Guys, (and gals?) , Bring lunch with you! If we do not have leave and come back for lunch then we can spend more time shooting and less time driving.  Also, it will be August in Knoxville so it will be sunny and hot. I know the host will have an "easy up canopy" , but if anyone else can bring one also that will help with shade. A camp chair is a good idea too .  And of course make sure you bring water / gatorade. Avoid hydration frustration. See you there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to say I had a great time Friday shooting this match with the SOs. And it was good meeting and shooting with you MechanicX.   I had to be at my day job today so I had to shoot the match on Friday. While the rain and mud was a little less than optimal, the stages were good and quick and I'm sure the shooters Saturday will have a good time. I do think the SOs should use a water hose today to "mud up" stage 5 so the shooters can "enjoy" the bog like we did yesterday....just to be "fair".. :devil:

Just a reminder, this one is coming up in about 3 weeks....   Everyone here probably carries a knife on them as part of their EDC gear. We carry them as tools primarily but they might also be pressed into duty in defense of self and loved ones. And in instances where you cannot carry a gun , the knife might be the ONLY self defense tool you will have on you. But have you ever actually gotten any instruction in the combative use of the knife? If you might find yourself armed with only a knife then this class is definitely for you! We look at carry methods, accessing and opening methods, methods of attack, and a whole lot more.  Hope to see you there!!!!!!

Heading that way this evening....can anyone tell me what the traffic around Manchester (Bonnaroo) is like?   I'm in Chattanooga....Should I go I24 or go to Cookeville and take I40?

On Aug 3 Suarez International Tier 1 Staff Instructor Randy Harris will be in Knoxville Tn leading a regional training group and working on close quarters shooting and Alternative Indexing Methods- making fight stopping hits without a picture perfect sight picture. At less than 4 yards a picture perfect sight picture is not needed to make hits and in a truly dynamic reactive situation (when the bad guys start the fight) you will likely not be able to find the sights in time to react appropriately. In this close up reactive situation Alternative Indexing Methods can save the day! Mailed off form 4 for suppressor in late July last year, was approved mid May of this year.

OK guys and gals...we are about 2 weeks out on this class.   As I mentioned above, it will change the way you view pistol training. Standing still and using the sights works well when you are behind cover and have the initiative....but when the range is close (less than 7 yards) the bad guy gets to start the fight (as they normally do) then standing still and looking for the sights is a good way to get shot, stabbed or beaten. This class is not about SHOOTING a pistol it is about FIGHTING with a pistol and getting the pistol into the fight. Hope to see you there!

You are supposed to have had a Suarez class previously......but we can work around that as long as you are solid with fundamental safe gun handling. The Regional Training Group Days are for "alumni" to come work on skills they learned in class....but if more people can see what we do then more people will sign up for classes so I'm open to folks coming who might not have had a class with us before.   Come on out. Looking forward to seeing you there! 

SUAREZ INT TN GA AL Regional Training group  Date: Saturday May 31  Time: 10AM to 4PM CENTRAL TIME. Price : $60 Pay at class cash preferred. Subject: Real World Rifle Skills (a study in robust manipulations and scoring fight stopping hits under stress)  Equipment needed: A rifle. Any rifle is fine, but you'll be better off with a magazine fed semi auto with a couple of spare mags. But if you want to roll "Old School" with a lever gun or bolt gun you are welcome to join us. We'll be focusing on the zero to 50 yard distance and using steel targets for some drills so no green tip or AP ammo.  A pistol. Whatever you REALLY carry....preferably the way you really carry it.  Ammo needed: 200 rds rifle (NO Green Tip or Armor Piercing ) 50 rds pistol Location: The usual place .....763 CR 322 Pisgah AL 35765      If you need directions PM me and I'll get them for you.
