  2. This country is so caught up in political correctness that I doubt it will ever straighten itself out. Immigration laws are a joke. How about watering stations along the border, (on our side) so the illegals do not expire from thirst? What a load of crap. Armed guards with lots of ammo and permission to engage would be a better solution. Our gov't makes it easy for illegals to enter. When illegals are caught they may or may not be thrown out, lots of gray area on what happens. How about the recent case where a rapist was arrested and tens of other illegal immagrants were caught in the raid. Now those illegals are suing over their rights being violated. Many attorneys have commented that the illegals have a solid case and stand to win thousands of dollars in this civil case. I am not sold on Fred just yet, he has some issues to address for me to support him. Some of his past voting records need to be explained. But I do believe that positions can change and what a person did years ago does not mean they still feel that way today. Who has not ever changed their mind? More to the point a candidate's personal views should mean squat. An elected official is elected to represent their constituents. The views of the constituents are what should be reflected by the voting record of those elected to office. That is why is it imperative that we all correspond with our representatives, we must let our feeling be known!
  3. The BATFE is no ones friend. They are not against guns, just against citizens having them. They are for the law, just the law where they can harrass honest lawabiding, gun owning citizens. If laws do not apply then they use their so-called authority to stop citizens from exercising basic rights. I could only shake my head at the recording of images. In my similar experience the local news crews could film, but a bystander had his camera taken away. Later it was returned but that tells me the police were overstepping their bounds as in the above instance. Plain and simple, law enforcement officers, no matter who their bosses are are not your friend. Do not willingly allow them to search you or your property. They are looking to make arrests and generate income for their agencies. Doing the right thing will rarely come into play. The BATFE is a hairs breadth short of being a gestapo type agency, the only difference is there covert methods. But not to worry, if undercover does not work they will plain come at you to do what they wish.
  4. Hi Julez, I think you ought to go with the FAL in .308. Have Tower fix it up with a composite stock for lightness and one that is also length adjustable.
  5. Being left handed and shooting mostly left handed I can attest to the fact that in a right hand world we leftys learn to adapt and overcome on many levels. I can easily drop a magazine by using my index finger on my left hand. I can use that same finger to release the slide lock as well. I personally do not see it as any real disadvantage. All my life I have learned to adapt to y'alls world. I also train myself to shoot righty as well. Need be I feel just as comfortable with either hand really. What does annoy me in the shooting world is semi auto rifles and having shells eject across my right eye all the time. Pistols feel fairly normal weak handed but shooting long guns just feels plain weird trying to do it righty. I do not see why a ambidextrous mag release would prohibit anyone from buying the weapon though. I do not own nor have I ever shto a Glock but the mag release thing seems to be an advantage. One thing I am certain of is that I am in my right mind and most everyone else is not.
  6. Welcome to the board. but you gotta do something about the diet coke, diet pepsi is way better
  7. personally I actually about always wear 2 tshirts, one tucked the other untucked, and then a button down shirt over the top. Usually the button down shirt is unbuttoned but it is simple enough to just hook the bottom button or two as need be. The outer tshirt conceals the weapon anyway and the button down shirt just adds some cover. The extra shirt also helps prevent printing too. And FWIW criminals mostly look like the guy next door.
  8. Mud, sometimes it is better to keep peace and harmony within the family. But depending on the lay of your 5 acres you should be able to make some comprimise. Who actually owns the property? And why are your in-laws so against you shooting?
  9. Of course bring the Thunder 5. I am not sure if I shot it more than a couple of rounds. I will try to remember to pick up a box of 410 shells for it. I will bring my Savage .22 lefty bolt action and you can explain the fine points of using a scope to me. What are you doing up at 3:00 AM? shouldn't you be snuggled up with your bride:devil:?
  10. CAS it is about simple to to get to where we met up before going to the range to shoot. Stevie Wonder could find it.
  11. You all missed some big and loud fun up in Kingsport. Just as well as it was more ammo and hamburgers for me;) We shot for hours and hours. It was toooooo much fun. Lots of long guns to go around and of course many pistolas to blaze away with. Everything from .22 mags to 410 shotshells. Betwen the SKS, M44, M1A and others there was no end to the roar of big guns! Tower even had some youngsters come on down and teach them proper shooting skills and safety habits. No "booger hooks" on triggers after Tower gets through with them:D. The looks on their faces when they made something go boom was well worth it. Can't wait for the next time.
  12. Found three boxes of the 124gr WWB in Kingsport yesterday, $5 a box bought all three.
  13. I have a 1948 M-44 and it is the loudest gun I have ever shot. It is an absolute hoot to shoot. Ammo is still pretty cheap if you do not mind shooting 50 year old cartridges, which I do not mind. Matter of fact, anyone coming to the Meet and Shoot tomorrow in Kingsport will have the chance to shoot it!
  14. make youself at home and come out shooting! Welcome from Corryton
  15. anyone from Knoxville area besides me going?

  17. Went by the Wally World in Halls tonight on my way home. They only had one box of 124gr. WWB. I went ahead and got it as I was there but it was not $5, $7 was the marked down clearance price. Still $7 was about 2 bucks and change less than what it was before the closeout so I am happy for that anyway.
  18. OKAY, who is coming?? How about a roll call of sorts. Are we meeting at Pratts and what time?
  19. Howdy from Corryton. Hope you like it here!
  20. Gunslingers has a real nice Milsurp room, and they are not shy about letting you fondle whatever is in their cases. I also like Crowders, they have tons of stuff to look at and feel up.
  21. What I really want to know is how do they feel about Franklin Gun?
