  1. Man, I really wish this thread was getting a little more action.... I could use a few deals!
  2. I searched through a few pages and didn't see anything like this. If I missed it I apologize and please delete thread. Has anyone come across any good deals on anything survival related? I figured we might be able to gather a rescource of sales or coupons for a few places locally or online. Coming out of winter there might be a few sales scattered around on seasonal things. Clothes, sleeping bags, things like that. Maybe a coupon or two? Maybe we should expand this to "free" items. Things people are going to throw out. I've heard tale of people no longer needing bricks or large peices of PVC. I could make a forge outta the bricks and caches outta the PVC..... Stuff like that..... I friend of mine was trying to give away a cast iron stove for a while..... that could have been useful.... Anyway..... let's see if this was a good idea..... Really wish I had something to add right now to get this shindig started.......
  3. I doubt I'll be able to attend this, but, would love to attend the next get together. The weekend is currently the only 2 days I'm employed.....
  4. Kind of a dead thread but here's my .02.... I'd go with the bow. Once it's learned it would probably less labor intensive as far as upkeep and replacement. How easy will it be to replace/forge internals for a musket when SHTF. Not to mention the worst case scenario deferences if they were to fail. Deep cuts to worry about infection, or a small explosion in your face. Maybe the family would be better off shooting a bows as well. That might help get more food on the table. I really couldn't see my wife or daughter shooting a muzzle loader. That's just me though.. Either way, try both pre SHTF so you'll be ready should you need to switch or barter! I personally am going to use my *silent* bow/trapping for hunting first to save on ammo anyway. When it gets bad, I don't want anyone to know where I am or what I have.....
  5. I read something a while back how the name Ka-Bar came to be used. It said an Alaskan trapper had used his knife to kill a bear. The man was illiterate and the only letters able to be read were the K in killed, the A, and the BAR he misspelled bear with. The knives might be good, but that story is bad-ass! lol Unfortunately I don't own one yet. I have an Ontario SP? that I've had for about 14 years.... Also Smoky Mountain Knife Works carries just about every brand you can imagine.... It's really worth checking out....
