  1. I remember the guy during Katrina that stayed put. Even had a porta-potty on his porch. Kept the scumbags away with his shotgun and used liquor as payment for getting his porta-potty cleaned. He had a room full of liquor for trade. Several months ago a local liquor store went belly up. I stopped in on one of the last few days and picked up some tradin' goods. Got a pretty good deal. Nothing I drink but I figure when times get tough, there's a segment of the population that will do most anything for a bottle of the hard stuff. Have put back some silver coins, too. Gold is too hard to deal with. Silver coins on the other hand are small, sized to a specific value even though the value may change you'll always know what you're getting or giving.
  2. those are all good, I was wondering if junk yards might give you a couple of car doors? I think everyone would enjoy punching holes in car doors.
  3. I'm considering having some people over who have expressed an interested in shooting a couple of guns. Probably an AK, AR and a pistol or two. They really aren't gun guys, I just wanted to see if I can get them interested. They will be CLOSELY SUPERVISED, but I would like for it to be fun for them too. Silhouettes at 100 yards is probably not going to cut it. I made a couple of little spinners for .22s that are fun, buy haven't been able to think of anything else. It's always more to shoot at something and hit it than not.
  4. hum, I sure thought I remember that being in the original legislation. Not that it has kept me from carrying, anyway.
  5. actually, doesn't the TN CC law specifically make churches official criminal empowerment zones by prohibiting CC by otherwise law abiding citizens?
  6. I figured the best parts were the previews on the TV commercials, but no. It's a funny movie. Other than the language and fake zombie blood, it's really not an R rated movie. I also loved the soundtrack.

that's pretty neat if it shoots pretty good. Did they have many or do they seem to be a little scarce?

how much did that .22 upper go for, the belted one, I'd like to see one of those? That would be a killer on an M16 Your photo was of the .223 belted.
  9. this guy talks about making his own electronic call for pretty cheap. I thought I might try it. Think I've got everything needed just lying around so I wouldn't have to buy anything. Varmint Al's Hunting Page Don't know if it will work. We here them around here all the time at night. Have seen a few in the daytime. Been itching to pull a trigger on one.

I didn't know it was ever anything but muddy for the shoot
  11. Reloaders Bench has one in stock, looks pretty nice. A little heavier than I expected, but a nice piece $1700 or there abouts.
  12. I'd agree, we haven't hit bottom on ARs yet. They are looking good though. I'd say after Christmas, maybe around Feb./March, keep your powder dry until then. UNLESS, you're a little antsey on having no high capacity rifle in your safe. We never know when another political event might take place that will quickly jump prices rising. I'm holding, but plan to double down when it seems we're at the bottom.
  13. I'd check his temperature on states rights and Tennessee's sovereignty. If we ever hope to rein in the fed. gov't., states demanding their rights back according to the 10th amendment is the only way it's ever going to happen, peacefully.

how about a follow up report from someone. Wanted to go, but no cash to blow so stayed home this time, so sad.
  17. not to throw a monkey wrench in the works but sometimes showers can be a real pain. At our old house (built in 1978) I had to do the same job you're needing done on more than one occasion. The biggest problem I always had was, right off the bat, my knobs were seemingly welded onto the stems. They just won't come off. It seems the continual exposure to the shower environment causes the brass stems to weld themselves to the pot metal knobs. Usually replacement knobs are available, I boogered mine up the first time and had to replace them both. After that I used some anti seize compound on the stems and that seemed to help the next time around. I ended up using a dremel to cut off the knobs and not ruin the stems, believe it or not. Sometimes showers will have threaded sleeves that go over the stems which will need to be unscrewed. Find a socket that just fits inside then use a pair of channel locks to turn them out. If you're real careful you can do it without scratching the hell out of them. Sometimes padding the jaws helps. You may need a deep well socket to reach down in the fixture to unscrew the stem. I slipped one down over it and let the stem protrude through the square ratchet hole and used channel locks to then turn the socket. The do make special long tools for this a home depot. Hopefully the washers will fix you up. Make sure to check out the washer seat down in the fixture once you get them out. Check for smooth sealing surfaces, no cuts or cracks. They can sometimes need replacing, and I won't go into that, hopefully new washers will get you by.
  18. Just picked up a pound this afternoon at RB. They didn't have any last Wed.
  19. yes, and my preference is either a P-22 or Beretta 21A
  20. Well, I guess I'll be the dissenting vote here. Just got back, and while it does not compare with either of the Nashville shows, I didn't think it was all that bad for a first time out. Yes it was small. The crowd had apparently slacked up as there was room to move around and not shoulder to shoulder. Was I disappointed? Not really. Would I have liked it better if it were the size/quality of a Smyrna/Nashville show, yes. But, I did not expect more than it was, it is the first time since I can remember ever having a Lebanon G. show so you can't go balls to the wall out of the gate. Prices were mostly average to high for gun shows. Some vendor, and walk around sellers for that matter, haven't gotten the word yet that we're moving back toward a buyers market rather than sellers. Particularly on anything black and plastic. AR parts particularly, and complete rifles were too high (walk around also). But I did see a table or two with competitively priced items. The size of the show meant there were more knives and ancillary (minimally gun related) items displayed than I would have liked. Years ago, actually decades, the TN gun collector shows allowed NO knives or anything that didn't go bang. And those were great shows, but that's not going to happen today. If you put a knife on your table you were asked to pick it up. Overall, the show would have been better if larger and if the air had worked better. But I'm glad I went and supported the show at a local place. I hope they can improve and come back again.
  21. It's like 10 min. for me, I"m going to the Wilson Co. republican party meeting first over on Hartmann drive at their headquarters. They are supposed to have a speaker that's going to run against Bart Gordon and I wanted to hear what she has to say.
  22. I thought maybe it was some sort of hand held plasma cannon, and I was just imagining the sound it makes when fired.
  23. I get some of the CCI .22 shot cartridges and have a blast. They're fun to shoot at when they are flying around. When you hit them they just fall straight to the ground. It's great fun and pretty good practice. Just be careful of your backstop.
  24. What's the deal on Unique and Bullseye power availability? I haven't bought any in a while but stopped by to pick some up yesterday and they said they hadn't had any one pound cans in months and 4 pounders are tight. I use Unique for about all my pistol ammo, or did. It's hard to beat.
  25. My cousin just got a Lee turret and likes it. He moved up from a RCBS rock chucker. Can't beat the value and it's a good medium between single and full progressive. Personally I haven't gulped the dillon kool-aid and will be getting a pro 2000 when I can get the funds together. I've had RCBS equip. for years, make that decades, and if it breaks they fix it, so don't let Dillon's no BS guarantee go to your head.
