  1. Oh, there are plenty of people like that out there. They, and their ambulance chasing lawyers almost killed General Aviation (everything except the airlines and military) in the late 1970s. Some manufacturers even shut down building new models with improvements, because the trial lawyers were suing that the old models were defective, otherwise, there would be no need for improvement! I did my Master's Thesis on "Product Liability in General Aviation", and covered many cases as stupid as the skydiving case. The small airplane industry is still struggling to get back on it's feet, even to this day. The last Cessna 152 that was built sold for $42,000.00, and $15,000.00 of that was "Product Liability Insurance"! We don't have the time, or patience, here, but I could tell you about many dumb cases like the one above, many! Why do they call it common sense when it's so uncommon? Sen. Fred Thompson (Tennessee)
  2. David, please thank Charlie for providing the cooler of ice and all the bottled water! Not sure we could have stood the heat too long without it. It was very nice of him to do that for us. Many thanks. Sidewinder
  3. The Wal-Mart on Old Fort Parkway in Murfreesboro has a "handwritten" sign on the ammo locker of 2 boxes per caliber per day. This seems to conflict with the other WMs in the area. Does anyone know if WM has a stated policy, or if each store is able to make up their own rules. There seems to be something fishy going on at some of the WMs!
  4. Good looking holster, Memphismason. It looks like it allows the comfort of leather against your body, but the ease of re-holstering in Kydex. What position do you wear it in? Have you tried it in the 4 O'clock position, and if so was it comfortable there too? Does it stay in position after hours of wear and movement? Thanks for the info.
  5. Welcome Issac. I'm a newcomer on here myself, having signed up just a couple of weeks ago. I found out real quick that this is a nice bunch of people. I was invited to two of the TGO shoots at Owl Hollow, liked everyone I met, and was hooked. Not only was I impressed with their acceptance and friendliness, but they are a treasure trove of firearms knowledge... and they freely share it with everyone... newcomers included! You're going to like it here. I'm still waiting for my HCP. I like to "mess" with computers... but fall in the novice category, or "shade tree mechanic" type. Enjoy. Why do they call it common sense, when it's so uncommon? Tenn. Sen. Fred Thompson
  6. Thanks Titan 14, this sure would be a good one to pass on to all our email buddies. Why do they call it common sense, when it's so uncommon? TN Senator Fred Thompson
  7. Like many of you, I saw this article elsewhere, and realized the media was trying to make the Pastor out to be some crazed lunatic. The article said they couldn't get insurance to cover the service with "loaded" weapons. When they finally got one to cover them with firearms, but unloaded, the article said it cost them $700 for the one service! Why do they call it common sense when it's so uncommon? Tenn Senator Fred Thompson
  8. As I read all of these posts, I'm reminded how far this country has declined since WWll. Politicians have messed up most every conflict we've had since then... Korea, Viet Nam, Iraq (initially), and it continues today. I too, feel we are loosing our country to the corupt, inept, narcissistic, arrogant people that are supposed to be "public servants". I believe they are "out of control"! They vote themselves 30% pay raises when the rest of us are lucky to get 3-5%. They don't retire under the same system they have mandated for us. I'm told they draw their full pay for the rest of their lives! They don't use the same medical system that we use. Again, I'm told theirs is all paid for at no charge to them... at the Mayo Clinic, I believe. They are treated more like royalty than servants of the people. Their salaries and perks cost us a lot of money. When one of them passes, I'm told his or her pay is passed on to their spouse. What a sweet deal! No wonder they never want to leave. They have become "career" politicians. Senator Fred Thompson, from Tennessee, is one of the few that I know of that did what he said he'd do... he left after two terms! I believe, with every bit of my mind, body, and soul that we need "TERM LIMITS" on these people, and we need them now! Term limits are imposed on the President, for exactly the reason they should apply to all politicians... from the local dog catcher all the way to Washington. Without term limits, we're toast! That's my theory, and I'm sticking to it. Why is common sense so uncommon these days? Tenn. Senator Fred Thompson
  9. I have a FEG PA-63 in the 9x18 Makarov that i'm interested in working a trade on a Kel-Tec P3AT. It shoots good, and has a safety. I already have a couple of 9mms, and wanted a P3AT. I have about 450 rounds of ammo, 2 mags, and the leather officer's holster to go with it. The leather officer's holster has a pocket for the second mag. Actually, I shot better with it at the range than I did with my Kel-Tec P-11. I didn't particularly notice any unusual recoil, certainly not any more than my Kel-Tec. Anyone interested in working some sort of deal on a trade, just let me know. I don't particularly need to trade it. I just want a KT-P3AT. I'm relatively new on here, so this may not work...but I'm going to try to post a picture. As we can see, I didn't have any luck with that! PM me if you have an interest. Thanks.
