Many place have been forced to pay fines because these cops illegally detain or arrest people.  Some of these cops are experienced and should know better but they let their ego get in the way.

A lot of times those so-called "auditors" are horse's asses, IMO. They'd be better served auditing school board meetings instead, IMO.

I do recall the TN State Trooper who trashed his entire career & got fired back during the Occupy Wall Street bull####. He was at the Capital, standing post & literally stomped up to the guy filming. Got right in his face DI style (I was a Marine) & began screaming at him. Not a good PR look, IMO. Got fired over it PDQ, IIRC?

Cops don't have it easy, let's be clear on that. Black people in the projects hate them because the only time they see cops is when they're hauling off a family member to jail. Kids in the projects are taught to hate cops & it just keeps rolling from there, sadly.

Too often cops are their own worst enemies, enabled by their brothern who don't say anything about their bad behavior. Too often some shouldn't be cops but they're not qualified to be a garbageman or dishwasher due to a lack of skills. Those are the ones who seem to make the news too often.

Nor is it limited to the TN or Nashville area. Years ago a Smyrna cop got fired for pulling a black female through the open window of her car because she refused to sign her traffic ticket. Seriously? He got fired too, rightfully so.

There's a sheriff in Grundy Co who has been arrested & charged with beating handcuffed prisoners. Brave man there.  🤬  Story below.

The 2019 indictment charged former Deputy Chief Tony Bean and Deputy T.J. Bean with one count of deprivation of rights under color of law in violation of 18 U.S.C. 242, for an incident involving an arrestee identified by the initials F.M.. The indictment alleges that the defendants, while serving with the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, used unreasonable force when they assaulted and injured arrestee F.M. in December 2017.

Bean was also indicted with one count of deprivation of rights under color of law in violation of 18 U.S.C. 242 for an incident involving arrestee C.G. The indictment alleges that, while serving as Chief of Police with the Tracy City Police Department, Tony Bean used unreasonable force when he assaulted and injured arrestee C.G. in August 2014.

In 2020 federal prosecutors said the former deputies bragged about beating people who were in handcuffs, and said that this was the "Grundy County Way."

Also, 10mm will often feed fine out of generic .45 ACP magazines, so maybe that is something you can experiment with.

    This surprises me.

Wouldn't the more narrow case of the 10mm kinda slop around in the feed lips a bit in a .45acp mag? Seems like it would be more of a gap than a 9mm in a .40 mag would be?

The additional shots made no difference to the perp surviving this incident, so it is all about the optics, but they are pandering to the wrong side of this.

Ehh, I don't know about "pandering". Thankfully there's no race baiting being interjected into this fiasco, so we can be glad for that.

From what I hear from current cops about the current chief, he's a lot like how Joe Casey used to be: by the book. Unlike the past 3-4 chiefs, the rank & file cops seem to like the current chief.

For those who don't know of former chief Joe Casey, he once gave himself a 2-3 day suspension for some minor infraction. I don't recall what it was these days. His nickname was "Hang 'em high" Joe Casey as he thought all drug dealers should be hung from the town square lamp posts. Needless to say, that didn't play well with the libtard elite. LOL!

IMO nothing wrong with shooting.  The guy blocking traffic

Correcting my statement. Guy was in fact in the road lane in the pic I saw.

Of course, the blood sucking lawyers have already made an appearance on behalf of his family. The lawyer was on TV, sounded like she was making it up as she spoke. Really don't like these people.

That's what lawyers do, I'm afraid.

Could be worse. Could be the esteemed "Rev." Al Sharpton..............................   😝

Here's a nifty article that outlines several of (former) Det. Dunaway's transgressions.  It appears that Dunaway took a voluntary resignation 7/2007 after getting caught giving false testimony in another trial.  It's a common (and unfortunate) practice, and one that MNPD, as well as other departments have a tendency of doing with disgraced officers.  I have to ask why an incident that resulted in a plea deal where Dunaway resigned from the department was not reported to the POST commission.

