the big 8 that was killed in the same area 4 years ago.
  23. I added another pic but its tilted for some reason.
  24. Got blessed with one of the biggest deer I've ever killed this morning on public land in Scott County. Even got to break the Remington 450 Bushmaster in. Tagged out on bucks for this season, its been a great season on public land. And the freezer is full of meat.
  25. I just got off the phone with the regional office in Crossville and you can for sure kill one antlerless from Nov 21st to Jan 3rd. With the type 094 or Landowner.
