  2. dang that sucks. Ive never dealt with them. From the looks of it I wont be either. If your still interested in getting one try classicarms.us. Thats where I got mine and from the time I ordered it to when I got it in my house was less than a week. Very nice people too. I checked a few days ago and they still had them for 299. IDK how long that deal will last, but Im assuming it will be short lived. Id like to order another one really. Just have to wait till after the holidays are wrapped up. Hopefully they will still be 299. They also have mosin hex rifles for 100 bucks. Dont know why I havent picked one of those up yet seeing as how I dont have one. But good luck with getting your rifle.
  3. well the vortex strikefire came in today, gotta love midway. Ordered it Friday, came in today. And of course, like a kid on Christmas morning, I had to open her up and install it. Really like it so far, only range time will tell. Anyways here she is, new and improved.
  4. i will try to make it. the wife has to work that saturday anyway. as of right now i dont see why i couldnt make it
  5. ok so it was a dumb question then haha. Thanks for letting me know that information! I just wanted to make sure everything was gonna be on the straight and narrow.
  6. Im sorry if this has been covered before but I thought I would post this up to ask for your guys' opinion. To make a long story short, I have a Taurus TCP .380 that I bought brand new and is registered to me. A good friend of mine has a Glock 23 that he said maybe we could work out a trade for because he is really wanting a pocket automatic. The trade would probably involve cash from my end. My concern is, my gun is registered to me because I bought it brand new, but the glock he has is not registered to him, its just a gun he bought off of one of his buddys. He has no official paperwork stating that the previous owner gave up ownership, like a bill of sale or something of that sort. And for all we know, the guy he bought it from was not the original buyer. We have no clue how many times its been bought and sold, traded, etc. Therefore we dont know the original purchaser of the glock. Now I do know, if we do trade I will definately do a bill of sale on my .380 to show I give up ownership of it. But what does he need to do? Does he still need to do a bill of sale on the glock to show he gives up ownership of it, even though he has no prior paperwork on it? Im afraid if I ask him to do too much digging around to find the original buyer or ask the guy he bought it from alot of questions, he will just say forget it on the trade, and I really want the Glock. I just want to make sure that we do it right so that we each have proof of ownership for each gun. A better way to put it I guess is can he transfer ownership of the Glock to me, even though he has no proof of ownership of it? Im assuming he cant. Sorry if this is a dumb question. But Ive never traded firearms before. Bought plenty of them, just never traded.
  7. that would be a good idea if everyone else didnt have the same idea haha. id probably build some kind of underground structure, I dont know how many of you have read the book or seen the movie "The Road" (very good book and film BTW) but it would be similar to what they find. Nothing too big, just somewhere to hole up underground for awhile, stocked plenty with non perishables. After that, the first thing I would do is go find a military base (thats been overun of course) and steal a hummer with a mounted Dillan Aero minigun, and a truck full of ammo to feed it haha. That would be the ultimate zombie killing machine in my book.