The sad part is, other detectives/officers HAD to know about this false testimony and/or bad conduct but said NOTHING about it. Hard to earn the respect of the public with things like this, IMO.

If you have lived in SE TN for a while, how many power outages have you experienced and for about how long were you without power?

Does anyone know if any emergency services in SE TN monitor any civilian radio communications in emergencies? CB or GMRS or ham or ????. Down the road I'll contact each of them but I'm just wondering if anyone has any information right now.

I'm only about 3/4 of a mile from the town square, so my power issue may well be completely different than yours down there in the bottom Hwy 411? I don't think there's a sub station below Hwy 64/411 intersection, so your feed is coming from there, IMO.

Volunteer Electric is pretty darn good about getting power back on ASAP. The most recent issue was the little bit of snow we had dropped a lot of trees on Hwy 30 through Reliance & Greasy Creek (love that name!). I think they had the whole area back up in just a couple of days?

If you pay attention to the lower Hwy 411 south of Hwy 64, you'll see some trees that could cause issues all up & down 411. Tree trimming is limited to budget, sadly. Your neighbors might be a better source of info for power outages in your specific location?

According to the Fire & Rescue chief, there's no monitoring of anything CB related. Range is only 3-5 miles anyway, so that won't do you any good. Chief also said he can send & receive anywhere in the county on his hand held Kenwood HAM radio. Yes, they use the repeaters that are up on Chilhowee Mtn but it's still GTG.

I think I too am going with a hand held so I can use it in either my truck or motorcycle should I ever need it. I think hand held units are somewhere in the 35-40 watt range?

Chief also turned me on to the Cleveland Amateur Radio Club. I plan on being at their next meeting & finding someone to help me get started. Chief said someone may well have a gently used unit for sale instead of having to pay NIB pricing, which works for me.

I figure HAM radios are like guns: one just doesn't rush out & buy the first thing they see or hold. I plan on doing a lot of Q&A from people whom know their stuff before I depart from my hard earned $$$$$$.

    Hope this helps!

    completely justified shooting

Maybe, maybe not. At least one officer has been decommissioned over this incident. Might be more once the shooting board has done their diligence.

The whole shooting thing could've been possibly avoided, IMO. My question is why weren't the cops behind their cars for cover until they could see the guy's hands clearly? Why stand out in the open like they did? Granted, my background is mil & not LE, but cover would've seemed to have been the prudent thing to do, yes?

I've seen some question firing two rds from the shotgun, stating it was excessive. Not sure where I stand on that one either. I have no clue what rd is standard for Metro PD but I would imagine 00 buck? I can't imagine anyone being upright after a single rd of that?

Seems like things could've gone a little slower as well? Maybe wait for some tactical shields to be brought out? Heck, drive a patrol car behind him, if that was possible? Seems to have been some options available rather than rushing the situation, IMO.

Clearly the dead guy had mental issues, no question there. I also believe he did suicide by cop too. Just a sad situation all the way around, IMO.

  10. Story on video

Background: one guy (who is a jackass, make no mistake) gets animal control called on him by his next door neighbor. Guy's dogs are fenced but I guess they get out once in a while, as many doggies are prone to do.

Animal control comes, looks things over & leaves with no citations given. (Not sure if they made more than one visit or not?)

Neighbor who called is NOT satisfied, she then calls the po-po. Officers (plural) show up & at this point one could make the argument that was when jackasses collide.

Dog owner gets arrested for cursing on his own property, cuffed & tased for fun as well. The irony is, as he was getting arrested for cursing, one of the cops is clearly heard on video as saying, "I don't give a ####!"   😝

(USSC has ruled cursing IS protected by the 1st Amendment as long as it's not an insult directed specifically at someone or words to that effect.)

Charges were dropped, cursing dog owner goes free. Lawsuit has been filed for false arrest, the tasering, etc. Dog owner's wife says he is bi-polar, which adds to the fun.