  10. Sorry m&p40, I just bought a gun, had all the background stuff done, as required by the firearms dealer, and just completed all the paperwork for the handgun concealed carry permit, but do not know if investigations were duplicated. It's just my sense of perception, but I think the one for the permit is much more in "depth" than the one they run at the gun show when you buy a gun. I just finished doing my finger printing about 4 hours ago, so my memory is pretty fresh. I filled out as much paperwork, with confidential, personal information on it as I did for going through nuclear weapons training during the Viet Nam War! No doubt, it's a hassle and will separate you from a bit of your hard earned greenbacks, about $115.00 plus your training class. Personally, I think it's all about "control", and dollars. 11. Sorry to hear of barrel problems with your Kel-Tec PF9. I've heard good things about Kel-Tec customer service, but never have had to use it myself. I'm also a Kel-Tec owner, but my model is the P-11. I just qualified with it for my concealed carry permit this past weekend. I have a slightly different problem with my KT P-11, and I'm told it's a common problem. However, I haven't heard of any successful fix for it. The problem is the so called baby rattle in my magazine with more than 7 rounds. At 7 rounds, or less, it will not rattle. But at 10 rounds it rattles a lot. I've flipped the spring, as some have suggested, but that didn't help. My 10 round Glock 26 mag has zero rattle in it. Yes, I know there's a few dollars difference in the price, but I like them both. If anyone knows a fix for the Kel-Tec mag baby rattle, please let me know. Thanks.
  12. Check out Grady Jones on Franklin Road and Beasley, I think, but sure about the exact location. Good reputation for years, and reasonable on his prices. I've known him for over 30 years and know him to be a man of integrity.
  13. From one newbie to another newbie, welcome Charisse. I hope you enjoy your time here. I went to the Owl Hollow shoot twice, and everyone was nice and friendly, so I joined. I've finished 2 steps of the 3 step process to get my concealed carry permit. Unfortunately, we live in a dangerous world these days. Why is common sense so uncommon? Senator Fred Thompson
  14. On the radio, I pretty much keep it nailed on 99.7, for Ralph, Michael, Fred and Jerrie, Dave, Phil, and Michael. I also enjoy Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and others that will report what is happening in our daily lives. Naturally, I used to always try to catch Paul Harvey whenever he was on. Happy Father's Day to all the gun loving dads out there. I feel that being a well informed, and well trained gun owner is a badge of honor in protecting our children's future. Without our guns, we'd have no freedom, nor would our children be able to grow up in a free society. Just my humble opinion, and I'm sticking to it.
  15. Was told by the person working in the Wal-Mart ammo section of Old Fort Parkway store in Murfreesboro that he got in eight cases of WWB 9mm Lugar 100 value boxes a few days ago. But, I was there last night... none on the shelves. He called other local WM stores, and no one had it. Looks like if you're not there when they open the shipment, you're out of luck.
  16. Hi Justin, I'm a newbie as well... just joined this week. Chuck is my name and go by Sidewinder, in reference not to the snake, but the missile. I've been to the last two shoots down at Owl Hollow, and met lots of nice people. I was sponsored by Westwind Mike, a personal friend for years. Everyone I have met with this organization has been first class from the get go. I think we'll enjoy shooting and getting to know more of the members. They seem to be very knowledgeable people, and I feel I can learn a lot from them. Looking forward to meeting you too.
  17. Kudos to Mustang dave for posting the letter from the Arizona woman, read on the Glenn Beck Show. This is the attitude of most of the people in this country, that has any common sense. Regardless of whether the politicians listen or not, it's immaterial. We the people have the vote to "remove" them from office, or keep them in office, and when only about 35% of the elgible voters care enough to take the time to go to the polls and do theit "civic duty", we're going to continue to have rif raf like this leading our Nation. Granted, there are some so stupid I hope they don't vote. But, we have to study these scumbags from their real roots and beliefs, from their past and present actions, and not from what they say, but what they have done, then compare them to our own beliefs, about how we think they will uphold out Constitution, then go vote and get others to vote as well. Our complacency (laziness) has just about cost us our Republic. Please register, study all the candidates, and not just from their slick ads on TV and radio, but from their records, decide on the one that you think will best uphold our constitution, and our rights, especially our second Amendment rights, and then do all you possibly can to help that person get elected. yes, it'll cost each of us some time, worry, and money, but it'll be worth it, many times over. We owe it to our children and grandchildren...and on and on. We can not afford to give up the good fight. Remember Sheriff Pusser from "Walking Tall"? We need to Walk Tall. 18. Let's see, he probably worked hard for thirty years, putting his life on the line, to get to be called by his title, and she was ordained with that "Senator" tille in "ONE" day, just because enough people liked her! She should have been reminded that she, and the others, are "public servants". She wouldn't make a pimple on a good General's posterior. Such disrespect, such arrogance, such a threat to our freedoms and rights, especially Second Amendment rights. Why is common sense so uncommon these days? Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson
  19. First visit to Memphis was in 1958. It was a beautiful city then. I'm shocked about what Memphis has become. I guess the best policy may be to refrain from going to Beal Street, and spending cash in the businesses. After a loss of revenue, they may rethink those posted signs. 20. Just signed up for TGO today. Visited the Owl Hollow shoot twice with Westwind Mike, and liked the TGO people I met there, and enjoyed the shooting. Thanks to everyone that took the time to shoot my KT P-11 yesterday, and give me an unbiased opinion. I'm happy with the little gun. Thanks for your hospitality. Sidewinder
