  1. A lot of the above is true. I pretty much quit attending when NObama got in. It got worse than when Clinton was elected! I heard from good sources that people were going to WalMart, buying ammo and taking it to the gun show with a 30%+ markup. It's kind of like some gun shops: A good place to look, but not always a great place to buy. Plus it doesn't cost you $10.00 to get in a gun shop.
  2. Agreed, EBay is a great place for deals and to get ripped off. As with anything, check around for base prices. Some sellers will ask new (or higher) prices for their used equipment. I have also seen lowball reserves from some sellers, and then look a little closer at the riduclous shipping charges. A book to avoid is the old Speer manual from the 70's. It will list loads hotter than a two-dollar pistol. Start at the bottom and work up.
  3. We'll look into that. Hopefully she will learn that more than one person can scheme!
  4. Honestly, it probably is. She is selling something that evidently does not have her name on the bill of sale, the background check, etc.. Then again, can you see this dude pressing charges? Ha! I sure wouldn't buy the thing purely out of principal. That's just -ty.
  5. I had a similar incident with a black lab once, without going as far as the attack. He was a great dog. Then, for what I can only determine as "no good reason whatsoever", the he decided to curl his lips back and show all his pearly whites at a relative one day. Not just that intimidating growl. Nooooo, the low, tail-not-wagging growl. He did that with everybody from that point on, except me. Needless to say, he met his maker earlier than he had hoped.
  6. Howdy, LissaKay! I'm not too far from you (Thorngrove Pike). The wife & I welcome you!
  7. Maybe mine is the exception to the rule, but I have had -zero- failures with my Taurus PT92. Having said that, I have both the Taurus & a Beretta 92FS in my safe, and had I the reason to grab one in an emergency, it would be the Beretta. That is one of the sweetest shooting guns I have held.
  8. I would tend to agree with Gen. Forrest. My wife has an S&W 642 w/ CT grips and she loves it. Though rated at +p, I reload at the lightest level for her to practice. She can keep all five in the belly easily. She shot my Trooper one day after some coaxing. She was intimidated by the size, but she loved it once she got going. Those light .38's in that .357 shot like a .22. That also helped build her confidence a bit. I can barely keep her in ammo! She has a Kahr CW9, but carries the Smith regularly.
  9. It's against my company's policy to have guns on the premises, so I only have two here at work. I have a Beretta 92 locked in the filing cabinet in my office and a Taurus 85 in my vehicle. We have had a disgruntled employee or two come to the office in my 20+ years working here and I have had one of these in my hand (in my jacket) on more than one occasion. Thankfully never had to pull it out, but was ready if I needed to.
  10. I'd say I agree with all the others recommending the Kahr. My wife has the CW9 and loves it. The bad thing about hers is the slide is a little tough to rack. The good thing about hers is the slide is a little tough to rack. It's a Catch-22 type thing. Great if kids are around, because you have to really give it a pull. My 9-yo nephew can't easily rack it. Otherwise it is a very accurate gun for it's size.
  11. And AMEN on Post #49, Mousegunner. When we (notice I included myself) people of very finite minds try to figure out or second guess an infinite God, we are treading on dangerous ground. I am so glad that God shows mercy for our actions.
  12. Religious? Noooooooooooo. Jesus was never a fan of the "religious" crowd, and that pretty much settles it for me. He never condoned it, since the religious leaders of that day (and to some extent today) were pious, pushing-the-law-down-your-throat people. Christianity, on the other hand, is 180 degrees from religion. All "religions" have one theme: Man searching for a relationship with a "god". Christianity is God searching for a relationship with man. Christ came to break the bondage of the law for everyone and give us the opportunity for a one-on-one experience with the Creator. And He wanted that bad enough for us to die for it. Some TV preachers are out for money. Not all, but some. That is very sad, because this is how people that do not attend a church hear the message, and they will somehow wind up listening to one of these messages equating Christianity with earthly prosperity. God will deal with these preachers in a special way, just as Christ threw the money exchangers out of the temple. That being said, I do believe in attending church, and the one I attend does not promote any liberal agendas. I know that no church is perfect, because imperfect people are in it. We sometimes try to run the church "our" way instead of God's way, and that's when it goes wrong. I'm not perfect, just forgiven. Sorry, I think I started preaching there for a minute.
  13. Hey, everbody. My name is David and my wife & I live in Strawberry Plains. To give you some perspective of my location, I am about fifteen minutes from Bass Pro Shops @ the Dollywood Exit. I work as a project manager for a concrete bridge beam manufacturer and have loved guns for whats seems all my life. I can remember cutting guns out of Dad's American Rifleman and Guns & Ammo magazines and keeping them in my cigar "safe"! Yep, that much of a nut. I enjoy any shooting, from .22's up to .44's and rifle up to .300WM. If it goes *BOOM*, I like it and may have even owned one at one time. I appreciate this opportunity to express my views with like kind.