Not sure who to root for here......................... I think I'll root for the doggies?

Thats what my wife tells me when I say something about the price of something.

Yes, BUT! One can compare the H&K prices with less-premium brands & see how huge that price difference is, IMO. A BCG doesn't add a whole lot to accuracy, IMO.

Back in Mississippi there were quite a few Hispanics and they were pretty bad for driving without license or insurance. After one hit me while stopped for oncoming traffic, I told the Highway patrol that instead of arresting these people and us supporting them in jail, that I had a much better idea. Tow their car to the impound and charge $25 per day storage until they could provide proof of insurance and license. They would either comply like everyone else or run out of cars.

Illegals can't get insurance because they can't acquire a legal DL, at least in the South.

I've had to use my uninsured motorist coverage twice after being hit by someone else. Both times were natural born Americans. Sucks.

I have a Winchester 1873 in 44-40 and I really want to take it to the range, but I would like some advice. First, the stock is intact and not cracked, and I’d like to keep it that way- I’d hate to crack it because I shot it.

Forgive my ignorance on this caliber as I've never shot it. But isn't it also a pistol caliber? If so, wouldn't the recoil be too mild to strain the stock?

I would think the majority of stock breakages resulted from the gun being knocked over or dropped or something similar?

Buffalo Arms, an ammo company, makes cowboy load ammo. IOW, very mild loadings compared to standard commercial loads. I would also check out www.georgia-arms.com for ammo. I've been buying from them for decades now & they make darn good stuff.

I envy you your ownership of this nice looking rifle too!

  14. If needed, there's Jeff Walle (Wally) at Guns-n-Leather in Greenbriar. He works Thu-Sat, last I heard.

He was at Specialty Arms for years & has been @ Guns-n-Leather for over 10-12 years now. He's got probably close to 30 years experience & shot competitions for a long time, so he knows what a shooter wants in their guns.

The 'smith for Franklin Gun Shop is the father-in-law of my nephew & used to live down the street from me. Sadly, I never got to meet him. I was unaware they had close for Jan but I don't live there anymore either.

  15. By now everyone is pondering their income tax refund(s), where to apply it in order to help fuel the inflation? LOL!

Unlike many other gun owners (I'm sure), *I* dream of things that I would get were I to hit some sort of lottery win. So I nose around GB a bit, looking at "nice things" that would be fun to have at home. Not really shopping full auto, sadly, just nice things.

Here are a few I've found that gave me some serious pause for reflection.

How much fun would this be? Full auto, .300 Black Out. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/919526666

$1100 for a bolt carrier???????? And not even all-OEM????     https://www.gunbroker.com/item/914968711

$689 for an EMPTY H&K soft pistol case????? Seriously????  No gun, no mags, nothing but an empty soft case.   https://www.gunbroker.com/item/917173187

$4200 for an UPPER! Not a complete rifle, a simple UPPER!!!!!   https://www.gunbroker.com/item/922426003

All my friends know I've been drinking the H&K kool-aid for a long, long time. I believe they're the best built, best shooting & most accurate guns one can buy, end of story. Not necessarily the best value for the $$$, but certainly the best in their categories. But holy crap on a stick, these prices for these items are nothing short of insane, IMO.

Spend your refunds wisely, gents!   😝

Depending on how thos plays out, I could see it somewhat looking like entrapment if the sting was not very careful. I mean one guy buying 73 guns from him?

You seem to forget, this IS NYC we're talking about here. Logic, reason & common sense fly out the window when it comes to firearms there.

Hard to see from here how entrapment can be considered at all, IMO. Transporting guns (what, 1000 miles?) to a city/county/state known to be strongly anti-gun? A city/county/state he grew up in? Were someone to offer you $1K to mule some cocaine, do you have to ponder if it's legal or not? Nah, they have this idiot dead to rights, IMO.

Maybe he can use Alec Baldwin's lawyer?   😝