    My AR Project

    nice job man...good looking rifle
  9. just so you know, I envy your shooting shack and that you have the ability to shoot long range. im pretty sure the only long range here in chattanooga is at the chattanooga rifle club, and im not a member. looks like you have a nice setup there with the shack and all. plus, nice work on the camera!
  10. I cant wait for my daughter to get a couple years older so I can buy her her first .22. I think I will be just as excited buying one for her as she will be (I hope) excited recieving it!
  11. i have a 2 yr old daughter who is bigggg into the disney princess stuff (what 2yr old girl isnt), you should see her room haha. but at the same time whenever I get back from the range and I am cleaning my guns she just sits and watches every move I make the whole time. She is still 2 or 3 yrs away from her first .22, but I figured by letting her watch me handle/clean them, its a good way for her to get accustomed to them. and to the op, Im sure your son will be very pleased! just have the camcorder ready haha.
  12. yep thats where i went. my father in law owns a bit of acreage in jasper that im probably gonna go shoot at this wkend. When I got to the range a couple of weekends to shoot the ar, it was packed. there was only 1 lane open, and it was a 100 yard lane. I was hoping that a 50 yard would be open but no such luck, until after about an hour of shooting on the 100, then a 50 opened up and I grabbed it up real quick. By the time I left the range there was guys waiting in a line for a lane to open up. I really dont like shooting with people standing everywhere, I dont know why. I guess because I feel pressured to hurry up so they can have a chance to shoot as well. So I decided to just go to my father in laws next time.
  13. im surprised nobody has mentioned the glock 36
  14. thanks for all the info! the only ammo ive shot out of it so far is Federal/Lake City XM193 55 gr. Im probably gonna try the 62 gr green tip Federal/Lake City next. I think its XM855
  15. Thanks Mike, really the reason why I got the paradus is because it came with the buffer and buffer spring, without having to buy it all seperately. I will eventually change it to a magpul ctr. Thats the stock I really want. But, like you said the DPMS paradus is a very good stock and will work just fine until I get a CTR And Caster, trust me, I know what Ive done haha. I cant wait to start another one, but it will have to be after the first of the year.
  16. Nothing too special, this being my first build I didnt want to go overboard on anything, just wanted a standard M4 style carbine. Just thought Id show you guys a couple snaps of it. Something about building your own rifle and then firing it for the first time at the range I really liked alot, so this one will be 1 of 3 I hope to build. Parts- Stag lower (Stag lower parts kit in it) PSA 14.7" (permanently pinned flashider) upper (bolt, bolt carrier, and charging handle came with the upper as well) DPMS buttstock Hogue overmolded grip (love it) YHM flip up rear sight I went 2 weekends ago and shot it for the first time and it did good. I shot about 60 rounds through it and in the first 15 rounds or so I had two FTF. I think what it was, was that for some crazy reason the trigger didnt reset on those two rounds. Nonetheless I field stripped it and looked it over really well and couldnt find anything out of the ordinary. So I put it back together then shot somewhere around 40-50 rounds through it without another hiccup. Who knows. I plan on going again this upcoming weekend to shoot 100 rounds or so through it. Still needs to be broken in haha. Anyways here it is. Oh and that dark black spot you see above the trigger in the second pic is just accumulation of gun oil, didnt see it when I took the pic or I wouldve wiped it off.
  17. yeah, i think i am actually gonna go with a vortex strikefire. they seem to be exactly what im looking for

  19. ordered it monday, came in today. ordered it from classicarms.us. never heard from them until a fellow member posted a link in a thread to them. good people to order from, smooth transaction.
  20. Well I figured I'd jump on one of these while the gettin was good on them. 330 bucks shipped to my dealer with an extra mag, cant beat that. I got the 7.62x39 version. I used Mark Scott at Scott bookeeping to do the transfer, very cool guy. Look for a conversion after the holiday season depending on how i like this one i may even order another one in a different caliber. p.s. dont mind the wifes cat in the pic

    Best SKS?

just out of curiosity, as I havent been in the gun industry for a very ling time (about 5 or 6 yrs) why would the yugos be at the bottom? from what ive gathered over the small research ive done on them, and by reading on this forum, i wouldve placed the norinco at the bottom, then the yugo, then the russians. I have a yugo 59/66, my father in law has a norinco. I would pick my yugo ANY day over his norinco, as someone stated the yugos are accurate (for sks standards) and have never had a single problem out of mine. When it all boils down to it though, an sks is an sks. they are all great rifles that are fun to shoot, cheap to shoot, and easy to maintain.

  23. thanks to this thread and your link, i have a saiga 7.62x39 on the way!
  24. i know this is an old thread but i wanted to add my name to the list of +1 for Mark Scott. Nice guy and was helpful, this was my first firearm purchase through the mail and he was nice enough to tell me the process step by step. Now I just have to wait for my new Saiga to come in
  25. pretty much anything from Whitechapel, the A Perfect Circle song from Riesident Evil Afterlife (cant remember the name), and no zombie killing spree would be right without Bodies, from Drowning Pool, oh and Tear Away by Drowning Pool as well
