  1. +1 on the MTAC,use one daily for my RIA Compact.
  2. All I did was clean the slide and frame with my wifes fingernail polish remover(dont tell her)this stuff is very high in acetone, then I just rubbed the frame and slide with the bluing on a patch, rinsed in hot water and dried.Of coarse reoiled with Remoil.very easy and quick to do.
  3. I think it will wear at least as good as the original finish,I had to rub it a little so it would blend, but it seems to coat well.if it doesnt(wear decent)its easy to just redo it.
  4. My son and I usually keep an eye out for .45 auto, but lately were still having no luck finding any,he stopped at a Wal Mart in Mississippi last week and the clerk told him they are only getting a few boxes in at a time, said to make it in before 7 AM when the truck makes it and he may find some.
  5. I recently acquired another Kimber TLE/RL II used from a fella(yeh I know I must be a 1911 magnet)anyways the finish was wearing pretty badly, which seems to be the norm with the kimber black oxide finish.my son gave me a bottle of G96 cold blue so I figured I would give it a try,it seems to do a pretty good job of hiding and blending the old finish, even removed the idiot scratch(now thats something).Heres a couple of pics, just in case some of you fellers decide whether its right for you. BEFORE AFTER Bass Pro sells the brand and can be had for just a few bucks,it sure beats having to clean, coat and bake or let a finish air dry for a couple of weeks.
  6. Seems like most are picking up the malware from sites like Facelift,Your Space, and other social sites,my son and daughter picked some up from some of these sites and Malware Bytes seemed to clean their machines up.The reason I never get any viruses is due to the fact I am unsociable and dont frequent them.
  7. Always remember when your doing your walk not to let your snubbie show.
  8. There also is another nice fact, almost everyone on TGO will talk about any brand and or caliber without belittling someone alse because they dont prefer brand x or z.Overall its a pretty diverse group of members.
  9. Ruger GP100 with a 6 inch barrel,I had one that would put them right next to each other(holes that is),and the price of them are usually pretty reasonable. Also they are a very tough pistol ,takes a lot to destroy them.
  10. Its the only place you can go where everyone else is dressed so weird that no one pays attention as to whether you have a gun on or not.
  11. I know nuTHING.
  12. PSSSST-Its RIA:D:D:DI am glad you like it,I knew you would as soon as you got a chance to shoot.
  13. If you are used to shooting 1911,s your not going to be happy with double action triggers, monetarily his offer is worth more money but its a tradeoff for a different type pistol. Its worth it if you think it is.Currently I own only 1 polymer pistol, but thats my preference.I am a big 1911 fan,go figure. P.S. -Pro series 1911,s are currently a little hard to find used-I know

    New Toy

Congrats on the new piece, they are quite nice for the money, mine has been 100%,the Officers size is pretty easy to conceal, and for me a lot of fun to shoot also.I think this is his brother(same family)
  15. Nice looking PT1911,how do you like yours so far,I have the PT with the rail in black and its been great.I will be refinishing my Springer in the alumahyde,I hope it comes out as good as yours did.
  16. Only a good portion of the readers here have at least one, well err, maybe two. They are nice arent they.
  17. Schweet collection,I am envious.man just when I thought I had my 1911ITIS under control and along comes a picture like this.
  18. +1 on that fact,I agree:D:D
  19. I have a horsehide for my 1911,and a cowhide for my 24/7,they are both quality holsters, the horsehide does take awhile to break in though.I've worn my horsehide constant for about 2 months and is still not fully broken in,I would say they are very tough, should last a good while. Currently I have a Minotaur MTAC on order due to the Crossbreed I have for the 1911,s fits the railed frames, the Mtac is ordered specifically for my RIA in the 3.5 inch barrel.I have had the MTAC before and they are also a very nice and comfortable holster which is also fully adjustable for cant angle.
  20. I stand corrected, they do make some models with a 2 piece barrel,Wow,who woulda thunk it,I dont think I much like the idea although, seems at one time or another something may give.
  21. Nice Springer,I really like those grips,i wish a lot more companies would use the wood engraved logo on them instead of medallions and such,Congrats.
  22. The barrel is not 2 piece, according to most manufacturers they are usually made from solid stainless blanks, machined to tolerance.I know I wouldnt own one that was a 2 piece.I have had several makes of 1911,S and not a one was made like that.
  23. I havent changed due to cooler weather,1911 in a Crossbreed or MTAC all the time.I prefer the feeling of the pistol being close to myself over the hanging feeling of OWB carry.
  24. My PT is over a year old and has about 400 rounds downrange and no oxidation yet, still looks new.
  25. Well now, thats a proposition anyone can see thru.
