A forum like this is the extent of my interaction with “social media”. I never have understood the need to share my life to that extent with the world.

I do have a Linked In account that is just work.

this IS my social media. I have found I do not care to associate with most people. If I want to be social I normally go out somewhere people are. Mainly car shows, gun shows, and church.

  2. Been here less than a year. Post when I feel like I should. Try to stay out of the dog house with other members. I have only made on purchase from another member and had no issues whatsoever. In the few months I've been a member I have seen a change myself in the members both new and established. I believe it is a sign of the time we are in. Everyone is nervous and edgy, there is very little trust and zero tolerance.

If I am buying I expect to go to where the seller is or chooses. If I am uncomfortable, I would just back out. Some seem to believe they should just not show. As for sales,,,I'm not selling. Every gun I have sold save one I want back. And even that one I believe could have been repaired.

I made one deal and asked the man who is local if he would like to meet at the Sherriff's office or police dept. He told me to come to his house. I was a little nervous but went anyway. I met a very nice man, older than myself. he showed me his house his radio controlled airplanes, his HAM equipment. I met his dog, saw a room with many arms. we talked for about an hour and a half. One never knows. mutual respect needs to be restored or society is doomed.

    What .357's did you buy?

    I got a 4 in barrel stainless 608 and a PT 945 stainless also. I'm a .45 ACP nut!

the fact that I paid too much is offset by the fact that there were only one of either on GB or Armslist so she gets that and the fact that all guns are high right now.

  4. Ladies and gentlemen I am here to BRAG! I have the greatest wife ever. I just purchased two new to me Taurus handguns this evening from Gunbroker. So y'all know I overpaid on these. No matter, I've wanted these two since they first came out and that isn't the topic. I forgot that GB is now charging tax on out of state sales so the total was over what I expected. She didn't complain, when I stopped bidding on one she said the total wasn't bad for two pistols I wanted. She is a saint, these are not "needed" purchases like what I bought last year. These two were purely wants. and now I have to find .357 ammo. Anyone have a suggestion on how I slip that one in?

Hate to bust your bubble.  An unfinished or original pistol like yours is worth more than the very nice looking pistol you have now.  I have run a refinishing shop for many years and tell the customer it’s worth more if I don’t touch it on some firearms.  I know you don’t plan on selling it, so it’s a mute question.  Enjoy.

I have a Browning Baby .25 and an Iver Johnson single 12 gauge and both will be refinished. in 20 years a refinished piece will be worth more than an un-useable rusty paperweight.

It looks beautiful, the way it should. let the barn finders keep their high priced junk and enjoy!

  6. true this is not constitutional carry. restrictions on WHERE and when and allthe other tripe. But it is a bite of the big elephant sandwich. remember, we didn't get here all at once, it took years, decades, to erode our freedoms. we won't get it back all at once either.

I've not priced them, but nothing is running cheap right now.

this is true. $650 does seem a tad high depending on the model and extras. for a base 1911 I would expect $450-500. with extra mags, aftermarket grips, etc it climbs quickly.

Once this is all over, I’d sure love to be able to read a brief summary of what has actually changed. Right now, I find it difficult to keep up with.

I'll wait for the legal eagles to interpret it. Won't go into effect until July 1st anyway. We'll know by then,

Mandatory gun classes in K-12 schools are not necessary.  If kids are interested in shooting, many schools and churches offer hunter's education.  A lot of schools have trap shooting teams.  Some kids just may not be interested in guns or the parents may not want the kids to learn.

Better to spend time and effort removing handgun carry permit restrictions for adults who choose to carry than force kids to take gun classes at school.

@Worriedman opened this thread to concentrate on the current bill in the governor's hand so the other discussions would not muddy the water. so this will be my last post not directly related to that.

ALL children need gun safety/safe handling education. They will at some point most like[y find themselves in the presence of firearms and whether they cared or were interested before that point they NEED the knowledge to prevent accidental shootings. We cannot force parents but it does need to happen somewhere. It should be taught at home as soon as the child can understand but most often is not.

I'm not your enemy.   We are on the same side and want the same thing.   But you and your boss seem to be idealists.   You want it all or you are just unhappy.

Remember, we must all hang together or we will be hung separately. Yes, I want it all and will continue to push to have our rights restored. Yes, we have to take what we can get but that doesn't mean to be satisfied.

Remove and treat them until such time they can be productive and reliable members of society.

those that are a danger to themselves and other yes. many can be treated as outpatient and contribute and live reasonably well. I would just hate to see us go back to locking those with mental disability away, filing and forgetting like we did not many decades ago.

Unfortunately not all have that resource, especially in single parent families.  Basic firearm safety would be an excellent exposure.  We have the scholastic shooting teams, wouldn't be a stretch to do a little safety series.

everyone has access to the library and there are PLENTY of resources on the internet. Don't tell me they don't have the time, if you value your children's life, MAKE the time. I'm sure parents all make time for ball games and such.

every child should be required to take gun safety in schools, real gun safety not this watered down don't touch/find an adult crap.

Additionally, I never ever said the permit courses adequately train individuals but it is a start....and unfortunately a start and a finish combined for way too many.

"you can lead a horse to water..."

the question isn't what one SHOULD do. it is what the government is allowed to REQUIRE us to do. everyone SHOULD be required to take a comprehensive driver's training course. the government COULD legally require and enforce this but they do not. no one's "right" to drive is guaranteed. everyone US citizen's right to keep and bear arms IS guaranteed without restriction/

I dunno. We had Marines putting live rounds in M-16's that had the BFA attached. In my battalion we had a Marine with a M-16 loaded with life rounds shoot a Korean woman while he was riding by in a truck on maneuvers. It's the old saying, "You can't fix stupid."

I know, we lost a guy for pointing loaded M16 in wrong direction on the range. You can fix stupid, but it's gonna hurt. And carry permit classes won't weed the stupid out either.

IMO the die for my country argument doesn’t hold water.  Those enlisted are under constant supervision.  Not so in civilian life.

Service and training have a great effect on responsibility, which is key in my opinion. Mayne not maturity so much but being responsible and having military small arms training is I assure you, enough. the need to know the law on rules of engagement will be instilled in basic training.
